This time a closer look at Inductive Proximity Sensors (Switches). 3 wire NPN, PNP and 2 wire types. NO / NC. Some tests and wiring diagrams. Video might be handy for somebody first time touching these.

Can I use it for sorting different plastics

It detects only metal as you see on the end video. Capacity sensors are able to detect plastic but not quite sort it by itself

Triboelectric sensors are used to sort plastic.
