    There's one good thing about this Hummer: people can buy it instead of the ICE Hummer, and produce far less pollution when driving (note: tailpipe emissions, not total/overall emissions, although this EV also will be better on that metric compared to the ICE Hummer).
    Some people just need a way to flaunt their self-importance and money... that cannot be avoided. So, if it's going to happen, it's probably better they do it with an oversized EV, rather than an oversized ICE vehicle. At least GM have only sold a couple-thousand of these beasts (and it's been out for most of the year, iirc), and only in the US, so it's not exactly a high-volume vehicle :p

    Well at 4 tons you can't drive that on a standard British license (unless your license is a few decades old). You'll need to get a different categorgy of license. That's true in the uk and the eu.
    So at least Hummer drivers should be better than average, just because they need more advanced driving licenses.

  • @patreekotime4578

    The only good thing I can say about this... Thing... is that it will put a few more people who would have otherwise never considered buying an EV behind the drivers seat of one. And the somewhat decent range, offroad abilities and insane acceleration showcases to those people that an EV doesnt have to be a compromise vehicle. So even though its likely way worse for the environment than many hybrids, it is at least a good piece of PR. Tesla was the first company to make EVs into aspirational vehicles, and GM has perhaps perfected the concept of an aspirational EV for a very niche market. Soo... Bravo I guess?

    • @4literv6
      @4literv6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly right. This is targeted at the types of men who drive the most miles annually. In vehicle's like this which get the worst overall mpg.
      Something like this is driven 12-15,000+miles a year at 6-10mpg max(ram trx and raptor r are both single digit mpg in average use.
      So everyone of these sold could take several thousand gallons of gas or diesel consumption off the roads. Plus eliminate the particulate emissions, noise and heat, 3 average oil changes of 6-8quarts each and other savings vs ICE.
      It's like the math for the idiots who claim every tesla semi sold is 10x less model y or model 3s sold. Except those class of cars get 25-30mpg on average and are driven about 10-12,000 miles a year.
      So 50,000 tesla semi trucks replacing 50k average diesel semi trucks all getting 6.5mpg if that and doing over 100k a year?
      Yeah 50,000 semis replaces nearly 730,000,000 gallons of diesel consumption vs 500,000 model y&3s replace about 220,000,000 gallons of gas. And gas does less environmental damage, less particulate pollution and uses less energy to refine vs diesel. I say great job gm.👍🏻

    1:20 - Minor quibble. The H2 was the original "smaller" version. H2 is a completely different vehicle than the original military HMMWV / Hummer H1. It's really just a Chevy Tahoe with a body kit. (Okay, there's more to the H2 than that, but it is at its core the same platform as the Chevy Tahoe, where the H1 was a purpose-built platform just for the H1 / military Humvee. The only relation to the H1 is the fact that AM General built it from Suburban frames in AM General's own plant, the same one used to build the H1. (Technically it's the GMT820 platform, which was used for the H2, Tahoe, Caddy Escalade, and GMC Yukon; the H2 also used some components from the GM 2500 series heavy duty trucks.) The H3 was based on the GMT345 platform, with much fewer customizations compared to the H2 / GMT820, it was effectively a Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon with a reskin, built in the same factories as the Colorado/Canyon, unlike the H2 was was built in AM General's factory.)
