    I am so glad to see that my old, ancient stud vest made it to an official Voivod video. It shows on about 5 minutes point in the video. It is over 30 years old, and I gave it to Snake at their Tampere gig one and a half years ago. I am so happy to see that my silly vest got a new life with Snake actually wearing it. This was a win-win for all of us. My heart is melting.

      My friends and I bought RRROOOAAARRR when it was new. We heard something special there, especially in Körgull. When Killing Technology was released, it changed metal forever and transformed my entire perception of music. Not just heavy music: ALL music.
      As for me, yeah, I'm an old motherfucker at 56, but not even close to growing up yet. Music like this helps keep your youth intact. BTW, I hope everyone here has heard the latest Sepultura monstrosity of awesomeness, Quadra. I think I hear some Voivod influence creeping around in there...

      I don't think that Voivod is the proggiest metal band around at all, I think they bring something truly unique to the table that is really hard to classify. To this day they are a profound influence on experimental metal of all spectrums from rockier stuff to black/death - heck the bassist even did a collab with Virus.

    Celtic Frost used horns on many songs too, but this is on another level. This is sick, and I kinda love it. I must watch this again. Voivod was always hard to understand at first, but when you get it, you love it. They have surprised me once again.

    • @voronOsphere
      @voronOsphere 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Celtic Frost horns were more otherworldly and cinematic. Definitely amazing, especially on "Innocence and Wrath!" These Voivod Horns are more Jazzy with cinematic qualities from the 1940s! Someone in the comments here said: "Ben Hur meets H. P. Lovecraft (the early 70s Prog-Band?)."

      He studied Piggy's guitar methods and understands Piggy's approach more than anyone in the world, plus he brings his own wonderful approach and skills! I didn't know about the recent album "The Wake," but I'm so blown away by it now! Chewy really does fit in. But Piggy was always the main architect!

      He's got a more "Jazzy" vibe -- its solo in Obsolete Beings weirdly reminded me of Norway's Tejre Rypdal, a jazz guitarist -- but he nevertheless manages to channel Piggy's spirit in a great way.

    it's really good. the jazz, the metal, the bauhaus, the 50s sci-fi, the progrock, the horror, the editing, the aesthetic, the acting, ... so it's basically perfect. the only thing missing is a guitar solo, the kind guthrie govan or alan holdsworth or scott henderson or maybe alex lifeson would play. but then that might also just distract from all the other stuff that's going on. so it's basically perfect. :-)

    I have been a fan of Voivod since the beginning! I stopped listening to the band when Snake left. I came back when he returned. I was unsure how the band would sound when they began making music without Piggy. The band is still amazing!

      @@soulfare333 to expand on daves comment, voivod is from quebec, a french speaking province. I'm english canadian, but surely they deserve one supportive comment in they're own language? I could argue the surrender point as it applies to france itself, but dumbass was an quite acceptable way to conclude a response to you indeed.

    Quel son! 99% du temps, j'pas capable de savoir ou est la bass dans un mix quand j'entends un band de Metal. La ya une section de brass en plus et j'entends tout et tout le monde parfaitement. Ça c'est a part de tout le reste qui est écoeurant!

    I"ve been a big Voïvod fan since Killing Technology was first released and have heard all their songs.... THIS IS TRULY EPIC. PLEASE MAKE MORE SONGS WITH BRASS INSTRUMENTS OR EVEN ORCHESTRA. THE ADDED BRASS METAL SECTION DELIVERS THIS VIDEO AS IF IT WERE A WHOLE SCIFI MOVIE. Reminds me of Sigh and their brass movieish songs, but this surpasses their songs. This brass metal section has a slight jazz funk sound that compliments all the riffs in this song. I am also a big fan of Metallica's S&M orchestrations that Michael Kamen composed, but this song is far better than anything Metallica has done in decades, even their S&M2 concert they recently did and await its release.
