Why doesn’t Sephora do skin-tone sets like light, medium, dark? The colors wouldn’t be as close as with undertones, but at least everyone would have options to flatter their skin

As someone with a smaller collection who watches a lot of beauty content, it can be so hard to pass up these sets that contain so many products I’ve been curious about. I appreciate these videos because they help me realize whether they are actually a savings to me, and whether I am actually getting the products I want. Shade is a great point; at the end of the day I would rather have one or two items in the exact formula and shade I want than a handful of products that are just OK.
You pointed out my main concern with these kits. I've noticed this trend for years and thus have NEVER bought one of them. The color selections are always shades that I won't use, that are just not right for me. It's a shame because I think these little bundles would be so much fun.

yeah, i love a bargain but i already have way too much makeup without getting a bunch of things i don't even want just to get a shade i didn't choose of a product i do like. my nieces, however, are just getting into makeup and are in the phase where they just have to try a bunch of stuff to figure out what works for them/what they like. this seems like a great way to maintain my title as The Cool Aunt 👑
I'm a sucker for fragrance samples, I love getting to actually wear them, BUT- I definitely prefer the smaller, cheaper sampler set to redeem a travel size. A full bottle will take me a lifetime to go through!
I bought the fragrance sample and it came today. 18 fragrance samples for 98.00 and redeemable for a full size. There are several I’m interested including pricey ones like By Killian.

I think these are just meant as gifts really, good all rounders and not necessarily something a beauty fanatic would want/need as they'd probably buy products individually

I used to love these bc I liked to try a lot of the popular products out there, but I realized I now just have a lot of small products that I don’t need
I like that Sephora offers these sets but I agree the shades aren’t always what people want and I also don’t like how the price of these sets keeps increasing but the size and amounts of products keeps decreasing. That’s a turnoff alone. Like you said you’re better just buying the item you want or waiting for a sale.

I wish with the sets you were able to pick one item in them to customize your color choice. For that price you get eveything it still says but for one you can change the color of one item

Sharing these sets with friend sounds good in theory, but my friend would want the same products as I do. Unless it's set like Tarte does with two very different mascaras or same formula blushes in different shades.

Last year I would’ve jumped at buying the first set or the lip one when in reality I have a lot of the products and just a lot in general.

Sephora had their best lip set at the begining of this year. The lip set this time has same lippies. I bought the blush set with Lawless and DM blush bc I love the pink pouch and I have only Iced Coffee from that set, so wanna try others
I never buy sets but the blush set is tempting me. I haven’t tried any of those products. The DM and lawless were already on my wishlist.
I ordered the blush and lip set for $42 yesterday. I enjoy the sets, it gives me a chance to try a variety of brands that have interested me. I also love holiday sets from various brands, Christmas time is my favorite time to shop!
I love these sets because they’re super fun to try new things without breaking the bank but I’m on a no buy now so this was helpful haha

In our Sephora stores in the Middle East we don’t have these types of value sets but I still watch the video because I enjoy watching anything from you Kelly ❤
The cologne sets always have a better deal. Last year you could get a Tom Ford cologne that retails for $150 and the set was $95. This year you can buy the cologne set and redeem for larger sizes than perfumes. 😑 So for my husband, he can get the 2oz of YSL Y in the set for $95 (retails for $130). But in the perfume set YSL Libre is only redeemable for 1oz bottle which is $95 so there's no savings. Super lame that the perfume/women's sampler is not as good of a deal as the cologne/men's sampler.
If you buy from discount sites, you can get Libre and Y at better deals than this set. This set is a great deal for the more expensive brands like Tom Ford or Killian though
The perfume sampler also has a Kilian perfume that was not included in the breakdown. It's the only one I cant get cheaper in the gray market besides the café rosé one.

used a perfume set to get a replica scent id been wanting and saved money, amazing purchase🤩 and a few years ago they had a lip gloss set that had like 3 full sizes and a bunch of deluxe minis, soooo worth it bc since they’re glosses all the colors worked!!

