You forgot to mention Cutter + Cutter... where Kirby tears his face off and throws it as a boomerang, waiting patiently with *no goddamn face* for it to come back.

Possibly the best ability in series history is cutter + spark, which gives Kirby a freaking double-bladed lightsaber!

@@iyadanimation Hardly. Fire Sword is slow and cumbersome. Even if it does have an active hitbox as well, you can get screwed so easily due to lack of ability. I will only give it a point in that it has a projectile in throwing the blade, but Double-Sided Lightsaber still beats it by a shot longer than the thrown Fire Sword.

Bomb + Cutter is my personal favourite combo. The exploding ninja stars are just WAY too satisfying to hit people with!
Heck yes, my favorite as well. Just the "whoosh, tick, boom" is so satisfying, and the throw is near instantaneous. I just wish he could throw it in other directions besides horizontal.
I remember I first used it with no surface for it to land on so I thought it did nothing. The waddle dee down the road I was terrorizing, however, could feel it’s effects.
I love how the enemies it hits freeze for a second on impact before the explosion.

I prefer the Electric/Frost power. Kirby becomes a fridge.

Star Allies acknowledges the freezer in Artist's Still Life move. So the freezer isn't forgotten.

I think a lot of the abilities from 64 that stretch and warp Kirby’s body could probably be put in a modern Kirby game, and would fit in alongside ones like the Mouthful Mode or Hypernova since they stretch Kirby’s body a ton
oddly enough, one did show back up in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
needle+needle combo in crystal shards, makes a forgotten land upgraded needle ability, clutter needle.
Yeah but that was an upgrade of Needle and not a stand alone ability

A lot of the double-versions are basically upgrades.
Stone just gets bigger in double.
Cutter is bigger with teeth
Fire still bolts ahead in a line, but as a phoenix (to my eyes) instead of a fireball
Not all, but many. I don't see the "simply an upgrade" idea with ice going from spinny ice breath in single to rolling snowball of doom in double
@@ShadowFoxSF Let me restate, I’m talking about the Needle upgrade in Forgotten Land. It was just an upgrade for Needle and nothing more while there are so many things that could be made with the others. Give Kirby some of the more unique abilities from Crystal Shards that aren’t just more of something like with the needle combo. Something like the fridge which makes a cameo if you use the Artist ability in Star Allies, or the burning ice cube for a gag ability cause honestly we need more gag abilities than just Sleep.

Flame sword and Spark sword are my absolute favorties from Crystal shards, I did half of a playthrough of it a few months ago on my Switch...i should finish it
Bomb + fire to make fireworks was my favorite combo. I would annihilate every single boss with it.
You missed the fact that with the flaming arrow ability that if you have the arrow notched, you can hop around like a rabbit and it's fucking goofy

I'm actually upset that they remade Return to Drramland instead of this game.
Yeah I didn’t like the remake of RtD. This game would’ve gotten a great upgrade if I’d been remade.

Bomb + Ice is mostly a defensive tool that could defend Kirby from enemies, while also being able to just, unlike rock

I always the biggest fan of cutter/electric and ice/electric. Rock/cutter was only fun when you got that round bird and you could fly fast and also bowl yourself at enemies.
Fire/Cutter was pretty decent too.
I also recently learned that the gopher can scale walls.

The fridge one for me was the craziest but one of my favorites to get as a kid! The one where you could be a moving rock sculpture was awesome too. I'd cycle through till i got the little bird that was the most maneuverable.
Ngl, this was the first kirby game I played, and I still own it for N64

I knew someone had to mentioned this one. The fridge ability is kinda overpowered. I mean, sure, it’s not the best at taking down enemies, but you can also heal yourself at any time you want. Plus, it also just looks funny to use.

Crystal shards is my favorite up there with amazing mirror. My dream kirby game has the ability combinations of crystal shards, the metroidvania of amazing mirror and the inventory/upgrades of squeak squad.
Fire cutter is OP and probably my favorite ability in the game

I loved the fire/fire combo. Kirby pulls that massive flaming sword out of his mouth and carries it around like it's nothing.
Electric and ice- the refrigerator ability. He becomes a fridge, and opens the door, releasing food onto the ground.
Squeak squad also had a Limited fusion mechanic

I like using the term “Santa Claus hat” to refer to a blue and red fez. It prompts a fun mental image of Santa.

Kirby 64 is such a fantastic game. Honestly, the ability combos are just the tip of the iceberg. The boss fights are great; HR-H, 02, and ESPECIALLY Miracle Matter are particularly memorable. The soundtrack might genuinely be the best in the series, with nearly every song setting the tone of the levels perfectly in addition to being catchy as hell. The level design?? Incredible. I am not exaggerating when I say every single level in the game has its own unique feel to it. They also feel so interconnected, like each level builds off the themes of its respective world in new, satisfying ways. It really does feel like you're exploring worlds, each one filled with wonders, perils, and sometimes, even dark secrets...
Tl;dr: Play Kirby 64 if you haven't already. No matter how good you think it is, it's probably better.

Ice + Spark, Kirby turns into a whole fridge and spits out food that can damage enemies and at the same time get picked up for health.
The best one is fire and cutter. Where he just pulls out a 6ft anime sword!

Rock and Rock is my favorite. You just become a stone giant that cannot take damage. The only flaw is that you cannot jump.

And then you have the two awesome combos of Spark + Cutter and Fire + Cutter, which gave you a two-bladed lightsaber and a big-ass flaming greatsword that Kirby PULLS OUT OF THE GODDAMN VOID WE CALL HIS MOUTH. Did I mention that you can THROW the big-ass flaming greatsword? Because you can.

Honestly what was weird was seeing kirby (in fire/spark combo) rub a sheet of metal on his head causing his head to burst in flames only to run around until it extinguishes, always thought that was a bizzare attack.

Kirby 64 was my first Kirby game, so I was SUPER disappointed that copy abilities didn't work like that in the others. I wish they'd bring it back for even a smaller-scale game, or maybe remade Kirby 64.
spark+fire was also pretty chump.
