Just got my first Kansbol because of your very positive review. I really like it. It needs my own sharpening to fulfil my sharpening OCD. But wow, it’s hell of a great knife. In every aspect. So thank you a million Ps my first child (a girl) is coming right now so excited about both
The Mora Kansbol is the Mora 2000, 2.0 version. Improvements are a sharpened spine, a lanyard hole, & a slightly better handle design. The Kansbol = a good knife made better.
I'll be interested to see your review on this one... is it just a little sewing/craft knife with too little blade and handle (cute but NOT)? ...of course it will be quality... but a review idea may be to toss in little blade comparisons already proven like CS mini pen hunter w/ vg1 as similar pricing and general use.
Nobody asked me, but I personally love my Mora Eldris and recommend it. And no, it's not just a little sewing/craft knife, its useful for many purposes. The handle feels nice and snug in your hand, and it has a wicked sharp blade. It is great for city carry, especially in cities where people freak out or whine when they see you with a knife on your side. You can use it as a neck knife or just carry it in your pocket (like I do).
Thanks Jon... I can see a few of those up-sides you mention plus have, use, & really like MORA knives. I see this one as more sales pageantry, little gift blade, (neat little knife) than function. Might even get one or gift one... Useful -YES - BUT --- Mora - Wood Carving 120. Model FT04264. 6 3/4" overall. 2 1/4" thin design, tapered laminated steel blade. Oiled wood handle. Black sheath with drain hole.... would be all of those things you mentioned and far more useful working various tasks at same price w/ more durable edge holding steel on wood especially..
For woodcarving maybe. The Kansbol is designed as a hunters knife with bushcrafty features. (Skinning tip with a belly but with the good 'ol skandi grind for feather sticks and so on)
the Garberg is a sweet knife. I got it for $75, but it's well worth $100. performance wise I'd put it up against my Lt Wright's, or bark rivers. it can do anything they do , and just as well.
Brenton Carr theres better for ghe money and overall like the martiini full tang, cudeman knives, and terava jaakaripuuko, and one more i cant remember
Green & black would definitely look better than just green. I'd like to see one with the outer, hard polymer done in black and the inner area done in orange. I think that would be both pleasing to the eye and still be a good high visibility handle. (I've spent way too much time over the years looking for dropped or misplaced green, black and/or camo gear!) I'll probably still get one though.
Chris, I didn't look at all the comments, but the "gap" on the dangler belt loop is supposed to slide up further on the sheath. It clicks into place. Like on my Garberg, same thing. I don't know why, but I ordered one just to have. I do have the Eldris, I find it is too short for practicality except for around the ranch or work, stripping wires, etc. I have smaller more comfortable neck knives.
Chris, I believe that the "gap" in the sheath loop is intended to allow the loop to flex, thus grab the sheath. If the loop were the same thickness, all around, it would be an all or nothing fit, therefore, "pop off" more easily.
I'll definitely be ordering several of these when they are available. I've carried my Mora everyday for over a year. Farm work puts it through the wringer; and the knife has taken it all.
Yar! great knife and after seeing your video will definitely buy one from your store. ... I have a BIC firesteel, and have it charged with butane; it was really inexpensive and is almost failure-proof--so inexpensive that I bought so many of them that I have them everywhere.
Great review man! I’m from Sweden and I’ve been using Mora knives since I was kid. In Sweden most people take these knives for granted. Many people throws them away after they loose their edge. At least the cheap ones. I both fish, hunt and I’m avid outdoorsman. I find myself always coming back to Mora knives. But I do like using other knives as well. Anyway, great vid and keep up the good work with your channel!
When Mora announced the new product line - Garberg, Kansbol, Eldris - I completely ignored the Kansbol in favor of the other two. Now that I've seen her in action, I'm definitely going to pick one up. And you're right - sometimes you just gotta let a knife be a knife.
I think you'll like the handle better based on the way the Garberg feels vs the 2000. Fills the hand a bit more than the 2000 does. It seems Garberg and Kansbol have the same handle shape (but with slightly different materials).
