I can not believe it. I have been watching your videos for many years, most of them several times, and now you come to my house, to Asturias, to take photographs of the same places that I have been photographing for a long time. You don't know how excited I am to see your video from my region. I would have liked to find you there, in fact I was recently at Buelna beach. You are a great photographer and communicator. Don't ever leave it
The best place in the word to take good pictures. I travel once a month to Asturias, and probably I have a million photos😂 My wife still ask me the same after 40 years married, When do Spanish sleep....we are lake that. Nice video, nice images.
I can understand that very much. In 2021 I did a tour from Bilbao to Galicia. I love the variety, the freshness, the people with their many festivals in the towns and... the good food. Anyone who has been there once wish to come back.
You say you lke a grumble... well, i would say you are the happiest cheeriest grumbler I have ever seen! You may have a grumble, but you smile whilst doing it and come across as still being in a good mood. You are the perfect person to have on a trip like this, how could anyone be in a bad mood with Thomas Heaton around 😀
I can never understand why things like "harsh light" makes photography harder. I challenge you to take a picture every hour for 24 hours and compile them for us to see 😀
Fantastic video as always. Spain has so many different faces from North to South that is definitely something special. I am from Malaga and Asturias is on my list of places to go. Food, beaches, clouds and good people there. Saludos .
Incredible. If you ask many people without telling them where those photos were shot most answers probably will be Iceland 🇮🇸, Faroe Icelands 🇫🇴 etc. Spain is not that popular amongst landscape photographers but you showed the hidden gems of Spain 🇪🇸. Thanks.
Looks like a great trip albeit exhausting. Now I know why Spain is such a desired travel spot. Your comment about shooting away from the sun on a blue sky morning was a perfect explanation that made so much sense. Thanks!
It's incredible to see you making photos in the place where I started landscape photography 17 years ago: Arnia beach. When I started photography, a few people knew this place, even the people from Santander...
Dinner at that late hour, I would have opted out and just gone to bed. Picnic baskets on location would have been a good option. The location looks fantastic. I'll never get there, so it's really nice to see from your eyes. Thank you for another great video, tutoring experience.
Wow what a workshop you managed to cram in a week. You must have been knackered when you got home. I think that you did an amazing job putting it all together. The waves were insane and what a place to photograph. All the places you went were incredible. You captured some amazing image's as usual Thomas. Look forward to the next one.
I don't know how you keep up the pace, Thomas. Youth and physical conditioning along with enthusiasm, I suppose. Anyway, I'm happy that you do and I'm alway happy that you gave me the opportunity to come along
I just returned home from a photo workshop with a similar schedule. Sleep cycles will revert to normal, but the experience is indelible. I couldn't recommend it more!
Thank you for bringing the stunning photos! I was on a road trip in Asturias last week, definitely my favourite place for landscape photography in Spain and I was very lucky to capture the sunrise above Naranjo de Bulnes with fog at foreground after several days of raining! Your B&W of the peak has stolen my heart. Great video!
