I honestly think I m going to watch the last 4 minutes of the video everyday, until i get into medical school. So inspirational, so beautiful. Thank you so much! And Congrats! 💕
That "things I dont know" list is a great idea for focused studying! Also, it's great seeing you so positive about med school. Congrats on being a 3rd year! Our school doesn't finish for another ~2 months.
One thing I love about following your journey is that it was so realistic! You didn’t come on here and pretend you were this perfect student. You showed us your struggles and how you persevered through them. Thank you for allowing us to come on this journey America! You don’t know how many people’s lives you’ve already changed! Keep going!
America, I've never commented on a video before, but I just have to say: thank you, thank you, thank you for making these videos. You've shown me that being a doctor is possible, and given me the faith I needed to give it a go. I've been watching since your first day of med school, and your resilience and honesty are so inspiring to me. I can't wait to see all the great things you'll accomplish in the next few years! Never stop making these videos!
I'm 26 and finishing the first two years of med school soon-- age is just a number! Our best years are still ahead of us! Don't be worried about coming back to school- you'll appreciate it a lot more than the younger kids
America, 10:48 hit the nail on the head of what I am going through currently. I teared a little bit, because it is nice to see that i’m not the only one who had to overcome this challenge. I coasted through 2 years of college not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew it was something between engineering and healthcare. I aimed for engineering, but I took the basic gen ed requirements, and I took the pre-med health requirements, because they went towards the engineering major as well, instead of easier classes such as Geology. I hit two birds with one stone in a sense. After the first 2 years, I ended up taking an unexpected 3 semester gap, because it was time for me to transfer to University. I was unable to attend University and I became depressed (at least I think I am?), demotivated, and generally down, because I didn’t make any academic progress within those 3 semesters. I started telling myself exactly what you said at 10:48... it will take too many years even if I chose that route, and i’m currently battling a bunch of demons to get this bachelor’s degree in the first place. I’m fueled with self-doubt that i’d be able to handle the workload if I get in, or even get in due to my multiple class drops in topics I did not find interesting / or classes I did bad in, so I decided to take the W, so it didn’t hurt my Gpa. It seems like a criminal record, because they will automatically point that out or the few mediocre grades. I was hoping a final push academically in the last 2 years would show i’m capable of a lot more vs the first two years, due to uncertainty and indecision. As I return to college, I still feel lost as to what I want to do. I’m leaning towards a bachelors in an engineering field, but there is this constant thought in the back of my head to do medicine / something in healthcare (Am I convincing myself?), and I feel it is something i’ll regret if I don’t, but there is also this voice saying... I won’t get in because of my first 2 years of college, and how they went. Also, the fact that I got average grades A’s and B’s a C here or there, which gave me an average Gpa of 3.4 with room still for improvement. At my community college, if you get an 89% it is considered a 3.0 and if you get a 90% it is a 4.0. They didn’t have gpa fully adjusted according to grade percentages. I had a few borderline classes, and they caused my gpa to drop, due to the rule above. Do you have any words of wisdom to share, due to my dilemma? I love your vlogs by the way and we’re all privileged to see your adventure through out the first 2 years of Medical School. I can tell from the video it was a very emotional transition :). Tears of happiness of course. PS: Your TH-cam family is rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see you become a smart and successful Doctor as you go through rotations, Obliterate all the Step Exams, and see you cross the finish line.
I’m so proud of you America, you give me hope and assurance.I’ve been watching you since you were a 1st year and just seeing how far you’ve done is so refreshing and I’m just so so so very proud
I always worried about pursuing medical school because I thought I wouldn't have the chance to date, get married, have kids, etc...And someone replied "But consider if you don't go to medical school, and those things don't work out by the time you're 30 anyways? Then you'll really feel like you have nothing." This helped me a lot.
