  • I recently acquired this new product called Skinners Sock Shoes. Skinners claims that they are useful for traveling, walking, running, hiking, cycling, camping and water sports. I decided to put them to the test and take them hiking and flyfishing.

Great review. I bought a couple pair just on a whim without any research. I thought they'd be good for camping, walking the dogs and doing yard work. It would be nice to see a follow up video after some hard wearing.

I like how they role up into such a small package. I have been using barefoot shoes for years now. Best thing out there.

I love how they say you can use these anywhere... I'd love to see someone using these for camping, trekking or just getting around the Texas brush. With all the amazingly friendly vegetation we have here in the state, such as cacti, mesquites and just countless other amazingly sharp and pointy delights just waiting for anyone's unprotected feet to pass by, wearing these should make for an unforgettable experience. Not to mention the spiders, scorpions, centipedes, snakes... fun foot friendly critters. Also, here in Texas we don't have a lot of that nice round, smooth river rock, except around rivers... But we do have tons of big, sharp, pointy rocks to jab your foot soles into and break your toes against. These socks look pretty cool for use on greener pastures but here where I live, wearing these will only work at the mall or camping in your backyard, which is not exactly everywhere.

Why are trying to walk in sharp rocks anyways?

@@MastarCheef1337 trying? I don't have a choice. It's basically all sharp, unfriendly ground here where I live. Did you not read my comment?

I loved the video and the review! Thank you so much for making this though I do have to say....that's not a river and that is said with the Crocodile Dundee movie voice about the knife lol!

Very cool concept! What do you think is on the bottom outer sole?

Would it be worth while to get a pair of water resistance socks? Or just the shoe by itself?

I suppose that it depends on your intended use. These Skinners sock/shoes are not waterproof and are really made for people that like natural foot movement. They do not offer a great amount of protection if you are walking/hiking long distances. I never use waterproof socks. I prefer to use footwear that can get wet, but that drys quickly.

What's the difference between these and vibram 5 finger shoes.

Boddah This slides on and fits like a sock and the sole is thinner.

I wonder, they aren't completely waterproof right? Because then it traps moisture in your sock and that's not good for your feet

Anton Bubolz Correct, these socks are not waterproof. However I wanted to test their ability in water and if they would dry quickly. They do stay wet for a while, but on a warm and sunny day they dried fairly quickly within about 30 minutes.

are they cold for walking on the house?

    • @theadventurebeginstv
      @theadventurebeginstv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

They are actually warm and great for walking around the house with a smooth floor because they grip the surface.

How about running on city roads sir

If you’re accustomed to barefoot running I think that these would offer some protection, yet allow your feet to naturally feel the ground. Probably the closest thing to running barefoot.

The package doesn't look exactly minimalistic. Basically the price and packaging negate the meaning of a minimalist "shoe"
