That's straight from the horses mouth. Teofimo Lopez requested the designation from the WBC. Lopez and Bob Arum filed the paperwork (by email) and it was decided by vote, just like Lomachenko and Canelo. Who's the real email champ?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And of course Lopez lied and claimed he didn't request it, but Sulaiman quickly checked him and called him out for lying. He then reiterated the fact that Haney is the WBC champion of the world. ESPN has Haney listed as champion just like Boxrec, The Ring, and every other reputable source of information on boxing.
Real championships aren't determined by vote. You don't ask. You take what you want. Lomachenko won the vacant belt after beating Campbell. Then he vacated it to avoid facing his mandatory challenger Devin Haney. According to WBC regulations, a person who wins the vacant belt must take on 2 challengers to be officially recognized as the full champion. Lomachenko never did that, so he had no real claim to the title anyway. Plus he vacated the belt so how could Lopez win something Lomachenko never had??
Devin Haney has defended his title twice against Santiago and Gamboa. He also has two mandatory defenses against Ryan Garcia and Javier Fortuna this year. He is fulfilling his duties and responsibilities as champion. Lopez is ducking and running his mouth claiming to be something he's not. It's disrespectful to somebody like Crawford who actually earned it. No shortcuts. No excuses.
But setting the facts aside, the fact that there is a dispute over who the WBC champion is demonstrates that Lopez is NOT undisputed. Nobody disputes Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, Bernard Hopkins, or Jermain Taylor. They are the only true undisputed champions in the 4 belt era.
The last true undisputed lightweight champion was Pernell Whittaker from 1990-1992. If you think Teofimo Lopez deserves to have his name spoken in the same breath as Sweet Pea, you need your head checked.

His boxing "guru" status is dubious as well, coming off the back of association with Jim Lampley. This clown had the nerve to argue with George Foreman and Roy Jones Jr about boxing instead of shutting his mouth and learning from people who have lived the stories that they're trying to narrate.
And another thing, the correlation between education and wealth is a myth. Most highly educated people never attain massive wealth. They typically end of as employees. Highly specialized knowledge is the catalyst to create wealth. Max Kellerman is an Ivy league graduate, Columbia if I'm not mistaken. If he was so smart, then why did he just get schooled by a high school dropout who made $300M in 30 minutes???

No. Floyd got offended because he knows Max is full of sh*t. Free TV numbers don't equate to PPV or butts in the seats and Max knows that. Loma vs Teo was the best TV numbers done on ESPN.
The best numbers for FOX was the Spence vs Bundu fight pulling in over 6 million homes. Tank fights exclusively on Showtime and PPV. In his early career he was on Spike which is a much smaller network so the comparison is not the same. Neither is the comparison of premium TV channels to regular channels like ESPN.
ESPN vs FOX, it's not even close that PBC fighters crush Top Rank every single time.
I'll acknowledge the win over Loma and the fact that Teo is a threat but that kid couldn't sell out MSG and he's from Brooklyn. Tank sells out everywhere. They're drawing power is not even close.

@@hennycfc9907 Teofimo is definitely a threat in the ring. He's proven to be a much more skilled and talented boxer than most people give him credit for. I really can't say who would win that fight, and his belts do give him a lot of leverage in the negotiations. But the A side is about drawing power. For example, Floyd Mayweather had to take the B side to Arturo Gatti. Was Gatti the better or more accomplished fighter? No. Gatti was a god after the Gatti Ward trilogy. He packed the house every time on the Boardwalk in AC. Floyd had to respect it.
In their case, the deal could be structured with a progressive revenue split set at specific revenue thresholds. Assuming the fight is worth $30M, Let's say $15M since Tank has proven that he can do $18M on PPV. So from $0-$15M, Tank gets the split his way. From $15M up, Teo gets the split his way. They could both get an equal guaranteed minimum of $4-$5M and come out just fine.
Floyd did the same thing with Pacquiao. He got 60/40 up to $180M and 51/49 from $180M and up. The fight ended up being worth $600M. Most of that went to the networks due to the cross promotional nature of the fight, but you get the point. It's fair and both of them walked away far wealthier than before.