Also thanks for sharing the last bit about med school and how it's worth it. Im struggling to stay motivated in med school and always questioning my decision because I feel like I'm wasting my years away (esp bc im in my early 20s). Happy to have heard your perspective
I'm sure by this point you've already taken Calyx to the vet, but the moment you showed him sitting over his water bowl excessively drinking water I figured there was a problem (Im probably one of your few subscribers on the veterinary side of medicine lol). Usually when our feline patients lay over their water bowls and constantly beg for water they end up being diabetic or have some kind of renal disease. I hope Calyx is OK because I know how much he means to you! I hope you give an update on him in your next video. As always, we are proud of you America! ❤
Same, my cat did the same thing when she had kidney failure and diabetes so I was going to comment about the water drinking as well. Hope Calix is okay!
Wow that monologue at the end really did it for me. I am also pursuing a career that has a bad reputation in terms of getting there but this reminded me to take things one day at a time.
this came at the most perfect time. thank you for being an inspiration. i'll continue to work harder towards my goal of becoming a doctor. im not going to let failure dictate my future anymore.
Thank you for putting a realistic and positive message out about med school. There are so many youtube videos about not choosing medical school with the most stupid reasons like too long, too hard, can't have a family. The only reason to decide against it is if it isn't what you want to do with your life. If it is, go for it. No one is born a doctor. You train to become one.
I am about to start med school in less than 2 months and I have been worrying about a lot of things but after hearing that speech, you made sunshine for me and a lot of people here. You are an amazing person, America. Keep on smiling! ♥ and thank you for motivating me.
I just started watching your videos and I swear I have never felt more motivated to get my life together. I want to go to pharmacy school and lately I've been doubting myself and getting discouraged and feeling unmotivated to study for my PCAT. Your videos remind me of why I want to do this in the first place and why I want to keep pushing. Thank you for inspiring me!
I just started watching your videos, and I’m enjoying the honesty and “rawness” of your content. I’m not a med student, but I am in a major where it’s as intense (aerospace engineering) so I’m learning a lot from you. It’s also very inspirational for my own TH-cam channel 😊 Blonde looks really good on you btw! Makes you look much more mature
This is so inspiring!! I’ll be entering med school this fall and am nervous and excited at the same time. Needless to say, you go girl!! Super proud of you 😁
Thank you for being so REAL! So refreshing to see a fellow med student who is honest about their study habits while in med school and like you said isn't just a "study robot." I'm finishing up my 3rd year and I feeeeeel everything you said about exams. There have been so many times where I've walked out thinking wtf just happened? haha but in the end it's always ok. I've also had those same questions about the 4th years when I first started...and now that I'm about to be a 4th year I look back and see how far I've come and how much I've learned. It's insane. Medical school is such a privilege and an honor. Congrats on finishing your 2nd year! BTW - you're beautiful. You and your boyfriend are adorable. Love your channel.💕
What Americai is saying at the end of this video is so wonderful and wise. It applies to absolutely any discipline in life one has passion for. America is giving us the key to success in life not only in medicine but in everything. She practices what she preaches and is developing and utilizing her talent to become a wonderful Doctor. Bravo to you!!! You're family should be so very proud!!!
Gosh!! I needed this vlog sooo much! I’m currently studying for the MCAT and it’s the last “obstacle” I have left from applying to med school and I’ve been so overwhelmed/discouraged lately. However, your ending comments really “revamped” the meaning behind why I started this path. I’m just joining your journey, but I’m so thankful that I found someone like you to kind of be another mentor for me! 😁
I'm not a med student, but I am a nursing student. I love watching to see what future doctors and surgeons go through to get to where they are. From what it seems like, any major related to the health care field has its challenges but all of them are so incredibly rewarding because we get to help people and make them feel better! Congrats on making it to your third year!
your little speech made me CRY girl I am SO PROUD OF YOU! you are such an inspiration to everyone in this community you’ve created 💛 I’m so excited to see all you continue to accomplish in this life 💖
I’m a current nursing student and while our schooling is different I also find myself stressed out and studying at 4 AM. Its hard work but it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! I love your positivity and am addicted to your videos! Keep it up girl!
Thank you so much for making your videos. I have gained more confidence just by watching you. I was doing nursing at first, but ever since I was a little girl, Ive always wanted to become a neonatologist. I want to save these babies lives because they deserve to live. After all the stressing and crying I finally changed my major and I am no longer doing nursing. I watch your videos to motivate myself even more. I am doing this for myself, but also my family. Thank you for everything.
