I have played my 005 invikta a couple of rounds now, really impressed with it so far. For context I started my pickles “career” on an 003 and then pretty quickly went into playing with a power air. The 005 has a heavier, more sturdy feel to the swing and strike of the ball, the hinge point is a bit different, feels slower. To counter this I put some tungsten tape on the bottom of the smiley face opening. I also run two full strips up from the grip. This lands me at 8.7oz The pop and drive potential with spin is greater then I could ever achieve with the power air and 003. The touch and placement is there too. I have more command and laser like accuracy with this setup, diggin this one. The backhand whip and roll is on point. …Put together my best doubles game ever with it after just a couple of games. Looking forward to how it plays and how my game evolves in the days to come.
Can't expect it to live up to the spin of the 006 because the 005 is fiberglass while the 006 is RCF. Some spin tests already conducted have the 006 with 30%+ spin over the 005. Time will tell I guess, but if the 005 is similar to the 002 in surface grit, it will wear out significantly over time.
I’m so excited to have both coming! I think this may be Selkirk’s best yet. Didn’t like 003 and Selkirk’s site list the 006 as having both more power and control than the 005. Do you agree?
@@edjupickleball all the pictures i see the 005 paddle surface actually looks smooth? a couple other reviews saying the spin is below average. any truth to this?
I add two strips of Selkirk Tungsten tape, 1 on each side. They are .1 oz each. I also add two overgrips on mine which definitely adds some weight to the handle. www.selkirk.com/collections/accessories/products/tungsten-tape?sca_ref=2798368.rK1mK3pKmd

Love seeing the different takes on this paddle. Great review.
Just an FYI, the 005 is assembled in the USA. The 006 is the one that is made in the USA.
You’re right! That’s my mistake, thank you for the correction!
I just got this paddle and agree completely. I absolutely LOVE it!

I have a very similar experience and set up to yours!

I totally agree...I have a project 005 and love it! Gives me the touch and feel that my ProKennex lacked.
Selkirk's website says "Assembled " in USA that is different than made in the USA just pointing that out but great review thank you
I agree with everything you said in your review. GREAT paddle!!

Personally I didn’t find the 006 to have more control than the 005
How is cleaning the paddle do you us a micro cloth thing or just use a paddle eraser ?
Watching this after picking up the lab 005 during their $99 Christmas sale.
I had a 005 and sent it back after a month because the face was super soft. The new one has barely enough grip. Would the Hesacore make a difference?
Lead tape on the sides should take care of that vibration
Agreed! I put tungesten tape on mine
@@edjupickleball My 005 just arrived. It came with the tungesten tape. Putting it on now before I head up to the courts!

Would you recommend the paddle after 2 months? Thanks
Does 005 have the coating of power air? How is the grit/spin comparing to power air and the old AmPEd paddles?
Same coating as the power air, I believe. The Grit/spin is comparable to the labs 003 and definitely more than the Amped.

Definitely could tell you’re sponsored by selkirk… this paddle is definitely not great . Especially for the price point…
Just my opinion! I encourage people to demo it and form their own opinion of it 👍🏼
How do you know it’s not great? What makes a great paddle?
🔥what a paddle
What hat are you wearing? Love the blue with yellow strap!
It’s a topo hat! One of my favs!
