Can’t believe you appraised and valued a car without seeing it 😅
I've got a trade in .....for a Focus it's in pristine condition ( may require a "touch in") 167k miles but it's worth £6000 when should I bring it down to collect my payment?😂
That’s actually not that unusual. ‘Subject to inspection’. It’s a tricky area to be in because it sets expectations with the customer. Pulling back money for undisclosed issues/defects should have been the way forward from there. Mismatched Chinese there’s on the same axle would have set off alarm bells with me.
He knew when to come in just before closing - sneaky....
Sadly, premium cars nowadays, paticularly BMW's and Audi's, usually end up with people who want the image but don't want to pay the maintenance!
What about the washer cover on the bumper 😂 what a heap. Jason needs a talking too, not his money pissing away.
I remember you saying previously all px's are now be checked before making an offer - Jason chasing a sale 🤣
Interestingly, quite a few dealers in my area are now telling buyers to take their px's to WBAC or similar. I suspect they want them to break the bad news of their px trade value.
Any car that comes in with ditch finders on there needs taking a closer look at. If they cut corners on tyres and they are the only thing keeping you in a straight line, they’ll bodge everything else. Looks like the typical can just about afford a half decent car, but couldn’t afford the maintenance.
A car with that mileage and age I don’t think budgets are a deal breaker to be honest
Hi Joe, just watching that roof go down scared the life out of me, so much to go wrong. 😮😮😮
It’s kinda beautiful to watch ….. but you do wait for awful scraping noises 😂
Great video and content. love the front headlight washer not going back into place. Would make a project car for someone.
Ouch! That bloke deffo knew exactly what to do.
A mate of mine who sold cars for many years people would come in do a deal, and agree on the price they would return to pick up their new car bring in their present motor, having changed the tyres and removed various things.
Place I worked at, you'd hand the customers keys to managment for appraisal, he'd come back with a figure, he'd check it out while you were doing the test drive with the customer, how cars are these days having a quick walkaround with glasses guide and giving a price have gone.
Great presentation and well presented.
you dishing out quality content with ease these days!
big team behind you or just a genius at work?
Water ingress on those. Sits in the sills on both rear sides. Easy to fix. Go under each rear sill and remove rubber plugs to drain. Basically water sits in and if left will overflow into the car. I agree though out to trade.
You're definitely not UK based, its always sunny where you are! 😂great content.
The high pressure fuel pump is driven by the timing chain, which is at the back of the engine, realistically it is engine out to replace it and when you're in there the chain must be replaced, you could easily spend 600 to 1000quid depending on where the parts are bought....
Great vid👌🏻
Looks a lovely car Joe🎉😊
Great vid again, hope you do one on the Jaguar xkr
The M3 is gorgeous Joe Thanks 🎉❤😊
I love the M3 at the end. All the best.
Good call to move it on. It's my experience those roofs tend to leak quite badly as they get older - and none on the roof specialist will touch them. A retail nightmare in the making...
Roof just needs readjusting or rubbers replaced if leaking. The roof has 2 gas struts which also fail and are easy to change which is another common fault they get.
That customer knew exactly what he was doing, I have looked at a car without my car previously, had an estimated value and left a refundable deposit so that both parties can pull out of the deal does not suit when the p/x is valued.
Unfortunately its a always a risk when taking in p/x, even your mechanic would not have picked up on the fuel rail issue from a drive.
SOP in place to get all p/x driven by a mechanic is the way forward but how will that work on sats.
That old is certainly smart bit of kit ,love a gadget
These are not worth selling the N47 engine timing chain problems can appear at any time and then its a huge bill, no way you can tell when its going to fail and its an engine out repair. Auction = sensible way of avoiding future pain. Love your updates sorry zero interest in looking at Insta please keep updates coming on here as well.
Black wheels , ditch finders on the back and a stringfellow interior . 3 red flags
Another great video Joe..
