"Plot Twist" blew up in Korea and it's currently the number 3 song there, which is amazing for a boy group but especially a rookie one. Also, "Plot Twist" is the English name, the Korean one translates roughly to "The first meeting doesn't go as planned." Also, with all the "scandals" with adult members from different groups already, it seems like it doesn't matter if you debut as an adult in K-pop, you'll still put through the ringer.
The Korean pronunciation of the group name is like "two us."
The korean title is "First Meetings Don't Go as Planned". I believe that's the reason why the song blew up in SK because that's literally what everyone feels in school or at work. Plus, the song sounds refreshing and easy to listen to, something that boy groups lack these days. Because most of them are just noise music now. Another would be because the release date was close to the opening of school, which perfectly fits their song title and concept. And now school in SK is currently in their first few weeks so the song is topping in all music charts.
Newly debuted and they're already my favorite along with BoyNextDoor. They're just as adorable too. By the way I don't know if you know but Astro has a little brother group too called Lun8. They're really good and one of the members you might recognize as Noh Sungchul from I-land, his stage name is Ian.
this is actually the first time I'm actually listening to their music. From what I can tell riize and tws are considered the top 5th gen boy groups in korea rn(zb1 too but they dont have any songs rn that have been really popular with the general public)

The song became a hit in SK because it was genuinely good for Koreans who love bright concepts in idol groups. They also love that the song doesn't have that many English lyrics and the theme is relatable about first meeting.
Their MV comments are full of Koreans who find the song nostalgic, like it reminds them of SNSD's debut song, 3rd gen GGs like Lovelyz or cute HOT songs. There are a lot of comments from older audiences who listen to BG only until BigBang aka the GP picks. Plot twist MV makes them reminiscing about school days.