The layered B&W shots are sublime - chapeau to you for realising these magnificent images. So despite your occasional pessimistic overtures, you evidently have considerable talent. This combined with an easy to reach location should enable you to push the bar even higher. Gijon, Oviedo and environs are magnificent and deserve careful and patient observation culminating in photographic studies over a number of visits and without the pleasant distractions that were imposed during this trip. Go for it and chapeau again!
Hello my friend I'm watching your amazing video, Such an amazing scenery in Northen Spain. I feel so happy watching your footage! I look forward to your beautiful next work 👍👍
Excellent scenery and landscape shooting opportunities! Not sure about the late eating and very early starts! Shooting detail at your feet is a great tip. Thanks for the video.
Great to see your video this week Thomas, dont have miss them when you're not about. Great clutch of images this week and particularly loved the sea stack and the long exposure mono.
Thomas, I consider you a positive pessimist - you may grumble, but you always share something useful or fun! Lovely photos, and thanks for exposures and filters used. I find it helpful. Love your minimally processed style. Cheers from the USA!
Looks like a fantastic trip with amazing landscape locations! It sure is tiring but the rewards are undesirable imo. That’s the fun part about nature and landscape photography!!! Great job Thomas!
Interesting timing. I'm 2 weeks back after 8 days shooting along the fabulous coastline of Nothern Spain. And like you, the Europa peak proved a nice added surprise. Apart from the other photographer with me I didn't see another photographer for the entire trip, which is becoming more and more unusual. But man, it was looong days. We covered 3,000km in the week, and like you were operating on 5 to 6 hours sleep a day. Aaaand the weather also proved challenging. Buuuut I am definitely going back :)
I was born and bred in Australia but my heritage is Spanish from Cantabria, we still have a house in the village there. I love the whole north of Spain, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia and the Basque region but then I'm very biased haha. Anyway, if you ever go back there you're more than welcomed to stay in our house in the village, it's near Cabezon de la Sal
Oh man, such a joy to watch this - I've been running workshops on that coast for a decade and to see it through your eyes has been so cool. What a coast - let's collaborate ;-)
Nice work Tom! I spent a lot of time in Spain in the 70's but almost all of it in southern Spain. The landscape I'm seeing in this video is SOOO impressive I wish I'd made a few trips north. You would have to work REALLY hard to take a bad picture.
Great images and great video, as always. If you ever come to the most western part of northern Spain (the autonomous country of Galicia, western neighbour to the Principality of Asturias) I'm sure that you will also find quite interesting landscapes. Oh, and sunsets in Cape Finisterre and Costa da Morte (Coast of Death) are really superb 🙂
1:18, this would have to be a record for how early the first image is placed in the video, nice mix of movement and still! 2:02 challenging conditions lifted by the bright sea tones 5:59 I love the lighting, the reflected light off the sea lifts the sea stack!! 6:56 back light adds drama and depth, magic! 9:20 Dramatic and clean, almost looks like snow!!! 10:42, misty and mistic, love it 10:50 stunning light and contrast 12:18 wow what depth and light, thank you! 12:20 stunning texture and light 12:23 another misty image fantastic! 12:27 great abstract!! 13:55 subtle light strong composition! 16:38 a beautiful texture shot! Thomas have you ever put 13 images in a video before, the Video reflects the frenetic pace of your trip! thank you
When my daughter studied in Spain she was shocked by the restaurants opening at 10pm then everyone caught the train into Madrid to go clubbing, then home 5am and off to work at 8:30am. But they slept 1pm-4pm!
