    I think that scene of light crying was the last bit of humanity in him for the rest of the series, for a second there you can see his eyes go back to the brown-ish color and rounder shape that’s stylistically used to represent light (while Kira is represented using narrower, more slanted and more reddish eyes) and I think it’s a very cool detail

      I am not sure about it. I hate him more because he say "Don't you die on me, idiot". He pretend to cry because of his father's death, but actually he is screaming mad to him. He is genius psychopath, so maybe he didn't understand feeling and love too.

      @@irenegyu7949 I really think that was the last bit of genuine emotion. Light as a person has morals, he has feelings and he has emotions, and that’s evident from when he loses the notebook earlier on and goes back to light, light is just a normal human being and he’s not a sociopath like most people tend to believe, it’s only after obtaining the notebook that he starts losing emotions and morals, he basically starts tossing away the part of him that was “light” to become Kira, it’s basically like 2 different entities. I think the scene where his dad died is the last we ever see any of “light” left because the last bit of emotions and humanity died alongside his dad, light truly loved his dad and in that situation, he didn’t need to act, people weren’t suspecting that he killed his dad and there were no people in that room he needed to prove himself to, it was a genuine cry, it was the last bit of genuine emotions he’s ever shown though.

    Mello is an asshole, but he isn’t the type to actually torture someone. I’m pretty sure Saiyu’s condition is “just” from being kidnapped and then she got fake shot in front of her dad, she thought she was 100% gonna die.

    Light's tears in this episode were real because he actually did care about his father. The manga goes into a bit more detail but unfortunately the anime cut some of that out. It just shows that the Light we saw from episode 17-23 is still in there. The Light that cares about people and has morals. But his mission as Kira overpowers all of that. Because of his goal, he can't falter or give in to his emotions. And that's what makes Light such a compelling character.

      Yeah but the remaining lifespan can change depending on the circumstances, and that's what I believe happened with Light's dad.
      I believe this is why Rem died; she ''prolonged'' Misa's lifespan, so it's safe to assume L would have caught her and sentenced her to death.
      I don't think Misa had a small amount of days all along, from what I gather it changed when L decided to go through with his plan of testing the notebook.

    • @joshiesushi
      @joshiesushi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Fredward Maybe the pure act of writing in the notebook changes the lifespan of people. Like a butterfly effect kind of thing. So every time light writes a name it indirectly affects their lifespans, maybe also lowering Misa's since every name made L more likely to send Misa to the gallows.

    presumably Chief Yagami would have died that day regardless, whatever lifespan he had, taking the deal makes it half but it was only at most a few hours between taking the eyes and the death at the hospital, so double that would have been his lifespan, at most he would have lived till next morning.
    we saw when misa was almost killed and saved by jealous that murders by other people also deterministically taken into account during your death time (molinism is false in the death note universe) so getting killed by the bullets and explosion would count as well. @@tatrotzz3643 where is the evidence for that? it may be plausible, the death not itself may somehow add uncertainty to an otherwise undisturbed lifespan but its just speculation unless substantiated.
      What is solid is that mello or his thugs shoudnt have been able to kill chief yagami before his time under normal circumstances but since at least some touched the notebook, it could have added uncertainty as well?
      i suppose one possible piece of evidence is when naomi misora is about to give light her real license and Ryuk notices the lifespan "changing " and begins laughing, but its a little ambiguous if this is ryuk noticing and since the end was near letting it out finally or if the lifespan really changed in front of him. But if it was change, was the uncertainty her own free will or Light being the uncertainty catalyst as a death note user?

    • @iminumst7827
      @iminumst7827 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think its interesting how the fate / death of a person is decided by default, and only the death note can change that. That suggests that Shinigami in Death Note aren't actually the cause of death itself like the Grim Reaper is in Western mythology, but instead in Death Note either natural causes or an all-mighty god decides the fate of every human, and shinigami just try to leech of the scraps of life they find. This lore gives even more meaning to Ryuk's assessment that the Shinigami have no purpose outside of self-preservation. Maybe there's some lore in the manga that contradicts this, but this is my understanding of Death Note lore.

    The father would have died either way, but not exactly at that time. The deal cuts your remaining life span in half, so if you count the time between the deal being made and his death you'll realize it wasn't that long, so he probably would have been in the hospital badly injured for a couple more days and then died of his wounds anyway.

    • @andrewli6606

      Actually, the Death Note has a rule that says its involvement explicitly makes lifespans inaccurate. For example, if you killed the pilot of a plane, no one on board’s lifespan would change, but they could still all die when the plane crashes. Soichiro has been so involved with the Death Note and its shenanigans that his lifespan would no longer be accurate at all.

    22:10 this is facinating stuff I'm not sure if the author accounted for this cuz you open a can of worm when you decide to introduce time-bending variables to your show, if he did he's a "genius". From what I understand the number above head/ one's lifespan it's fated, so when chief got the eyes and got the remaining lifespan halved, from the moment of the eye deal until he dies at the hospital bed was what? 1 or 2 hours? ... so then it would've mean he was fated to have lived "normally" otherwise 2 to 4 hours more anyway if he never made the deal....? that's when I don't trust the author to have all figured out, but let's say he did, then that means without the eyes the chief-mello confrontation plays out way different, heck it might've not even happened at all (but if so he still got to die in 4 hours max), he wouldn't know his real name so mello doesn't panic and the conversation plays out differently, the other guard might not have woken up, or even less bullets hit him in the back in this alternative universe or who knows what else infinite posibilities, maybe everything is the same minus the name relevation and he survives 2-4hours more laying in the hospital. It's mindblowing.

    If the Chief Yagami didn’t accept the eye deal, he would’ve died the next day. The eye deal takes half of your remaining lifespan. Well I guess depending how long he lived after the eye deal, just multiply it by two lol. And I don’t think Misa could see Chief’s lifespan because wasn’t he the owner of the Death Note at that time or just simply they didn’t see each other. That and it shows Light doesn’t care about his family or friends when his “girlfriend,” could see when they die and didn’t spend extra time with them before they died.

    Light can’t kill Melo because he doesn’t know his face but also if you misspell someones name a certain amount of times the notebook can no longer be used to kill that person so it would be extremely risky to try that especially since Mello’s name is Russian and Light probably can’t speak Russian.

      Mello was raised in England, so he probably is only ethnically Russian. You have to write the true name of someone in their native language and Mihael Keehl is written in Roman letters and not in Russian.

    You mentioned that it would be weird if Light lost to Near after beating L, and while I partly agree, I think beating L made Light feel as though all his obstacles were removed. In the beginning he wanted to be the god of the new world, but he was immediately stopped by L at every turn, so while he was undoubtedly arrogant and cocky in the first 24 episodes, it wasn’t until L died that he truly became the god he always wanted to be.
    In this new mental state he doesn’t consider anyone a threat so ultimately falls victim to his own Hubris, as seen in the previous episode, where he makes a few mistakes and gets extremely angry. Ultimately L is better than Near and Mello, however Light plays a part in his own downfall by underestimating everyone else, something he would never have done with the original L.

    "He can go to heaven, right?"
    In episode 1 Light guesses that the reason people who use the Death Note cant go to heaven or hell is because neither exist and Ryuk says he's correct
