I was 19. My husband just came home from his 4th tour in Afghanistan. We had an 8th month old, and I was 4 months pregnant when they handed me that folded flag and I watched my life lowered in the ground.
This is one for the families whose service is TOO OFTEN overlooked. We (I have been guilty of this also) often disregard that the families are serving also, just not on the front lines.
This song tore me up when it came out. My son and his wife just got married. She just turned 18 and he deployed for a year! I bawled my eyes out everything it came on! I was a military brat my whole life, born and lived on base, but when it’s your baby going to war, it hits so much differently
I went through my first Military funeral at 18 just 6 months after we married.the year was 1974. My second one at 55 after being married 32 years. The year was 2012. Both very unexpected. Both very hard. My second husband went to Vietnam twice and made it home safe. My first was actually run over by a plane on an Aircraft Carrier off the shore of Vietnam. The gun fire and the flags are so hard to be brave through. I miss my second husband every day still. He was my everything and still is.
As a Canadian Veteran's wife, one of the biggest fears is having a military personnel with a priest (padre) come to your door. It usually is not to see how you're doing. I'm thankful that he is now retired and that won't happen but it does happen everyday for other serving families. I'm still worried as our kids are in service as police officers and firefighter. You learn to live with that fear everyday. This one gets me everytime. Thank you to all who have served and are serving. To the families, stay strong.
T & Tasha, as soon as I got the alert for this song, I knew that it wasn’t going to sit very well with y’all. It is a beautiful song and the video is beautiful as well. I know that Tasha doesn’t like watching things like this, but this is real life. With all the military that we have in this country, this is a real possibility. On the other hand, you never know when you walk out the door if you’ll be coming back. Look at our law-enforcement officers. None of us are promised tomorrow! Thank you so much for hanging in there and reacting to this video. Love ya both!!!
I can tell you that when it's someone you love and they do the 21 gun salute..it actually feels like you got shot in the heart. It goes beyond just hearing it.
Whenever I see people burning my flag this is the hurt I feel. Salute to every soldier and fam of a soldier my heart will remain patriotic and proud of my country for myself and every individual in uniform 🇺🇸
I completely agree with you! It's not just the soldiers who serve, but also thier family and friends. If you have served or someone in your circle has served I want to personally thank you for the service you are or have done so that I can type , say, and write whatever I want because of the freedoms you and or your circle are or have faught for. I know it will NEVER come close to the sacrifices that have been made but again THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FIGHTING FOR THE FREEDOMS I AND EVERY OTHER AMERICAN HAVE AND CONTINUE USING! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We played this at my grandpa’s military funeral. And she’s right ….the sound of those bullets go through your heart. But y’all done got me crying again!
I know just how that feels my husband was a Vietnam veteran I lost him 9 years ago. To cancer when the 21 gun salute was done it felt like that bullet hit my heart and is still there 💔 I feel like I'm in a bad dream I can't wake up from!!!
You know when I was a young sailor I was asked by an army sergeant to award my father my brothers flag at his funeral, I did it but it changed my entire life. I can’t stand to hear taps and after spending 22.5 years in the navy I forbid it to be played at my eventual funeral!
You had me crying two reactions in a row…first Reba and now Carrie! But I loved your reactions on both! Thank you for your service to all of our servicemen and women! My daughter was in the army in field artillery. But thank god she’s out but her fiancée is still in the Air Force and in air artillery. So I pray she never has to go through this!!!
Thanks for this one. It's my favorite from Carrie and I've heard it so many times yet it always affects me. She's amazing! The video (except for the dude who can't act) was powerful, especially when her dress and veil slowly turn from white to black. The pain is palpable!
I've been the one to hand the mother that folded up flag. Far too easy for me to remember Rob (though we called him 'Mike' because of his last name, as a joke), and remembering the 21-gun still makes me tear up