Still one of my favorite channels on TH-cam! Quality content and tips I can actually use. You make it look easy. But I know it most definitely is not... LOL
Hi Heaton. Thanks for the mention. I'm glad you liked this coast. It's good to see what different eyes do. The dinner time thing is a bit hard, although here we are used to having late dinners. 😅
Wonderful and inspiring video! The rocky shore shots with the waves blew my mind. Before watching your channel I never imagined the power of how you use shutter speed to create those shots. I'm so excited to get out on the beaches of Oregon and Washington states and try my hand at it too. Soon 🤞. Thank you for always entertaining and inspiring us. Cheers!
That was a fast pace video ! I am as exhausted as you probably were at the end of that trip, after watching it !! 😂 The images were amazing ! When you said one week I was almost hoping for a vlog for each day 😅
Some superb locations and images here Thomas. Those waves though. Brilliant, my favourite kind of beach. Keep shooting those and you'll be featured in Chasing Awe by Gavin Hardcastle. 🤣
You ended up with some really nice shots. For some reason Spain always feels like Italy for some reason ... in my mind. Never been to Spain and now I see that I have the wrong image in my head 🤣. Nice video... as always. Cheers.
Cracking set of images from the trip Thomas, and wow, what a location Asturia is. Definitely worth an explore at a slower pace. Do I foresee you doing a week long Delica trip in the future?
Funny enough, I'm on a 3 weeks photo trip on my own in the same region of Spain. I need to go back to France in 2 days. I'm happy to go home but at the same time sad to leave, for this place is simply a playground for photographers. Tonight or I should tomorrow morning, I'll have a last attempt at photographing the milky way with one of the peak in Los Picos de Europa National Park. Great region with great people! Can't wait to get back here for another photo trip. Sorry, it is quite a long comment 😅 Now, time to go to bed because I need to be up at 2am for one of my last Shot of this trip. Your video is, as always, of high standards and I love your enthousiasm even though you said you're a pessimitic person. If you pessimitic then you are an enthusastic pessimist 😄
Thomas, your posts are always worthwhile. Watching you react to surroundings when photographing is by itself a most interesting learning experience. My epiphany of the moment is, why not do an entire post without talking? I enjoy your talking, but the photography is so good that without your voiceover, one can think more about what you are doing than what you are saying! You might have to do some things a bit different to let us know certain things, like which filter you are using, or the length of the exposure, but I'm sure you can solve that. And you do show the technical information when displaying the final photograph. And I am still ready for Volume Three!
To start with the cliffs of Hell, is to start strong. For motivation, nothing that cannot be solved by enjoying the traditional cuisine of the area. A fabada for example or pixin with cider or many other succulences.
He's done the same in my hometown Madeira Island 😂.
The best place in the word to take good pictures. I travel once a month to Asturias, and probably I have a million photos😂 My wife still ask me the same after 40 years married, When do Spanish sleep....we are lake that. Nice video, nice images.
I have been there 2021. I love your culture, landscape and friendly people.
Haha, what a small world. You're lucky to live in such a beautiful area.
@edalonvarez73 Hoping to visit that area in September. Would the weather be an issue at that time of the year?
I can understand that very much. In 2021 I did a tour from Bilbao to Galicia. I love the variety, the freshness, the people with their many festivals in the towns and... the good food. Anyone who has been there once wish to come back.

