The movie was below expectation hence why it sucked bad. The director and actor duo have made 2 classics previously so this was very underwhelming to say the least. Mahesh Babu was the only saving grace in this film. His acting and energy was next level but the story was a proper letdown. The trailer doesn't show the emotional aspects (there isn't much tbf) but the trailer doesn't do justice to that side of things. This was a massy trailer for the fans which is why they only showed the scenes where he was beating the shit out of people. Little about Mahesh Babu, he is 48 years old now and during 2000-2014, he was undoubtedly the best telugu actor and one of the biggest names from south India. His filmography includes some of tollywoods greatest classics and his films have been remade several times by big actors like Thalapathy vijay and Salman Khan. He basically achieved a level of stardom that no other actor from tollywood matched and this was way before Pan-Indian films were a thing, in fact Mahesh has bigger openings internationally than the Bollywood khan's themselves. His looks, acting and experimental script selections made him a fan favourite among the industry. From 2015 until now, he has played it incredibly safe with his films. Similar scripts and acting. They all ended up being hits due to his stardom and pull over the audience but his performances have been lacklustre to say the least. Guntur Kaaram is the first film in nearly a decade that we saw such a free flowing performance from him. It was like watching him at his peak again which is thanks to the director who has always shown Mahesh Babu in unique and different characters whenever they have worked together. His next film is with SSR. This film is said to have hollywood production houses involved and the largest budget ever in Indian cinema. This is also the first time that Rajamouli is working with an actor who already has industry hits and a huge market outside India, every other actor he has worked with got an industry hit through a Rajamouli film. The film will be insane and I'm sure you will see more of him when that film comes!
