I made the Tsinghua/Qinghua distinction because of the “to go to Tsinghua University” pun in Qinghua’s name, and also because MXTX didn’t give Airplane a canonical past life name like Shen Yuan. To be clear, Qinghua is pronounced the same either way, with a ch sound, one is just an old Pinyin system and the other is the new one. But first, ABC Shen Yuan wouldn’t realize that and just think it’s pronounced “singhua,” and second, I think it could be a good area of character drama to distinguish two different sides of Qinghua.
