Good video bud and also 10/23/23 USA and canada ball pythons: 46759 and today 10/23/24 39719. So we haven't really shaved off 15k ball pythons more like 7k. So its not quite as rosy as you make out. We peaked last year early November so it'll be interesting to see peak to peak and trough to trough but I do think auctions have helped move lots of animals in general. I just think the breed everything no matter what part of the hobby might finally get the message this year and actually cut production.
Yea agree. The ball python market didn’t stabilize. Most everyone I know are getting out of the pet rocks and into more interesting harder to breed snakes. Ball pythons are too easy to breed and the market is saturated with them.
Personally got into the hobby because I do live stage acting, use them on stage. In the meantime I'm still learning about them and decided to do breeding. However I've not had a successful clutch yet. But I do have double a triple recessives in the plans or works. Sunset, sunset clown, DG clown hypo. Even have quad hets and also 5-6 hets. But for me it's more about stage use not money. Once some of my girls lay I'll be parting with. Currently have 43 in collection until I start getting clutches.
I think breeders need to slow down on breeding for triple recessives. It's a byproduct massacre. So much to do still with singles and doubles devalued due to big breeder mentality
I have won 2 auctions this year. My first was a male pastel axanthic pie bald ball python for half its value. My second win was a black devil female Boa Imperator again for half price.
Yeah I still don’t fully understand the het pricing these days. You can buy some really powerful animals for dirt cheap right now just because they are hets and not visuals
Great video and yeah, het prices are stupid. I’m not complaining but it just doesn’t make any sense. Ultimately, the economy is going to drive the ball python market, but I think troubles are compounded when a bunch of breeders are forced into massive sell offs. This certainly isn’t a bad time to get in, but if the economy nosedives, the right person with cash on hand and a stable income, could rise to dizzying heights in this hobby, very quickly.
Thank you for sharing this perspective. It feels very on point with what we’ve noticed since we entered the hobby. Looking forward to the next five years!
Can definitely see that! I do t think it is a Sunset project type of thing though as it is true pretty much across the board for any project, I just feel better using Sunset as an example since it is our favorite project and I am more familiar with it than all of the others.
I hope someone in the position sees this as an opportunity to make a separate auction platform outside of morph market. Perhaps like a subscription type thing similar to the extra $25 that people were able to spend before and people will pay it (probably)
I own an auction site, that I’m not using, I used it to sell custom knives, it was wildly successful, until pay pal stepped in and said we were selling dangerous weapons, and started keeping people’s money, it was a nightmare! Maybe I’ll start it back up, just for the auctions, and charge like $2 bucks per listing like I did in the past
I like yall and appreciate the time you take to do these videos.... HOWEVER.... the way you are animated when youre reading your script is so overexaggerated and cringe... Talk more like youre talking, not like you are reading.
The prices haven't really stabilized Steven lol.

Really awesome video!
Thanks so much, we appreciate you watching friends!
Brilliant insight, as usual.
I'm happy that DNA testing is helping get rid of unwanted clutches from people proving out stock
Shed testing is absolutely huge! Thank you for watching and for leaving your comment! We really appreciate it!

Completely agree man!

What a blessing to be able to live in the first world and do this, like we have electricity wtf... wild. Thank God for the infrastructure.yolo❤
Your example sure makes it sound like the sunset project is a bit overpriced…

No one is going to pay a subscription to sell their animals when there are free platforms to do it.