Why does Jason go for that popped collar look?? It doesn't look cool for a bloke knocking 60..😅😅😅
Poor guy, just as he's picked himself up he's been knocked down again. Seems a genuine chap too
Lovely car, once they hit over 100,000 things start to go wrong and peeps chuck them in as they don’t wanna spend on them. Good video ❤ :-)
Hi Joe. I think this Car wasn't checked properly because the Seller was upgrading to a better BMW while trading in a BMW. I'm not sure, but it is worth looking into, Joe. 😢. This Car would be perfect for me over here in Ireland, lol. And it drives nicely. It's not the end of the World. 👌. I love the new haircut, mate lol. Jesus, that BCA Auction is a massive place. I bet this BMW, gets a decent price. Anyway, Joe, great video as always my friend. 💯👌👍🥰 🇮🇪
All it needs is a buff and some new plates, surely?
Interesting content
Shame as it looks a nice one. Great video
I remember this the whole situation was a bit “slippery” how he came after hours so you didn’t plug the obd eleven in & maybe do the checks you normally would. Put it in the auction. Bangin out the content like no other!
@@MarkJThrelfallyeah I agree, not that it would do any good, I mean he must’ve had an obd scanner with him & cleared the codes just before pulling into Berrow or drove very light footed.
At least you are honest, I would buy a car from you!
It's S.E. specification going by the seats and chrome roof trims.
cheer up big fella!! Good days bad days but I think youre doing better than you think you are!!!
@@ShiftingMetal Excellent - when you run youre own firm it can get a bit lonely!! KBO fella.
The complexity of modern cars frightens me.
Evening Fella, is this not a case of people buying devices to clear codes etc before they turn up at yours then doing the same when they come to collect what they bought?
You surely have another diesel BMW in so just swap out the injectors and you can test them your self ⚠️
It ain't an M Sport - it is an SE - you can tell by the seats and the front grill.
Ideal… ditch finders on the rear wheels of a BMW 🤦🏼♂️
Great vid as usual Joe & Toby
If it smells damp in the boot I would remove the trim where the battery is and check if there is any water in there. Can cause lots of issues
Iv had that on my e90 corroded some the connections. Caused me drama for time
100% there is water under those trims panels. People like to wash cars to often 😅
Id be looking at a dodgy map causing the fuel pressure issue. Maybe its demanding too much fuel that it can't supply.
I don't think you have been ripped off, in this market a prestige convertible for less than £3K? You know it is going to have issues...big hairy expensive issues.
I'm not the punter btw, or his dad!😁
A/C working is usually a hint the owner hasn't run it on a shoestring. Might have been worth saving.
Say hello and wave goodbye...😮😅
E93
That BMW isn't an MSport! Its got SE seats. And its an E93, not an E90!
Joe any 120000 mile BMW is a pretty scary purchase but with it being a dirty diesel best get rid 😉.
Your mechanic should have checked the fuel rail pressure in the live data on a test drive, It could have been a simple fuel rail pressure sensor. OBD11 don't do Mercedes, disappointing.
@@ShiftingMetal I'm here in Ireland shouting at the tv, it's bad for the blood pressure. All the Best.
Not that anyone here is interested but we have the same car, same interior, same white colour but fitted with the 3ltr 6 cylinder petrol engine. It's been with us for 7 years and it's never put a foot wrong. It's a car which is aging very gracefully and somehow still looks the part. Shifting Metal is like a meat grinder for this sort of car but to us private people we see them as a whole lot more. It's such a pity to see these cars slip down the order and become just things to trade on... but I suppose there's no avoiding it.
I don't know how people have the brass neck to part ex a motor with known faults. I couldn't do it as I have morals and a conscience
should of tried put some fuel injector cleaner additive like stp but never mind
Sellers are getting wise Joe be on guard everyone is an enemy, no nice guys anymore
Maybe u should of asked if anyone of ur followers woukd of wanted to buy it as trade Joe ? I would of been interested as of many others I think would of . Anyway another great video mate .
Sorry, time is money and this was weeks ago. Plus getting someone who's reliable and actually turns up is tricky!
@@ShiftingMetal Joe how much did it sell for at auction and what did you receive back ... regards in advance
Unless I am doing something wrong the discount code is not valid.