Kansbol is basically a Mora 2000 upgrade. The handle feels better to hold as the 2000's was a bit too rubbery in my taste, the back of the blade is flat so you can use it to light the fire steel. The blade is a bit shorter but it's not much of a deal breaker. And don't get me wrong I love Mora 2000. Probably gone through 3 of the them and 2 of them nearly sliced my finger off because I was careless in my younger days. Either way it's nice that they released the kansbol, it's everything you could ask for in a knife.
Jason St Pierre I gave my father-in-law a Fallkniven H1, and he left it on his sail boat and it's completely rusted over now. It's frustrating when you give someone a nice, thoughtful, quality gift and they neglect it to the point of ruin.
Jason St Pierre i wish i had someone like that lol. no matter the price of the gift i cherish it. now if i get it in a trade and i dont like it ya bet im gonna trade up for something better or give it to someone less fortunate. sadly when i tell my family i want bushcraft related things they get me gift cards to sporting good stores or plastic workout bottles. i try to explain to them just because it say "outdoor equipment" doesnt mean its for bushcrafting. id much rather get a simple spoon knife, draw knife, axe, saw, knife pretty much anything made by Morakniv or sold by wildernessoutfitters. if its a gift and its something i like such as real bushcraft items ya bet im gonna use it until it cant be used anymore.
GrizzlyHillbilly I also prefer stainless steel in my knives. I have carbon, but don't enjoy the maintenance and would never lend them out either. I'm digging the Matt Graham primitive buah knofe in SS
This made my day, I really wanted a new Mora and I was looking around today online and couldn't pick one and now I've decided I'm going to go with this one because of this video. I have the Mora heavy duty companion carbon steel and my wife has the regular companion in stainless and we both love them. Such high-quality knives at such a great price. I just love the feel of the Mora in my hand it's just such a beautiful perfect little knife. I had this Bowie knife that I bought at Walmart and it bent and chipped The first time I tried batoning a smallish log, my wife then chopped straight through that log with her little Mora companion and that was the first time she ever batoned, though we don't plan on doing a lot of batoning with the Moras because as you said we just want to use these as knives mostly. By the way I returned that broke Bowie knife to Walmart and replaced it with a BK9 and it was one of your videos that helped convince me to get that particular knife and it is amazing! Sidenote an interesting coincidence, my dad works for Sandvik the company that makes the stainless steel blades for Mora.
Well said on the topic of 'batoning'...I have never worried about batoning a knife, because I use an axe or a Terava Skrama. If you don't want to bust a knife....don't baton it, work out in the gym and carry a hatchet or axe. As you rightly said, knives are for cutting and slicing. If anyone loses an axe and has to use a knife, they shouldn't be going into the bush. My grandpa had a hatchet that he got when he was a young man, my late father had it after he passed and I inherited it until the cutting edge was totally worn away. This indeed looks like a nice knife, thanks.
In my 1s major camping trip I took my Mora companion and two other knifes and my Condor scout hatchet. I did all my major task with my Mora and use my hatchet for my chopping and let me tell that combo work just as fine and other campers with their high ended knifes. I have a heavy-duty HD and it rocks like any high price knife.I looking to buy one of these knife for Christmas. ..
Every tool has its purpose, this knife elegantly fits into the medium category of a knife, it isn't large enough to baton with, it isn't small enough to carve with. What it seems to specialize in are the core functions a knife is meant to fulfil: broad carving, slicing, skinning, filleting, processing small pieces of wood. I think it fills its intended roles far better than any heavier blade that can be batoned ever would. Rather than bringing a knife that can baton, I'd rather just have my hatchet. Axes split wood far better than any knife ever will, and will always break far less often. A hatchet can fill the role of a "batoning knife", as well as stand in for a larger axe if needs be. Everyone's kit is different, and as long as you aren't dead or dying you're doing just fine out there. In terms of steel, I think I prefer stainless. Less likely to get busted up by the weather, functionally identical to carbon steel, no big difference at all, seriously, I've used stainless and carbon, they are just not different enough to care. But stainless doesn't rust nearly as easily. And I agree with you, I sure as hell am not going to be hitting my knife with a rock, I simply am not going to end up in that situation. There is no "what if", I'll start a friction fire if I have literally only my knife.
Thanks for the video. On the gap…. Shove the oval up higher until it meets the top of the sheath. Its about another centimeter on your knife. It will be very secure, no gap and will never accidently slip off.