I really needed this omg. I’m currently graduating nursing school and I said I wouldn’t go back to get my higher degree because it would “take to long” but this speech has opened my mind. Thanks !!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart..because I’ve been having cold feet about studying medicine ever since I graduated my senior year And what you said made me fall in love!! There are only few people (like you) who would find joy in a life dedicated to knowledge.. And what you said made me eager to learn even more..so thank you, your timing was perfect Love from Syria💙
Did'nt want to study tonight and came here for inspiration. Her speech at the end reminded me why I started this in the first place. Thank you America..
I've just taken a break from studying pharmacology and I was super tired and ready to complain about how damn hard it is. And then I watch this! Ready for a couple more hours of grinding
Sitting here trying not to cry because that was such an amazing message you gave at the end. As a sophomore pre-med, medical school just seems like a dream that I will never ever reach. It’s hard to believe I’m even good enough to get there sometimes. It’s so awesome to see your journey. Thank you for sharing it with us!
You have no idea how much this video has touched me and meant to me. I sometimes feel discouraged, but I can see from your experiences that all the studying and years of school pay off. Thank you for reminding me of how rewarding it is and how it's such a privilege to pursue this career. God bless you girl 😘
I just discovered you an hour ago and you have inspired me so freaking much omg, if you want it you'll have it. Thank you for doing that little inspiring talk at the end because i relate myself with you, all the doubts you had are mine right now, im still figuring what im i going to study in university, but you have encourage me in like, 10 minutes or less, thank you for your positivity and your funny personality, keep it like that! and thank you again. Dont stop doing vids hehe.
I’m so proud of you. You’re a great person and you really do inspire me. I WILL become a physician one day. I have you to thank. Thank you America. Keep your head up! Much love to you girl!
I've always been interested in the medical field (I work at an animal hospital and I am looking into all the different types of medicine) but I never actually considered doing medical school until I found this channel. I'm doing as much research as possible and comparing nursing (nurse practitioner) or medical school. I really love these videos and everything you post because it's so REAL and really helps me stay inspired and excited about school and learning. :)
Watching your vlogs gives me motivation to study hard and succeed in school. I always complain about work but I have nowhere near as much as you do and am so motivated by how motivated you are! Cannot wait to see you succeed! Subscribed :)
I saw the title and couldn't believe you're already ending your 2nd year!!! Time is going by so fast. Thanks for the amazing speech, America! You are truly an inspiration to me.
Im in first year of Medical School and I have my antomy exam in a month, seeing your videos calms my anxiety and litteraly makes me happy to go and study. Thank you 💕
This is the first youtube video I’ve ever commmented on but i just have to say thank you for your words! I am currently waiting for my MCAT scores and every day I have extreme anxiety and question my career choice. But I wont give up! Thank you!
I'm a 2nd year medical student and your videos have literally gotten me through so many hectic times when I needed motivation and inspiration to study and keep going, so thank you so much for that America
I just followed you and I’m so happy I did. That conversation you had with us in your car at the end of the video felt so intimate, and it was much needed for me. I’ve been doubting my decision to pursue medicine a lot lately, and watching your videos have served to re-inspire me to work toward my goal. Thank you so much for taking time out of your already incredibly busy schedule to show others that a life in medicine is hard, but worth it. All the best to you, America.
The "things I don't know" list is a really great idea, just don't forget to at some point extensively still go over the easy stuff. I used to make lists of things I don't know or don't feel confident in and I end up studying so much of that, that by the exam rolled around, the things I'm struggling to recall are actually the easy stuff I tossed aside in the beginning which is the most obnoxious feeling lmao
You inspire to work hard every day and strive for medical school America! Because of you I could never be so sure that saving lives is what I want out of my duty to society ❤️💙💛
I am a medical student from India. You have no idea how much motivation you give me.I watch your videos whenever I feel low and you just lift my mood. lots of love from India...
I got my new motivation from you. I always wanted to be a doctor, but when I study after midnight and I am tired and exhausted and feel lonely with these things.. It's hard. But you, with your final speech, you got me the motivation to keep going. You are amaizing America! Thank you! ❤ and Congratulation for your new journey! 💕
I almost cried hearing you say all of that. It was truly inspiring and heart touching. Thank you bunches and Congratulations on your Third Year of Medical School!
