Klay and Curry are hands down the best shooting backcourt of all time. But Luka and Kyrie have a skillset I don't think has been matched in NBA history as far as ballhandling and offensive creation. LeBron and Kyrie would be another contender, but Kyrie has grown a lot since then as a player. Honestly the only thing keeping the Mavs from total greatness is the guys around them not consistently capitalizing on the space and open looks created. When they do, the Mavs are virtually unstoppable, but guys like PJ and Jones are not necessarily elite shooters who can be expected to be consistent from outside.

Yes, he has grown into the best player on that contender, but a stacked team going to the conference finals five times in seven years doesn't mean he is automatically the "best player." That team would be a contender to come out of the East even without Tatum, full stop. At this point the point for Tatum is put up or shut up.
