After serving my time for a felony, I got out and decided to start a family and make proper use of my second chance but deep down I really wanted my gun rights restored for my family’s safety, living in a rural area, my therapist recommended an attorney who specializes in restoring gun rights for felon and other expungement cases. Having gathered the necessary documents showing my rehabilitation, he filed a petition and presented a strong case and to my greatest surprise my gun rights were restored and I feel very relieved knowing I can protect my family and move on with my life. Got a 3 year old and a baby on the way.

Seeing you were able to restore your gun rights with the help of a specialized attorney. Could you share how you found the right attorney and what steps you took?Or any direct contact of your attorney would be appreciated.

@@FOREIGNBOYLOUIEONE3 Got a nonviolent felony charge in 04'. But I'd never been in any (serious) trouble before. So my attorney recommended using my "first offender act" so that I could be able to retain my weapons and voting rights after my probationary period was up (which was 5 years). Even after getting off of probation, I had to get a judge to sign off on the paperwork before I could get my rights back and get a carry license. But as far as I understand it, you can get your rights back even if you DIDN'T use the "first offender act". From what I hear, it just takes going through an application process, and possibly paying a fee to get the right judge to expunge your charges.

But you get caught carrying by some unforseen circumstances and that is a nasty charge. Plus, if happens as a result of being charged with other types of crimes they can use that as means of enhancing your sentence to something a lot more severe.
Say you are with someone in a car or a public place, a cop rolls up and finds some weed or other drugs, they can charge you both as co-defendants and that felon in possession of a firearm charge on top of a drug charge can turn few months or couple years to a full on dime in maximum security.
Granted that's assuming whomever else you were with that didn't bother letting you know they were holding doesn't step up and take full responsibility admitting ownership and didn't bother to tell you they had shit. Which happens all the damn time to folks. And it makes it nearly impossible to make a case for your innocence since you were already illegally carrying a firearm. It shows criminal intent and mentality... There is no way you are going to beat that shit unless whomever steps up and even then the Prosecutor or judge can choose to ignore it and still charge you both.
My prayers go out to you... May God keep you safe.

Thank you, SINCERELY, for this message.
Like some people, I've worked hard and partied harder in my past, and have NEVER had a violent crime charged against me and I'm a respectful country man (I like to hunt, I believe in the 2nd amendment, and KNOW that I have the right to protect my family and myself ESPECIALLY with everything going on nowadays), however, a few years ago I lost my poppaw (my grandfather whom was my last living grandparent and he left me his house, even though I already had my own, and even though it had more space for myself and family I (after moving into it) found out that it had more problems that I wasn't made aware of and couldn't afford to fix while providing for myself and loved ones living with me). I should've looked into it more and admittedly could've done a better job but I never got the chance to talk to my poppaw about everything because he passed away all of a sudden (R.I.P poppaw).
Getting back to my original point, I had lost my last grandparent, wanted to respect his wishes/gift he left for me, was taking care of myself and others, and moved to his house hoping things would be better (unfortunately no) and was under an IMMENSE amount of stress and, my point in all of this, got busted with some girl (if ya know ya know) one night and got arrested. I was highly cooperative/NEVER had a violent charge pressed against me/my first felony offence blah blah blah but knew that it would would still be a felony charge. That being said, and I'm still having to deal with everything, I don't want to lose my 2nd amendment rights over a mistake that admittedly was MY fault but have never had ANY serious or violent charges against me.
Yes I got busted with some snow but AM NOT a bad person and I have NEVER assaulted ANYONE in my life, and NEVER will unless it's legitimately for my protection/safety, but since I'm in the nonviolent category I DO NOT want to lose my rights to protect myself over a mistake.
I'm hoping my new lawyer can get everything dropped because it's my first and especially since there's a new law that nonviolent felons can still maintain their 2nd amendment rights, but NOWADAYS you just never know and it depends on the judge you have, not to mention most importantly besides my main point in the gun ownership aspect, I STILL WANT TO WORK (welding in particular because that is what I excel at) and not all companies are willing to hire felons even if they made a mistake and it's their first time being charged.