@TNT- Thanks so much for doing Carrie Underwood. She is the best. I have seen her in Concert 3 times and her shows just keep getting better. She is defitnetly not new though guys. She has been singing for 20 years. A great upbeat song of her's you guys should react to though is one called The Champion. You guys will love this one.
Y'all should watch her live performances. I recommend the Blown Away medley that she did and her recent CMT performance of Ghost story. If you want some funny Carrie songs, I recommend her performance of "The more boys I meet" from her Toronto concert since she says some funny things about finding "the one" and she met her now-husband at the very concert.
She has a song that is kind of Opposite of this one, but it’s a good sad! “ I will see you again”, it’s my favorite by Carrie is the most Beautiful song, it’s one by of those you feel in your heart It’s worth seeing I promise ❤
As a veteran, my wife once said, “Now I know why military wives cheated….” when I told her I gotta leave. I ended up resigned my commission, but that KNIFE 🔪❤😢 thou
This song is not allowed in my house. I was an Infantryman deployed to Afghanistan in '08-''09. If my wife ever left the hose to do errands while I was deployed, she would look down the street before she got back home to see if there was a government car out front waiting to deliver "the notification." This song is about her fears which are still too fresh in her mind 14 years later.
Not sure if you have reacted to her song "Drinking Alone" it is so bluesy and jazzy. Great video also. The guy in the video is her husband Hockey player Mike Fisher.
I may be an idiot for making this comment because I don't know all of the songs of hers you have reacted to, but if you haven't heard Something in the Water, your emotional roller coaster will continue!
If this mad you cry whatever you do don’t react to Brooks and Dunn “believe” or “remember when” by Allen Jackson. You probably wouldn’t make it through the first chorus
Kord Zane go cheer her ⬆️Charlie ow kord zan 👁fell 4 chad 🐍 like charm that he Is the ☀️ of 👨⚕️Thaddeus black and the tuff guys aka the scrap force they both 💔my ❤😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿😿
"I know this song is pretty old news but I just have to put in my two cents. First of all, I agree with the previous analyses that they were married before he died. Perhaps it is just because of the place I was in when I first heard this song. I was married, and my husband was about to deploy to Iraq. That said, I despise this song with vengeance. I couldn't listen to country radio for the first six months my husband was gone because of the fact that every time I heard even the first few notes I started bawling to the extent that I couldn't see, which was bad news when I was driving. Two weeks after my husband deployed, there was a fatality in our brigade, and right after I left the memorial service, this song came on, and since then I have been unable to listen to it without being reminded of my worst fears. It isn't as if it doesn't already occur to me on occasion without the help of a song, but the mental imagery of being handed a folded up flag is NOT what I want. So, thank you Carrie Underwood, for making a song that reminds me of everything that keeps me up late at night crying. Since you can't possibly have any idea what it is like to actually worry about this, or even worse go through it, I truly think you might just be the most heartless songwriter that ever existed."
I was 19. My husband just came home from his 4th tour in Afghanistan. We had an 8th month old, and I was 4 months pregnant when they handed me that folded flag and I watched my life lowered in the ground.
I’m so sorry that happened to your family.
I'm so very sorry for your immense loss.
Thank you for what you sacrificed for all of us. I'm sorry for your loss and forever grateful for your husband.
Im so sorry for your loss
Prayers for you and the kids. This happens too much. Thank you for your sacrifice.
This is my mother's story. She got that letter in 1968 when she was 7 months pregnant with me. The folded flag hangs on my wall today.
I’m so sorry for what you and your mother had to go through. I hope you both are doing well and know that your father will always live in your hearts
As the spouse of a retired Air Force guy and mom of a currently serving airman.. this song hit different.. ty for giving the families voices
This is one for the families whose service is TOO OFTEN overlooked. We (I have been guilty of this also) often disregard that the families are serving also, just not on the front lines.