Your reviews are so good, you have earned a sub withing the first minute of the first video I saw, I am NOT a knife person and I just am looking into a good, cheap, reliable, simple, sharp, and easy to maintain knife and you have shown me not only other brands and comparisons, but you gave such a brutally honest contrast of knife community members and ideals allowing a person not as well informed as you to know who to trust and who may be just a little biased, I know who I will tell my friends and family about for sure.
Mora Companion- great knive for simple every day cuting tasks. But just for that. Perfect budget option only for those who had never try Kansbol. Mora Kansbol- fantastic knive for food prepare and wood cuting. Shape and steel is in another level than Companion. Kansbol is a little bit too light and too thin for biger wood. But have fantastic balance for small hand. Perfect edc- for price and performance. Mora Garberg- perfect tool for wood cuting and for hard tasks in the forest. I recomend this knive for people who have big hands and very strong hand grip. Kansbol and Garberg is an example of perfect and simple knives.
got the 2000 for my kid.. same blade, never a big mora fan but I have to say, absolutely the best for little details. .notches, trap making ect.. great knife
Chris, I have an Eldris. Think mini Kansbol. It is a really neat little package and is an ideal neck knife. Just make sure to get the version tat comes with the belt loop attachment. Same edge grind in a MUCH shorter package, but super effective in the tasks you just demo'd.
Chris, your videos are great regardless of what recording device you use. I picked up a knife made in Finland at a gun show. They sell them on Amazon. What a great knife! I got the classic for $15. Now don't dismiss it as junk. You can find them on Amazon, it comes with a leather sheath, super sharp and impeccable quality. I think it is a Finish competitor of Mora. I own a few Mora's and this knife is really better. The company website says Marttiini knives are still manufactured at the Arctic Circle. Today they are a combination of generations of craftsmanship and modern technology that create knives that are not only sharp, but also perfectly represent the beauty and toughness of the North. They're called "puukko" - the Nordic knife. For $18 you will be pleasantly surprised. Keep up the great videos.
I own 4 Mora's and my most used knife is my MG HD COMPANION I love my Mora's and I really want to get my hands on the new Mora Garberg and give it a go
Circling back around to this video years later - you said if you lose a mora it’s no big deal. Well two years strong with my Garberg C and I’d be devastated if I lost it. Not cause it was 65 bucks but because it has a lot of sentimental value now. Great use of the kansbol btw
Nice review of the Kansbol knife. I just wanted to comment about the sheath. The belt loop attachment surrounding the body of the sheath slides up farther than you had it in the video and goes into place with a satisfying "click." Then that polymer ring with the "gap" you mentioned will be positioned directly under the little rim of the sheath. Glad you talked about "letting a knife just be a knife" instead of a do-all multi-tool. Thanks.
Great review, Chris. I'm in love with my Mora knives. I've got severe neuropathy in my hands from cancer in the lymph nodes. I use the sharpest tools out there because I have to work smart, not hard. Your videos are like Holy Writ. I sprung for my Corona saws because of your recommendation. I'm trying to decide which Mora to get besides the Bushcraft, Companion C, and Precision carver. I'm intrigued by the Kansbol grinds. Thanks for actually putting it to work in realistic situations. Not putting it in a drain pipe with dynamite 🧨 or some crap. 🙄
I have broken few moras. But every time at work, hitting with hammer and knife was every time between some metal parts that needed to take apart. So they don't brake easily.
I own a mora 2000 and love it. I like the look of that kansbol and am really interested in seeing that neck knife they just released. I hope to see you do a video on that soon.
Dang Chris and here I thought that was Less Stroud with a voice over. Totally in the WOE! LOL... Yah know at 51as I evolve (or regress) as to what I like in a knife, you said it right, "you gotta let a knife be a knife!". Well done my brother... "Long live the JEX"!
Bought the knife and don't regret it. Like the overall design, the sheath is super cool also. A little bit shorter than mora 2000 though. Wish they have kept the same length. Thanks for the review!