That perfume set is 10 bucks more than last year. I swear it’s going up ten bucks at a time. I remember when they were 65 and you got a full size 3.4 oz.

thank you SO MUCH for this! Saving so much money after watching! Looking at the blue bag I realized I just want the set for the blushes..it makes more sense to just purchase them separately! Plus the skincare stuff is SO small, and I already have my travel skincare.
Good advice to add up what the set is worth to YOU. The Tower 28 spray, Paula’s Coice BHA and Haus Labs gloss are items I would buy anyway and add up to the $69 for the set, so everything else is “free” to me. Thanks!❤

Point perks are not free too. You have to consider you can buy $100 Sephora card for 2500 points so if you are spending 500 points that’s equivalent of of $20

I don’t think I’ve ever purchased a Sephora favorites set, but I do like some brand sets. Also value wise, sometimes I would rather try 3 shades of something I like but pay a little more per oz than a full size of just one I wouldn’t use up. My favorite sets though are when a brand does a full size product I actually go through with a couple sample sizes for the same price or a dollar or two more than the one product.

So funny u r talking about this I bought the 5 piece lip one over summer for what 35.00 and the vanilla perfume sampler got a free travel size that was 34.00 I just purchased the 5 mini mascaras with a free full size 28.00 and the clean one for 35.00 with 6 products the thing is I'm growing my collection still mascara I will always use I use all the lip and perfumes the other 2 I just ordered ❤😊

@@KellyGooch yes I already own the tower 28 in brown so I got the clean me up let that has 3 full size for 35 and 3 mini and since I use the mascara I got 2 full size n 2 mini 1 deluxe for 15 extra bucks but the thing is people beware you must be cautious of the size and the price I will only buy travel size IF there's a deal like the rare beauty mini highlight is tiny the regular is 25 which is only 9 dollars more and it's like 3 times the amount
I don't have any of the products from the Glitz & Glam set, and it's the one set where I'd actually use them all! I appreciate that the brow product is a mini because realistically, it'd take a long time for me to go through it. Not buying it just yet, but it's in my favorites for now
If you end up liking that brow product, the Elf version is a perfect dupe in my opinion (I’ve used both). Also bear in mind it’s much easier to apply if you have the special spoolie/spatula tool, which I don’t think comes in the kit.

I realized your logic after a year or two of boxycharm etc. most of it I ended up hiving away. The yet to be released set of mascara samples with a voucher for a full size is one of my favorite Sephora sets.
I love getting the mini size of the lash serum for travel. I use the full size at home, so having a mini for travel is great.

Sephora has been making errors for years! Don't they have Editors to review the final version before it goes live??
The sets always look so appealing, but when you break it down, they are such a rip off. Even if you want to try a certain product, if it isn’t the color you want, then you’re not going to get much use out of it, and I can smell perfumes in store! Why would I pay money to have my options limited to those 18 scents and to have the actual size of the bottle limited when redeeming the voucher? What if you don’t really like any of them? You either don’t get the final bottle, but the money is gone, or you get one because you spent the money but you don’t even like the scent. Anyway, love the red top on you! These videos are fun lol, but after enough time spent watching HLP, I just see them as traps.

I own something from each of the sets so none made sense for me personally. I bought a Summer Fridays lip balm instead of a set since that was something that kept catching my eye

The first set is my favorite! But like you said, I usually buy what I like so I have most of those products! I want the haus labs lippie in that shade and I want to try the make up mario blush in a different shade than the one in the set, so I don’t think is worth it😢

I'm always tempted to get these sets but I have to pause and ask myself #1) if I'd really use all the products, #2) if the shades would suit my skintone, and of course, #3) if the brands included are cruelty free, if I can't check all the boxes then it's a no for me 🙅♀️ I guess that's why most of the times I end up not buying anything 🤪😂🤣... oh well...
What I like to do with these sets is if I like a few of the products, buy the set and then gift out the rest