I like the title of Happiest Grumbler. One for my head stone 😂
Saludos .
The B&W Shot in the Mountains made me say WOW out loud. Great Shot!

ufff, the B&W rocky peaks are just stunning. Amazing photo.
Thanks a lot.
Fine example of why I gave up photography and now just watch people who actually have talent.
It's incredible to see you making photos in the place where I started landscape photography 17 years ago: Arnia beach.
When I started photography, a few people knew this place, even the people from Santander...
Always awesome to hear about your travels. You communicate in such an entertaining way!
Dinner at that late hour, I would have opted out and just gone to bed. Picnic baskets on location would have been a good option. The location looks fantastic. I'll never get there, so it's really nice to see from your eyes. Thank you for another great video, tutoring experience.
Awesome photography, awesome location. Really appreciate your insights and thinking when you're composing a shot. Learning so much. Thank you!
Wow what a workshop you managed to cram in a week.
You must have been knackered when you got home.
I think that you did an amazing job putting it all together.

That's so neat. What a wonderful place. Great video Tom.
The art of the siesta!
Patterns in the sand always excite me. Great images you captured and looked like a very big week.
really nailed the shutter speed on the seastack at 6:00. Much better than just completely washed out water
The layered B&W shots are sublime - chapeau to you for realising these magnificent images. So despite your occasional pessimistic overtures, you evidently have considerable talent. Thanks for taking us along on your tour. Awesome shots, and it looks exhausting, i.e. a lot packed into a week!
Another excellent video Thomas! Your images and attitude are inspiring! Thanks for sharing!!
Lovely 😍 ❤
Hello my friend I'm watching your amazing video, Such an amazing scenery in Northen Spain. I feel so happy watching your footage! I look forward to your beautiful next work 👍👍
Excellent scenery and landscape shooting opportunities! Not sure about the late eating and very early starts! Shooting detail at your feet is a great tip. Thanks for the video.
16:12 actually looks like a drone shot of a coast line...northern Spain looks amazing.
Loads of great images in this video! Killing it!
Tough schedule, Thomas...I bet those attendees were tired but happy at the end. I never knew that northern Spain was so beautiful.
Amazing location, love each of your episodes…I want to go to Northern Spain now 🥰
Thank you for this Amazing trip.
I enjoyed very Much the photos
Great to see your video this week Thomas, dont have miss them when you're not about. Great clutch of images this week and particularly loved the sea stack and the long exposure mono.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Absolutely Beautiful!
That looks like it was all types of epic Tom the shots you got were stunning bravo
Thomas, I consider you a positive pessimist - you may grumble, but you always share something useful or fun! Lovely photos, and thanks for exposures and filters used. I find it helpful. Love your minimally processed style. Cheers from the USA!
I learn every video. I love your stuff. I never had any use for 1:1 before but I'm trying that now. I also love Delica's
We are brothers united.
Stunning photo of the pica d’Europa!! Brilliant video. Thanks for sharing this engaging piece of art with us!
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Those first cliffs and paths reminded me of Land’s End. Great video.
Looks like a fantastic trip with amazing landscape locations! It sure is tiring but the rewards are undesirable imo. That’s the fun part about nature and landscape photography!!! Great job Thomas!
Stop it... that 16:9 of the peaks is just ridiculous!!! Love it.
Haha.
A week in the life of TH on a workshop.... FUN!! & Exhausting... Love the images 😀
PIKOS DE EURROPPPAAAAAA ❤❤
Beautiful photos. You sold me on somehow arranging a visit there in two years.
11:17 He paws at the filter with his fingers - cool!
Yeah, sticky fingers as well. It's not good 😣
And yet he still produced great photos. He may just know how to clean his filters.
Asturias ❤❤❤❤❤
A whole week in 17 mins 🎉
LOL, you’ve gotten better over time…. Your grumpiness, I mean… Photography is on point.
Hoping to visit that area in September. Looking great!

Absolutely love, love the photos on this trip, Thomas.
Good idea going for a run, energy makes energy.
Gorgeous shots, Thomas
Superb, it’s simply not possible in photography to have too broad an experience, we continue to learn if we keep an open mind! 👏👍😀🍺
Would love to see how a picture looks with the broken ND. Could be a load of rubbish, but could also be an interesting effect.
I was born and bred in Australia but my heritage is Spanish from Cantabria, we still have a house in the village there.

Hi Thomas great video and photos as normal, would you mind sharing with me the rolling case that you used in this trip.
another brilliant video well done hoping to get back into it more this year
Absolutely wonderful video and beautiful images!
Such a beautiful part of the world!
Hoping to get up there in the autumn this year.
Cheers

Stunning B&W images.
loved the 16x9 B&W shot

"Haveagoochei screy" - Thomas Heaton 2024
Arnia,one of my favorite places.
Some beautiful landscapes Tom, loved the image at 6:00 and black and white image at 9:20. Really enjoyed this vlog Tom 👍
Haha watching you run my first thought was - Run Thomas Run ( Forest Gump) hahahaha 😊
welcome back to Spain...

Looks like an amazing workshop! Great pictures as always!
'c mon, Thomas : you have 24 hours in a day, and then the night ... :-) Loved the video and the photo's ! Kind regards, Guy.
Your xt-5 would have been awesome on this trip.
Some superb locations and images here Thomas. Those waves though. Brilliant, my favourite kind of beach. Keep shooting those and you'll be featured in Chasing Awe by Gavin Hardcastle. 🤣

Rigorous adventure! Crikey. Don't think I would do it so well. Beautiful images though.

I live in the U.S. but my grandparents are from Northern Spain in the Asturias region. I think the city is Aviles.
My wife and I have hiked the Camino a couple of times but I was never able to bring my camera. I look forward to going back to shoot someday!

I was waiting for this
You just needed to take a nap during mid-day!
❤❤❤
Very nice 👌