2:56 You don't have the belt loop slid all the up on the sheath. Keep sliding up towards the opening until you hear and feel a click. It's a bitch to do, but once you've taken it on and off a few times, you will wear it down to where it's easier to slide off and on. Thanks for all the video's Chris! I really really enjoy your channel!!!
Well done video!... I'm planning on buying one of those knives. I've been doing my homework on it for a while for a budget friendly good all-purpose blade. Whether it's your primary blade or your secondary blade, you can't go wrong for under $30. You are very correct a very sharp stainless steel blade with a good grip handle in wet conditions Make a world of a difference of performance...
Yes! I have to congratulate you on your continuing effort to review and showcase solid, high quality gear, which can be found at budget prices. Looks like a great bushcraft knife, and the rub when purchasing gear, or in this case knives, is how do you justify buying $200.00 knives, when a Mora Kansbol, or a Bushcraft Black, or even a Mora Garberg are available? Actually, instead of the Mora Garberg I really prefer the Finnish (Mora Garberg "KILLER") Terava Jaakaripuukko from Varusteleka of Finland. So, I have to ask the question, "how many knives can you water ski behind?" I guess some have a lot of expendable funds to purchase knives, and some just like to collect knives. For those who are frugal, the sub $100, and in many cases sub $50.00, and even sub $25.00 Mora's, Terava's, Schrade's, Ontario's, Condor's, CRKT's, Becker's, Opinel's, and the Cold Steel's knives, (just to name a few), work as good as the $200.00+ knives. Thanks... good review!
If you're looking for more budget knives to review, don't forget the Condor Mayflower. It is the best budget priced neck knife I've ever laid hands on. It comes with a belt sheath though. If you do end up getting one I can send you a neck carry sheath for it.
Hi. How do you find the big leather belt loop? Doesn't it make the knife swing when walking? Other Mora models have the sheath with a stiff plastic belt holder, which I assume it will make the knife stay in place when walking.
Great Knife Chris I love mine ! ,,,the Space you speak of is where the snap retention addition that I got with the Kansbol Kit ,,, Cheers my Friend !!,,,,Spook
Chris, take a look at the Casstrom No. 10 knife. Any chance of a review on this and some other Scandi-grind forest-knives ? -Great channel, keep up the stellar work. Darren.
in this case the partial tang might actually be stronger. i mean it means more material on the handle part, which is arguably more fragile then the steel blade tang part. and a full tang blade means your handle will be a tube instead of a block with a tang stuck into it.
Personally I see the batoning as more of a durability test. And despite some people on the internet saying you should never baton with a knife, many knives are designed and made to deal with batoning now. I have my 3v Jessmuk as my primary and a hatchet. I did baton with it because I needed to know if there were flaws in the blade with the heat treat, etc, before I trusted it as my outdoor carry knife.
Just stumbled across your channel when I found your video on the pure nostalgia 80s survival knife I had as a kid and like what I've seen in your other videos. Subscribed.
+Jason Walker Id use it more often but it's kind of a pain getting the clips off the phone. Pretty much have to upload to Google drive (slow) or to TH-cam unlisted and download using Firefox. Afraid to constantly pop out the SD card since it really isn't made for constant opening/closing. Would be awesome if there was a media SD port that popped out easy like any other camera.
PREPAREDMIND101 Have you tried using Side Sync by Samsung in the galaxy apps store to move files back and forth from your phone to PC? It essentially mirrors your phone on your computer enabling drag and drop functionality between devices.
The Mora 2000 is to my knowledge used by Swedish military service mostly due to the price isn't very high and the knife well you have to do a lot to actually manage to brake it.
I finally got around to pulling the trigger on this one. Love the Billy Bushcraft remark. Sounds like a survivor geeks TH-cam channel. As usual your videos are well done
+ken sutton The 52... My only nemesis for People's Choice at Blade Show. Lol. They should just give it to Schrade every year. Even I couldn't bear their social media juggernaut.
Hey Chris, would you be able to tell me if the knife can fit in the sheath for left handed carry? It appears ambidextrous just from looking at it but I can't be sure.
Another awsome product from mora. my dad is a hunter and he processes all his game with his 15 Bug-Mora :) doesnt matter if hog or deer or what else. so yeah it slices really awsome :)
Hello Chris, thanks for your review on the Mora Kansbol. I like the knife and it's at a great price point. As long as you don't get crazy with camping expectations, it will be a good camping companion. Thanks for sharing. 🤗
The gap you are referring to is because you need to press the holder all the way up until it clicks in place.
