Lana - Please tell him he has amazing strength in his mind, which can do amazing things. I know, because it’s how I won mine. It’s not easy, it was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I know now I can stand among our Warriors who have all had it.
I remember being told there would be a prescription of antibiotics to pick up along with being told to please not go out, and stay home over the weekend, no grocery stores, no theaters, nowhere but home and with limited guests. My white blood cell count was really low, and I couldn’t take the chance of getting sick because I wouldn’t have anything to fight it off. My immunity would get dangerously low time after time and my body’s baby white blood count wasn’t building the fighting cells that I desperately needed.
Did it get me down, depressed? Surprisingly no. I knew my will was strong and so was my mind, and that is what got me through it. No matter how much my body got beat up from the chemo and radiation, I still had my mind, and it was still whole. Well, minus what I’d call the forgetfulness. Other than that, I was all good mentally.
If I was to offer a word of advice it would be to imagine yourself crossing the finishing line over and over again. To change the what if, and make it I have and can. The medical professionals call it remission. But, you see, I don’t consider myself in remission. I fought and I won and it is all gone. I refuse to believe there were a few cells that got away and growing as we speak. I don’t believe there are any of those cells left to regrow, so no, I am not in remission because it is all bloody well gone.
I’m going to leave one more…
Don’t get too hard on those who you thought would be there checking in like others have. They want to, they just don’t know how to act is all. They don’t know what to say, and more importantly, they don’t want to lose you. It’s going to be up to you to break down those barriers and have them see you, all of you whether you have hair or not. Plus, they might be going through something really hard themselves and they don’t want to bother you. And don’t worry, they’ve already beat themselves enough for not being by your side, but free them of their shackles and let them know you’re still here. Be blunt with them too. One thing I’ve learned is I no longer have the time or patience to pussy-foot around anything, just spit it out.

Nova, you really nailed it with the lighting and colors in this video. The dim lighting in the more somber portions really pulls at the heart strings and yanks on everyone’s emotions. The chorus in the church with the additional lighting on Tom is invigorating and really lifts you up on the positive parts of the song. The magic between you two visually and lyrically is something no other artists share. Loved the priest dancing. The video starts low energy as if you are telling yourself you’re a fighter even though you don’t feel it or believe it. The dancing later on brings the energy up and changes the mood so it feels like you are now believing that you are a fighter. I definitely feel the mood and energy shifting in the latter half of the video helped tell the story

This song just hits close to me… being in my 50’s now, life always had some bad stuff with two failed marriages with two abusing men…and somehow living through it all was just luck.. from everyday telling me I was fat and ugly at 105 pds, had me believing I was, to the constant fear mongering, to the bullets flying by my head, actually feeling my hair flip up by one, and the whizzing noise by others. I never forgotten… I’ve been alone since 2011, I let the rest of my life go by from years of abuse, and never could trust again after they had multiple affairs, worse was always finding out right after I gave birth 😔 my life will never go anywhere from here,,things just got worse… but this song has really made me feel good for once.. thanks Tom and Nova for all you do😊☺️😉 This song is gold👏👏 just wish I could get my youth back and start over… I never was even allowed a friend, or see my family. I can’t believe how stupid I was…..

I have not seen every one of his videos , but this is my absolute FAVORITE Tom MacDonald song. It is on a loop inside my head. Nova you are beyond talented in so many ways and have an amazing voice. Love this Nova and Tom. All aspects of the video are great, but the comic relief with him jumping, shooting and nearly falling really lightened up the seriousness of the video. It combines a serious message with inspiration, a light touch of humor and a seriously catchy beat.
