  • Chapter 23 : The Birthplace of St. Colmcille
St. Colmcille, also known by his Latin name St. Columba, is one of Ireland’s three patron saints along with St. Patrick and St. Bridgid.
We travelled to Gartan, which is a little off the Wild Atlantic Way to visit the Colmcille Heritage Centre where we met Martin Egan and Margaret Alcorn. We got to see where St. Colmcille was born and heard about his early life, his exile to Iona in Scotland and the influence he had on reintroducing Christianity to Europe.