I'm so glad you're one of the few who just lets a knife be a knife. Great review once again Chris.
Just got my first Kansbol because of your very positive review. I really like it. It needs my own sharpening to fulfil my sharpening OCD. But wow, it’s hell of a great knife. In every aspect.
So thank you a million
Ps my first child (a girl) is coming right now
so excited about both
The Mora Kansbol is the Mora 2000, 2.0 version.

Ironically, the Mora Eldris showed up an hour after posting this video.

For woodcarving maybe. The Kansbol is designed as a hunters knife with bushcrafty features. (Skinning tip with a belly but with the good 'ol skandi grind for feather sticks and so on)
I love the design and especially the color. I own like 9 Moras so I don't need it, but I'll find an excuse lol
Looking forward to a "Bag-O'-Moras" review on your channel!
Same I own the garberg but still love my kansbol.
It’s funny to circle back around to this comment and now it’s James’ favorite mora. And has inspired his own design. Funny how things work
For a guy on a budget I love when you review things that are under fifty bucks. Thanks for the vid.

Nice! I wish they'd make one in orange, or orange & black. I like high visibility handles on my important tools.

A great addition to the Mora family !! Thanks for your review.
I'll definitely be ordering several of these when they are available. I've carried my Mora everyday for over a year. Farm work puts it through the wringer; and the knife has taken it all.

Ataman Atlas lol well then call me lame for liking it idgaf!
@Paulo Hernandez did you notice at the end he said "I'm going to buy mora these" 🤣

The belt loop ring goes further up and locks into place with a nice click.

Woodsman Spirit if. But if you break your axe handle out in the woods, you may have to baton a piece of wood to start making another one.
Learn how to use an axe and maintain it. There is training out there if needed and it would be worthwhile for anyone starting such outdoor activities.

It is everything you say it is. Thanks for a no BS review. Very informative.
Thanks for the video. On the gap…. Shove the oval up higher until it meets the top of the sheath. Its about another centimeter on your knife. It will be very secure, no gap and will never accidently slip off.
You should try the Mora Robust.
iv never worried doing batoning with moras, like you said small stuff is fine
8:00 “Sometimes you just gotta let a knife be a knife” - Preparedmind101 - seriously epic all time great knife quotes imo
Well, I have done a lot of things with it in past 2 days. Briefly, considering all aspects, in one sentence, Kansbol is the BMW of Moras.
Very cool Mora. I look forward to you reviewing the Eldris.
+David Logan Got it today. I liked it.
+Donovan Goodwin Thanks
I have 2 Companions. What I like best about them is the downsloping handle, with a fingerguard. Fits me like a glove.
Just purchased a few of these for anything else coming down this year!
Kansbol and Garberg is an example of perfect and simple knives.
got the 2000 for my kid.. same blade, never a big mora fan but I have to say, absolutely the best for little details. .notches, trap making ect.. great knife
I like the design on the Kansbol but I would like to see a carbon version of it
Chris, I have an Eldris.
Can you please do a comparison on Mora Kansbol vs Mora Garberg :) thank you and i really like all your reviews
Have a Garberg and Kansbol. I like both.
Man I'm in love with this knife. So much so I'm ordering it today!!!
"Long live the JEX"!
i got a mora garberg recently, their most amazing and robust model yet however it came blund out of the box
it just came to me . its a great knife indeed ! I bought it for 43 euros in my country , Greece . thank you for this useful review !
So, I have to ask the question, "how many knives can you water ski behind?"
I guess some have a lot of expendable funds to purchase knives, and some just like to collect knives.
Mora knives are awesome.
Who makes that ferro rod?
DropForgedSurvival Rick Lindsey!!!
If you're looking for more budget knives to review, don't forget the Condor Mayflower.
It is the best budget priced neck knife I've ever laid hands on. It comes with a belt sheath though.
If you do end up getting one I can send you a neck carry sheath for it.
+Easy E $6 more you can get a Jess-X, lol. Never seen that one though. I'll consider giving it a look.