I’ve never been to prison, just a few felonies that were pushed as high as the prosecution could out of spite, and I did at most 90 days in county jail. Along with probation. No violent crimes, however I’m not living in the same state as I was when he was alive. That’s in SC, now I live in one of the most highly gun regulated cities in America: NYC. After that did a shit load of calling many lawyers offices, with them all saying " you're a felon for life and can never own a gun", with none of them asking what age i was during the charge... well years went on by and i became my own "lawyer" and found out i plead guilty under the YOA act.. so i called the solicitor office and asked them about it, paid $600 and about months later got my expungment papers in the mail, "records destroyed".. been riding with guns ever since, pulled over many of times and weapon handed back to my glove box once they unloaded it of course.

Wow man, honestly I’ve been looking so deep into trying to get my gun rights restored. I lost my gun rights over a bullshit domestic 10+ years ago. I haven’t committed a violent crime nor did I commit a violent crime that day. I was actually the one that was getting hit and beat and I just try to get her off of me which then I got charged for domestic, but I want to just thank you for the bottom of my heart because I love guns and I’ve been really really wanting to be able to have the freedom of being able to purchase one inside of a store without that deep sinking feeling into my heart where I know I shouldn’t be in that store due to a bullshitdomestic that I really didn’t even commit thank you for sharing. This information is definitely restored a lot of hope inside my heart and I really appreciate the fact that you are talking about. If you can do it anyone can do it because that honestly means a lot of people keep on keeping on.

Appreciate this powerful message. We need to push this agenda forward and bring awareness to millions of Americans who have lost their rights and freedoms. 2020 was an eye opener and I understood why old heads use to say we must keep streets flooded. We can’t sleep on hatred systematically disarming us. Rights restored movement. ✊🏽

Outstanding video very well done..shall not be infringed! If a released felon is so dangerous and can’t be trusted with a firearm then why were they released into society?! Sad you had even had to go through the process but good on you for following through and helping others with the process

Yo! Love the video im out here in the Northwest Washington/Idaho fighting the good fight helping as many felons as i can get their gun rights back. I was the first one in my county to get their rights back when we first filed the paperwork they replied with a denial my attorney then sent in paperwork saying we plan to take take legal action agint the county and sue for damages 3 days later i had my restoration papers in hand and the flood gates had been broken. In Washington its cut and dry they have no choice but to give your rights back its a sign here paper no court room appearance needed just a $240 filing fee.

Wow..I was 19 but now 44. I've been out since 1999.. Nothing more than a wreckless driving ticket due to speeding in 2003. Got My GED while incarcerated, obtained my CDL afterwards in 1999.Released from 5 year probation nearly 2 years early after my PO recommended it. Got married in 2005 and still married with 3 children in which 2 are college students and youngest is a Junior. I graduated from college with a 4.0 gpa in 2016.Started a small dump truck business in 2019 and a paint & Collison repair in 2021.. Currently self employed with no protection of my family or my businesses.. 🤷🏿‍♂️ I've been looking at that law for years but never had the courage to file the petition.. Thanks for the encouragement.

If you have a mental wellness record it is much harder and almost impossible. If that was an outcome of your involuntary commitment, try a taser

Could you please give a guideline of what to write? Maybe you could start a business on helping felons get their gun rights back. I'm not saying become a lawyer but to give personal advice on a individual specific situation.

I live off grid in Northern Califirnia I can't even defend my property against predators .
I want to go hunting again before I die with my son been using a crossbow for years now I cant duck hunt or hunt upland game its BS that once a ex felon does his time they are not automatically reinstated period.

Well mark I don't know what state you live in ?
But federal law supercedes state law and the fact is a crossbow or bow or air rifle is not a firearm as federal law.
So any fed who told you you cannot have anything with a trigger is full of BS!

Well done video brother 👊🏿❤️👊🏿❤️👊🏿❤️👊🏿❤️👊🏿❤️. My path was very different. I fucked up nonviolently in 96 (a money crime), I never messed up again, or before then either. In march of 2020, I applied for a pardon here in Nevada, and it was finally granted in July of 2022, and attested to in October. You have to go thru the pardons board here, that’s the Governor, state attorney general, State Supreme Court, State Secretary of State, and the Parole Board secretary. No matter who votes yes, if the Governor votes no, it’s denied. They all voted yes for me. Congrats, and I’ll never do shit to lose my rights again, not even if I’m guaranteed to get away with it.