Congrats on being a 3rd year! I have been watching you since the beginning and you literally have been my motivation to continue with my education. Im a high school senior and im graduating in 2 months! I've had the opportunity to make so many accomplishments in my high school career because of your videos! I'm going to be the first in my family to graduate with my Associate of Science degree at the age of 18! It's absolutely insane to think that I survived so many stressful days of juggling high school and college. And I would have never thought that I would get my first ever acceptance letter to a 4 year university, time goes by so fast when you're focused on your future. I just want to thank you for vlogging and showing the youtube world what a med students life is like! I really want to become a Physician one day, its my goal in life and i cant wait to start a new journey at a university! So thanks again!
Much like everyone else, I loved your speech at the end. For me, it hit in an entirely different way -- I went into nursing but my fiance is pursuing his MD. In some respects, I feel like I'm able to understand this life change. I mean, I'm in the medical field too. BUT, I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared shitless for him to start med school. Your videos (and especially your speech at the end) prove to me it's possible to live life and become a doctor. Shoot, this might be a beautiful, wonderful thing for our relationship. One day at a time :)
Im so glad you posted this, specially today that I’ve been having a horrible day. I was scare of going to med school, specially for what people have to say, but today you have encourage me and I’m so thankful. Wish you the best today and always girl!!!!
I just started watching your videos and I may not know you but you go girl! you are so hard working! keep up the great work and relax because you deserve it
I have just started watching your video and I can relate to you so much! I have an image of the life of a med student being rigid and almost too glamorous. But you girl are a hot and fierce mess. You portray the unpredictability in the life of a med school student and you sincerely OWN the fact that you don't necessarily have it ALL figured out. Thanks for keeping it real! You are helping me break the through the self critical thoughts of " I am not good enough". Lots of love!
I always make a “things I don’t know” document as well! Repetition is key to learning something by heart. I feel like in Italy (where I live) most of us are taught by our parents to always repeat concepts out loud to memorize them and everyone does it by the time they’re in university.
I just found your channel and i already adore you! You are brilliant! I'm pursuing nursing and have been discouraged about the content and you literally made me feel like an idiot (in a good way!!!) watching you balance everything with such a positive attitude makes me feel like I can actually accomplish everything I put my whole heart into. Thank you!
America, you are such an inspiration. I am starting medical school this summer and your positivity is so needed. Even though I’m in I still have doubts about my path. Thank you for sharing your experiences and your positivity
Girl you have inspired me so much.I will be going into medical school next year and I honestly can't wait because of you .You proved that it is all worth it in the end. :)
your speech made me cry. im not joking. at the exact time i finish my second year of med school, you will be a surgeon, and i plan to come back here and watch this video and think wow yay i did it and also wow time went really fast.
So I just found out that you're going to my dream school. And it's good to know what I'm going to put myself into. Thank you so much for this beautiful insight into what medical school will be like.
Thank You! ❤ For those amazing words at the end of the video. I'm barely starting with my college years, and hopefully one day becoming a Doctor. I know it's a long road ahead of me, but it's these videos that makes me keep on pushing into my career.
I have been following your channel for several months now but I just want to say you are one of my biggest inspirations and this video is probably my favorite! Im on the pre-med route. Currently studying for my MCAT and i was thinking the same thing .. "do medical students know everything thats on this mcat" "how will i ever learn all of this" but youre right just on step at a time, one practice question at a time and one day I will also be wearing a white coat like you. The ending of your video really motivated me! Thank you for your posts! And congratulations on making it to the half way point!!
The end made me tear up a little bit😭😍thank you for being such a constant inspiration to me! You’re already someone that people like myself look up to!
America, oh my goodness. I am so so so so proud of you and of all you have accomplished. You're speech really touched me and warmed my heart. I wish you all the best in your journey, never stop being you! Seriously you are freaking amazing! :)
Thank you so much for this, America! I really needed to hear this today. Thank you for being so honest with us and for showing us that medical school IS do-able, and is worth all the years!
