They complained that Red Velvet didn’t know what their concept was because they went from happiness to be natural. But once Yeri joined in 2015, they got their first win with Ice Cream Cake. And from then on they got really popular for being able to do so many different concepts and make it work.

As i learned, their debut was v controversial and they did receive lots of hate, bc it was like an open secret that their debut was rushed or like they were a "cover up group" because at the time SM Ent was facing lots of huge scandals. Then Yeri also faced so much hate at a very young age since she was added to the group late 😔 So glad that she's well taken care of by her members and she's surrounded by lots of good people.
But yup, they had a successful debut!! They charted #1 on the first hour on multiple charts, theirs was also the first kpop girlgroup debut single to be on billboard (#4), they also won their rookie of the year awards from major award shows 🥺 Their first music show win was ICC, when Yeri joined the group (btw it is pronounced like Yeah-Ri), their lucky charm!
Yep, just seeing those Huge dislikes on the debut teaser and the MV tells me how much those other groups' fans hated them for debuting and don't even start me on the hate for Yeri (which is still there to some extent, believe it or not ;(
Thankfully the girls overcame everything thru their Talent and artistry ! Their goofy charactes made everyone love them :)

@@vannyscorner7627 yeah, sadly there are still some people especially some BG fans and mainly other group shippers (Tzukook, Liskook etc.) who feel they own their oppas and Yeri being social butterfly interacts with lots of people and those fans think she's stealing them (they don't know their oppas are lucky instead).
They always stalk her Instagram and send hate at random times :/

also yes a lot of people want to undermine their success but even more than the awards they won throughout the years, them and their music being loved and acknowledged by lots of music critics and producers they worked with is so 😍🥰

i used to dislike red velvet because i thot their music was a mess.. only 3 yrs. ago i realized it's actually a very very beautiful mess 😇 they mix genres like no other artists do, and their B-sides, omg it's GOLD. I started loving evry music experiment they do in each comeback. not to mention #conceptqueens Red Velvet OT5 comeback soon!