Everytime I listen to this song I cried
Carrie can tug at the heartstrings for sure.

She's been around since 2006. Since winning American idol. The biggest winner to ever come from that show.

This brings tears every time I hear it. Such an amazing job.
The transition from wedding dress to funeral dress is genius!
This song always gets me 😭😭

I balled my eyes out the first time i heard and watched the video.

Spinning Bottles by Carrie is so beautiful! Choctaw County Affair is amazing as well!
I know just how that feels my husband was a Vietnam veteran I lost him 9 years ago. To cancer when the 21 gun salute was done it felt like that bullet hit my heart and is still there 💔 I feel like I'm in a bad dream I can't wake up from!!!
this is one video this really happens sadly sometimes to military couples. the reason I know I am an Army veteran
Thank you for your service. The sacrifices don't go unnoticed. 💙 from Texas.
Her CMT Awards live performance of Chuch Bells is so good
You know when I was a young sailor I was asked by an army sergeant to award my father my brothers flag at his funeral, I did it but it changed my entire life. I can’t stand to hear taps and after spending 22.5 years in the navy I forbid it to be played at my eventual funeral!
Love a good tear jerker.
Carrie - Something in the water Very uplifting!!!
Finally brought myself to watch this! Need to feel the feels. Great reaction y;all!
Carrie Underwood has so many great songs. She is truly an amazing country singer. Another song you need to check out is The Letter by Chevel Shepherd.
Sending hugs from Texas.
You had me crying two reactions in a row…first Reba and now Carrie! But I loved your reactions on both! Thank you for your service to all of our servicemen and women! Her voice captivates your emotions
My husband's a soldier and this song destroys me yet every time he deployed i listened to it when i needed to cry at night while our kids slept.
No this song gets me everytime 😩😭
Thanks for this one. It's my favorite from Carrie and I've heard it so many times yet it always affects me. She's amazing! The video (except for the dude who can't act) was powerful, especially when her dress and veil slowly turn from white to black. The pain is palpable!
Damn this one even tore me up even after the number of Services I've had to attend.
This song came out the year my husband was deployed in 2011 I believe. It was hard even all these years later its still hard
She was a winner on American Idol
This and whiskey lullaby always get me deep in my emotions.
Heat breaking. You need to watch her song I Will See You Again. It came out when my son passed away and it gave me a little peace
I'm sorry about your loss I'll say a prayer for you and your family
Unfortunately, some dreams are not what we want. But that's life.
Thanks for the reaction.
Loved this reaction and this video, the song by itself is great, but the video and Carrie's acting ability puts the video over the top.
Champion with her and ludicrous
I remember bringing this song up on one of your live streams for country. Another one to try is "what can I say " its a duet worth listening to
She won season 4 of American Idol and AI is celebrating 20 years this year
I've been the one to hand the mother that folded up flag. Far too easy for me to remember Rob (though we called him 'Mike' because of his last name, as a joke), and remembering the 21-gun still makes me tear up
Carrie Won AMERICAN IDOL in 2005. she has been a country artist ever since. i wouldnt call her a new artist, almost 18 years now.
Love this song but sooo damn sad!
@TNT- Thanks so much for doing Carrie Underwood. She is the best. I have seen her in Concert 3 times and her shows just keep getting better. She is defitnetly not new though guys. This is such a gut wrenching video to watch. Especially if you have any real experience in the subject matter. Incredible song tho. 🥺💔
Her voice is so good. Try "Blown Away", "Jesus Take The Wheel", and "Before He Cheats". 🙂
This song needed to come with a warning label.
Far from new I have been listening to her for over 10 years
Keep us Safe from Carrie Underwood is a tear jerking song as well
This was very HARD , BUT Thanks

Wars have destroyed so many lives and the vast majority of people never give it a second thought.
This is why I hate war.. Even if a man comes home, they are often totally different than the man you sent away.. There are NO winners in a war..
i saw the song title and went " OOO shit" and clicked fast as HELL
"CHAMPION"CARRIE UNDERWOOD,FT LUDACRIS, WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO

Lol great reaction! Don’t watch If You’re Reading This by Tim McGraw lol, same topic
Brother it's ok to cry, real men cry, the greatest man that ever lived cried, Jesus wept.
Listen to Lynn Anderson ‘I never promised you a rose garden.’ It’s a bit more upbeat.

You guys are cool. This song messed me up.... coming from a veteran.
The hardest job in the military is being the spouse of someone in the military.

Carrie Underwood needs to stop bruh 😔
Not emotional at all. Sorry.