Is it worth have a cheap ultrasonic bath for £70 just to throw 4 injectors in for 15mins for any cars where it's a suspect issue?
Use hot water with a squeeze of fairy liquid for a cheap fluid.
its SE model not a m sport wheels a replicas and dont slam a boot lid it has sowft closing system mate
A car with the factory wheels painted black is a huge red flag. 🚩 wouldn’t touch one at any price.
Am not on Insta. You can’t leave us hanging, needs a part 2 or a TH-cam shorts update when sold 🫡
Some unscrupulous dealer will just clear the engine management light and sell it as a good car, hoping that customers do not do a full and proper test drive. So easily to be caught out if you are buying cars like this
what a great car that m3 trust me my son has just bought one and he is a bmw tech in sytner the e92 will go up.
Rubbish tyres on a car like that are a sign of running an expensive car on a shoestring.
Trying to look like a Premier League footballer on a
benefits budget.
"Sometimes the best deals you make are the ones you don't."
I got old bmw 2006 plate for scrap money but im happy to enter bmw market cheap with 520d m47 good old school motoring
When they never turned up with the car at the beginning to do the part exchange it should have been a big red flag.
Only the seller knows what he really intended, but it could be that he knew how to play you, which is a disadvantage of being online.
Those seats look like SE seats not m sport
it's an SE isn't it not an msport
Yeahhh, there's one little thing I forgot to mention... I hit a dear, mangling the bonnet and grill😮, oh and it doesn't like you putting your foot down 😮
I’m amazed that you assume everyone trading in a car, especially an old shitter like that, is getting rid of it because they just fancy a change, most people don’t change cars until the old one starts costing them big money, or they get a warning that big expenditure is coming. Unless you’re putting trade-ins straight to auction, where cosmetic condition/appearance is the most important factor, you need to assume anything you get offered is going to have issues and price accordingly…
Btw it’s not OBD eleven it’s (ii Roman numerals) = OBD2. There has never been OBD 3-10. 😅
There is OBDeleven the brand though, which is what I'm referring to 😅
Not easy and limited time to check car over, ok a mistake, but lesson learnt.
Joe, love you to bits and love your channel but your sales manager is pants! Arthur Daley in jeans is not a good impression.
Customer did a runner after they see the engine light come on 🏃🏽♀️😂
Flappy paddles on a 180bhp😂
Don’t think its an M Sport..
👌👌
When looking at motors to buy, if its got budget tyres on or mismatched tyres on an axle, I pay it a lot more attention as it generally means its not been maintained properly and dodgy.
You do sound a little bitter on the BM
I'll take it I'll swap you a pug 107 MD63OYG 49k miles
It’s an SE not an M-Sport, the wheels have been swapped.
It’s not a hard fix , just a fuel pressure valve ,the guy who part ex it is the mug ,if actually took the time to work it out he would have spent less ,now he has spent more buying another car which would have had a good mark up .lol
Can I have your number so you can diagnose all our other cars via your crystal ball?! 🔮😂
Jason loves a Lemon 🍋
Obdeleven doesn’t seem to cover Range Rover sport ???
Your totally right about checking p exs out more, I'm reluctant to take any, as you end up with all your profit in basically something that's scrap, customers coming to small pitches will have swoppers full of issues, unfortunately for you it's your money and not your salesmans, I'd only give scrap for a swopper without fully checking it out, giving 2 to 2.5k is a lot for something full of faults and damage.
Take it slow on p exs, long test drive, scan, mechanic checking it out, you might be a pinta to customers, but better to be safe.
BMW JUNKS 😂😂😂😂😂
Wasn’t an M-sport was it? more like SE
White body with black wheels, classy. lol.
Your asking for trouble with some of these car choices.
My e91 was the biggest pile of steaming ****. Any BMW over 100K should be avoided like the plague.
Some you win some you lose as the saying goes Joe on to the next one and make some dollar

I tried to buy one but they don't do Mercedes for the device
Does this device only cover VAG or all brands? Struggling to find anything for Peugeot & don't want to waste my hard earned
