Perks of Being a Wallflower - I recommend being in an ok headspace when you read it. There’s the teen stuff, and then there’s the heavy stuff, and I got surprised (in a bad way) when this self-harm/suicide piece popped pop. It is DEFINITELY worth a read and has a piece of my heart, but I think it’s important you know what my English teacher didn’t tell me - it’s got some heavy content.

Too real!! I DNFed Rebecca at 200 pages. Hopefully I'll get back to it someday, but I put it down for Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries, which was whimsical and captivating. I also read My Dark Vanessa this year! The only 5-star, life changing book to make me physically nauseous.

My dark vanessa was also gorgeously written and stress-inducing

I picked 24 books to read in 2024 and I read 14 of them - I am also a mood reader so I’m happy with exceeding half of the ones I designated for the year 🤷‍♀️

My favorite aspect of Rebecca is that you never learn the narrator's name. Perfectly fits her characterization and the major theme of the book. Hope you can manage to finish it. It was difficult for me to get through the first half due to my ADHD, but I'm glad I did.

Watching you and Rachel has gotten me back into building a book collection again. I forgot how much I used to love to read. Got something familiar, Red Rain by R.L. Stine. I didnt know he actually wrote a few horror novels for adults, its good so far. Makes me feel like a teen again curling up with his books.

I read So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison, and loved it. I'm a sucker for vampire books, but all her other books are now on my TBR. I can definitely tell her books seem like an acquired taste. 😅

I really liked the butterfly garden a lot! But my roommate ended up thinking it was meh and too predictable so def a toss up!

I had to read Rebecca in high school and I agree! It’s painfully slow lol. It picks up in the 2nd half.

12:12 - shit I'm exactly the same way and I'm also trying to work it out in therapy. I'd be interested to know when you get any breakthroughs! You know, share notes :)

I really appreciate your efforts! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?

my partner loves the old tv adaption and the play version of rebecca! i think they did an essay on the book but i don't think they're as impressed by the book. they're always saying how the housekeeper and rebecca (or was it the new wife?) should have been in lesbians with each other heheh

That would have made so much more sense to me watching the movie.

If you can get ahold of the Alfred Hitchcock version of the movie Rebecca, it might help you finish the book. But, it’s not what you’re thinking it is at all. Plus the movie is super queer for 1940

I have read 2 Rachel Harris books and disliked them. I want to try the others, but I have a feeling she's just going to be one of those authors that I hate everything they put out even though it should be something I love.
I actually loved The Butterfly Garden, but do not recommend the rest of the books in the series. They went downhill pretty fast.

I love Dot Hutchisons Collector serie so much, and I'm so sad that it has not been translated to my first language, and because of that, nobody I know has read it 🥲 I would love to recommend it to my mum and grandma, who would also love it
