A real gem to see this segment, its hard-to-find interviews with Bill. This was a wonderful interview. Listening to Bill talk about conservation you could see the passion, interest and caring he had for it. He was so articulate and well spoken. My favourite actor. He had the most wonderful smile, lit up his entire face. His deep speaking voice, swoon! Its sad he left us too soon. He is missed but not forgotten. x Thankful Bill fan here. Australia

His deep speaking voice was due to his chain smoking and drinking. Yes, sad that he "left us" too soon, but the why is what was sad. He felt unworthy, not good enough, and as a result was tremendously insecure -- hence his alcoholism and heavy drug (smoking) use, which killed him.

I agree absolutely with all you say...Wm. Holden my favorite actor too. (James Garner rates very high on my list too.) I always wished the two actors would make a film or two together...a great humorous one, & a great western.

Great to see William Holden in this video. I’ve always thought that among his many fine roles he was perfectly cast as Pike Bishop in The Wild Bunch and gave one of the greatest film performances ever.

Great, great show with Dick (the best talk/interview show...along with ack Paar) and then two of my favorites, two of the finest ever, entertainers in Eartha Kitt and Wm. Holden. The admiration I have for/and from the time I first saw them acting, singing...each time and always I am glued to my chair (or in the theater) when they truly give the greatest performances. Also, I have read, & followed these two realizing from very quickly some of their personal lives...NOT tabloids or nonsense but Holden's concern for conservation, Eartha's wonderful way always makes me happy, her honesty, her openness I appreciate so much.
I wish they were here for TV talks w.Dick Cavett now. I miss such individuals as this very much.

That attitude of “it’s fine if you own a coat, but the point is to not buy the next one” is such a level headed position. Today there’s a focus on shaming people instead of acknowledging that behaviors can change. This is so delightful to watch on so many levels.

      Hunting and Conservation
Wildlife management, population control and wildlife conservation are euphemisms for killing-hunting, trapping and fishing for fun. A percentage of the wild animal population is specifically mandated to be killed. Hunters want us to believe that killing animals equals population control equals conservation, when in fact hunting causes overpopulation of deer, the hunters’ preferred victim species, destroys animal families, and leads to ecological disruption as well as skewed population dynamics.

@Dave Rave my farher in law was Don Hunt. He was Bill Holdens best friend an one of his business partners that founded Mt Kenya Safari Club. I spent years in Nanyuki Kenya living on the former game ranch turned into an animal orphanage and Mountian Bongo breeding center. Now I didn't personally know Bill but my wife called him Uncle Bill. After about 1973 both quit trophy hunting and would only kill out of mercy. So really you are wrong on many accounts.

Thank you for uploading the William Holden videos. I have loved this man since I was about 11 years old. There are so few interviews featuring Mr. Holden. I wish I could save these videos permanently. He was as perceptive, erudite and sensitive as I thought he was from my research on him. One of the good guys. We could really use a William Holden about now.

I like seeing this almost regularly it seems. Bill Holden, as many use his name like that; he had such a way about him...of course one of the finest actors, and I never wavered thinking anything else, but besides acting his closest (and very many actors, others mention that screen presence he had.) I recall near end of Wild Bunch when he and his friend Ernie Borgnine came walking down for the shootout to come against the bad guys...four abreast Holden in the center part and no dialogue ( though he had such a gifted voice) no dialogue needed because Holdens natural, normal walk, the smile that all women swooned over and guys wish they had, it showed again before he is shot down at the end. We fans of this fine actor, that humble and never egotistical man was something to watch.
Friend Glenn Ford said of Holden that he (paraphrased here) was too critical of his acting. That is when I heard that the ones who have it are often still unaware how they come across to the millions of fans they have. Only 63 when he died in that accident. Watch him in "Breezy," that lighthearted film will be a happy one to see. Beautifully done about loving someone, because two hearts meet and connect despite age, et. (Directed by Clint Eastwood.)
    Forgive the long harangue?

It's one thing killing for food or culling (cropping) animals as a paid job by the national parks, but killing for fun (trophy hunting) is a demonstration of a sick and disturbed mind bordering on sychopathic tendencys,

A hunter visited another hunter and was given a tour of his home. In the den was a stuffed lion. The visiting hunter asked, "when did you bag him?" The host said, "that was three years ago, when I went hunting with my wife." "What's he stuffed with," asked the visiting hunter. "My wife."