Jeeeeees I found you yesterday and really got into your vlogs. Today I started with your first one and now I´ve landed at your last vlog again. Love them! You are so real on your vlogs. Makes them really special :)
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS OMG. I've been here since your first year and I feel like we're friends although we've never spoken!. Thank you very much for your positivity, it's helped it in many ways. Thank you for being an inspiration!!
i was pretty confused when you said you were 23 and you're going into your third year already when i realized that in america you have college lol i found out about your channel yesterday and have been binge watching your videos! you're so funny and inspiring! i'm going into my second year of medicine school and watching yours inspires me lmao.. congrats!!!
first of all congrats to you America for making it this far. your videos are always very inspiring to all of us viewers. thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I am sure you have already inspired and changed someones life. God bles you love from Canada
When it's 2am and your anxiety is through the roof and Americas speech at the end cures you.

I swear when I graduate from med school, I will credit America to being the one that basically saved me from letting go of my dreams.😭😌
I honestly think I m going to watch the last 4 minutes of the video everyday, until i get into medical school. So inspirational, so beautiful. Thank you so much! And Congrats! 💕
10:09 you gave me goosebumps with that beautiful speech. I was feeling discouraged but now I think becoming a doctor is worth everything ❤
Oh my goodness. i needed her speech!!
Yeah, same.
So true! Nursing school has me discouraged at times but she motivated me so much❤️

Samee. I could never be a doctor, but I am looking at being a respiratory therapist. I do have a deep respect for them
You were the motivation I needed. I’m struggling with school and life at this moment so ready to give up on School, bug I will keep going

Believe it or not, YOU HAVE INSPIRED SO MANY PEOPLE KEEP IT GOING 😭♥️🙌🏼♥️
Thanks !!
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart..because I’ve been having cold feet about studying medicine ever since I graduated my senior year
And what you said made me fall in love!! There are only few people (like you) who would find joy in a life dedicated to knowledge..
And what you said made me eager to learn even more..so thank you, your timing was perfect
Love from Syria💙
You're literally so amazing. Thank you for that great speech
You’re such an inspirational person America!! Good luck in the rest of med school you’ll be great!!
You did it America!! You're amazing! Thank you for being so inspirational! You make us other med students feel not so alone ❤
I'm in my 2nd year of medical school. I study abroad so its 6 years here. I feel so motivated by your closing speech.
I just started watching your videos and I may not know you but you go girl! you are so hard working! keep up the great work and relax because you deserve it
Thank you for always motivating us, America! We love you!!
So proud of how far you've gone! You go gurl!
Girl you have inspired me so much.I will be going into medical school next year and I honestly can't wait because of you .You proved that it is all worth it in the end. :)
Congragations on passing your CBSE!! You are a constant inspiration in my life America, thank you so much for sharing your life with us! :)
your speech made me cry. im not joking. at the exact time i finish my second year of med school, you will be a surgeon, and i plan to come back here and watch this video and think wow yay i did it and also wow time went really fast.
So I just found out that you're going to my dream school. And it's good to know what I'm going to put myself into. Thank you so much for this beautiful insight into what medical school will be like.
im sooooo proud of you America, i honestly admire you a lot
Thank You! ❤
For those amazing words at the end of the video. I'm barely starting with my college years, and hopefully one day becoming a Doctor. I know it's a long road ahead of me, but it's these videos that makes me keep on pushing into my career.
I really appreciate the message at the end of the video. Thanks!
Hey America I'm an engineering student but I can totally relate to your videos. Thanks so much for your words.
You're Amazing America!!! Very relatable and pragmatic! Proud of you! Keep on making us PROUD!!
The end rlly put me at ease bc medicine is my dream but everybody tries to deter me from it so thank you sm I needed that!
You are my role model, thank you for your videos. I CANNOT wait to see the great doctor you’ll become.
Thank you so much for this, America! I really needed to hear this today. Thank you for being so honest with us and for showing us that medical school IS do-able, and is worth all the years!
America, thank you so much for the words of wisdom at the at the end. I’m so glad you’re happy and you’re an inspiration so to many.