You put out two great points, let a knife be a knife, and one in every car or as back up.
Hi How do I find videos in chronological order? Sometimes I cannot find the most recent.
+Donald Langlois Go to any channel and click on the "videos" tab and the top will be most recent.
I bought the orange one. what a great knife
I love it. "Let a knife be a knife.". Here endeth the lesson :)
A great review and a great knife. Like what you say about batoning. Too many videos show knives having the crap beaten out of them.
Hi. How do you find the big leather belt loop? Doesn't it make the knife swing when walking? Other Mora models have the sheath with a stiff plastic belt holder, which I assume it will make the knife stay in place when walking.
Hi Brother Chris This is Spaz In The Bush this about my ULTRAFIRE 5000 LUMIN FLASHLIGHT EDC WAITED ALL MOST A WHOLE month but it's finally here
Great Knife Chris I love mine ! ,,,the Space you speak of is where the snap retention addition that I got with the Kansbol Kit ,,, Cheers my Friend !!,,,,Spook
I have two Kansbols and i like how sharp they are out of the box.Affordable quality knife🙂
What are the advantages to the mixed/blended/hybrid grind? Looks like an awesome knife.
+Prepared 2 Thrive scandi good for bushcrafty cuts like feathers and notches. Flat good for finesse stuff like slicing and skinning.
Good review. I have one of these and love it. Thanks and take care.
Chris, take a look at the Casstrom No. 10 knife. Any chance of a review on this and some other Scandi-grind forest-knives ?
-Great channel, keep up the stellar work. Darren.
in this case the partial tang might actually be stronger.
i mean it means more material on the handle part, which is arguably more fragile then the steel
blade tang part.
and a full tang blade means your handle will be a tube instead of a block with a tang stuck into it.
I like this one too I noticed right off that the blade is made similar to the Cold Steel PeaceMaker III
"I'm not super imposing my voice over William Meyers"!!! Awesome guy, thanks Chris!!!!
Just stumbled across your channel when I found your video on the pure nostalgia 80s survival knife I had as a kid and like what I've seen in your other videos.
Subscribed.
My feeling is if a knife breaks go buy another one. I love Moras. My wife enjoys using my Kansbol in the kitchen. The Garberg Carbon is my favorite.
An excellent and honest review!
Wow, This was filmed with a front facing camera? The S7 has some nice lenses
Yep!
Jason Walker I don't have a PC. I have a MacBook Pro. But ironically, I don't like iPhone.
There is a Mac version
The Mora 2000 is to my knowledge used by Swedish military service mostly due to the price isn't very high and the knife well you have to do a lot to actually manage to brake it.
I finally got around to pulling the trigger on this one. Love the Billy Bushcraft remark. Sounds like a survivor geeks TH-cam channel. As usual your videos are well done
this knife looks like a good all around utility camp knife. my main camp knife is the schf52. tired of 300 dollar knives.
+ken sutton Everyone needs at least one.
+ken sutton The 52... My only nemesis for People's Choice at Blade Show. Lol. They should just give it to Schrade every year. Even I couldn't bear their social media juggernaut.
Nice vid Chris. Looks like a good knife to have (can never have enough blades) look forward to picking a few up when they come out!
Hey Chris, would you be able to tell me if the knife can fit in the sheath for left handed carry? It appears ambidextrous just from looking at it but I can't be sure.
Appears to be another great knife from Mora. Can't see spending 89-$100 bucks on a Garberg. I have an Outdoor 2000. May upgrade to the new Mora soon.
another dope video, chris...keep these budget-minded vids coming! stay safe...
Good job Chris .
What is the ferro rod make and model again? That baby joker works like a champ!!!!
That's a sweet little knife. It looks really useful.
Good video Chris as always
Looks like a sweet one! Nice spine! What ferro rod was that?
Another awsome product from mora. my dad is a hunter and he processes all his game with his 15 Bug-Mora :) doesnt matter if hog or deer or what else. so yeah it slices really awsome :)
Hello Chris, thanks for your review on the Mora Kansbol. I like the knife and it's at a great price point. As long as you don't get crazy with camping expectations, it will be a good camping companion. Thanks for sharing. 🤗
