According to interpreters of Quran, God made Zachariah, the one who took care of Orphan Mary, unable to speak for 3 days.. because I will abbreviate, he used enter to Mary In her chamber (room), and see with her summer fruits, in winter!!! and winter food in Summer time? which is impossible, so he asked here from where you get this , she said from God , so seeing impossible becoming possible, and he being old wanted a baby and his wife can not have a baby, so he pray, the prayer was answered, and Angles spoke to him and gave him the good news that will have a baby, but he got surprise that he could have the baby being old, and not only that, he even asked for a sign ... so God taught him by giving him a small punishment, not to be able to talk for 3 days, without defect in his tongue, as another verse explains in chapter 3, which expand some part of his story.
Also, Mary was chosen because she was especial and pious and her parents too.
Maybe God made her fast, so people when they ask her " how come you have a baby?" , she would not answer and god let the Baby defend the reputation of Mary, peace be upon them both, and this would be a miracle, and show that Mary is innocent and Test from god for the people.
By the way when people said "sister of Harun" it does not mean Harun brother of Moses.. but from descendant of his lineage , till today some region in Arabia do it the same way, Arab may call another Arab, ya akha al Arab , brother of arab, but the person is not brother of Arab, he is actually an Arab, but this form of name, is in Semitic Languages, which Arabic and Hebrew and Aramaic the language of Jesus, share in common the three are sister language.

The reason why Mary was chosen by God Almighty is because her parents were righteous people and Mary's mum the wife of Imran prayed to God so that she gets a righteous child that she will take to prophet zechariah (pbuh) to learn from. Allah gave her Mary, and she took her to prophet zechariah and Mary was pious girl and Allah gave her Jesus (pbuh) as a blessing and mercy.
Allah chooses whoever he wants.... The reason for that, only Allah knows, never mentioned anywhere why. Those guys asked simply a wrong quesion while they should infact atleast investigate the Surah rather than asking why she was choosen.
Good answer iszalac but you forget to mention about hatred at that time believe that Imran wife will had a son who will be a great man and they intended to kill that baby but Allah Subhanahuataala gave Imran a daughter and the intent assassination was cancelled. But they've been fool from Mary, then came a son that God planned to become a messenger. God is the best planner.

No it was pre determined by allah himself before. To make them righteous beings. Allah chose who to guide, but guidance of a person depends on the heart.

The reason why God chose Mary is mentioned in Surah Al Imran, the third chapter of the quran.
Mary's family is from the family of Imran, and they would worship God together as a family, and God loved them. Mary's mother wished to have a son who would be devout in worship to God, so she made a prayer. But God gave her a daughter instead. And Mary was always blessed even from a young age, she spent alot of time in seclusion worshiping God. Its a nice story if you're interested .
And Also back then, another form of fasting was also not speaking, but with the final revalation, God made it easier for us.
The reason why It's mentioned twice in this chapter is to give a contrast that, although yes Jesus was a miraculous birth, So was the birth of John where his father had reached Old age and his wife was barren, that's also a miracle. And in comparison The birth of Jesus was a miracle, but it doesn't mean he was not Human.
Notice how John (Yahya) said the same thing as Jesus said when he was in the cradle.

There is no son daughter uncle parents aunty of God Almighty.
Jesus was not begotten son of God . He was messenger sent for people of Israel only.

Yes, but the title, "son of god" was used by the jews back then to honor someone, not to make him the literal son of god, and if you think about it what they call god in Christianity "father" is actually a pretty genius term, because god raised all humanity, told us what is right and wrong, told us science and everything, but not the actual "father" if you know what i mean
Why God choose Mary to be the mother of Jesus?
The answer in Surah Al Imdrani
وَإِذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا مَرْيَمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَاكِ وَطَهَّرَكِ وَاصْطَفَاكِ عَلَى نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ. يَا مَرْيَمُ اقْنُتِي لِرَبِّكِ وَاسْجُدِي وَارْكَعِي مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ. ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا كُنْتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يُلْقُونَ أَقْلَامَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ يَكْفُلُ مَرْيَمَ وَمَا كُنْتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ (آل عمران 42:3-44)
English

And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds.
O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. And you were not with them when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Mary. Nor were you with them when they disputed.
[And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ].
He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."
She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is Allah ; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.
And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel
And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah . And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead - by permission of Allah . And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.
And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me.
Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path."
But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allah ?" The disciples said," We are supporters for Allah . We have believed in Allah and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].
Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger Jesus, so register us among the witnesses [to truth]."
And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners.
[Mention] when Allah said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.

In 24:39 You've asked "Why specifically is Mary the one who gave birth to Jesus Christ?"
The answer is in Quran, Surah Al-Imran chapter3 verses 33-63, just read them and you'll find the answer.
[3:43] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان

O Maryam (Mary)! Obey your Lord consistently with utmost humbleness, prostrate yourself, and bow down in worship along with those who bow down.’

"ذٰلِکَ مِنۡ اَنۡۢبَآءِ الۡغَیۡبِ نُوۡحِیۡہِ اِلَیۡکَ ؕ وَ مَا کُنۡتَ لَدَیۡہِمۡ اِذۡ یُلۡقُوۡنَ اَقۡلَامَہُمۡ اَیُّہُمۡ یَکۡفُلُ مَرۡیَمَ ۪ وَ مَا کُنۡتَ لَدَیۡہِمۡ اِذۡ یَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَ ﴿۴۴﴾
(O Beloved!) These are the tidings of the unseen which We reveal to you. But (at that time) you were not present with them when they were casting their pens (by way of a draw to determine) which of them should take care of Maryam (Mary). Nor were you with them when they were disputing with one another.

[3:45] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"اِذۡ قَالَتِ الۡمَلٰٓئِکَۃُ یٰمَرۡیَمُ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ یُبَشِّرُکِ بِکَلِمَۃٍ مِّنۡہُ ٭ۖ اسۡمُہُ الۡمَسِیۡحُ عِیۡسَی ابۡنُ مَرۡیَمَ وَجِیۡہًا فِی الدُّنۡیَا وَ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ وَ مِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِیۡنَ ﴿ۙ۴۵﴾
When the angels said: ‘O Maryam (Mary), surely, Allah gives you glad tidings of a (particular) Word from Him named the Messiah, ‘Isa, the son of Maryam (Jesus, the son of Mary), who would be eminent and exalted, (both) in this world and in the Hereafter, and would be of those who are exceptionally intimate servants of Allah blessed with His nearness.

[3:46] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"وَ یُکَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِی الۡمَہۡدِ وَ کَہۡلًا وَّ مِنَ الصّٰلِحِیۡنَ ﴿۴۶﴾
And he will talk to the people (alike) both in the cradle and in ripe years, and he will be one of the most pious servants (of Allah).’

[3:47] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"قَالَتۡ رَبِّ اَنّٰی یَکُوۡنُ لِیۡ وَلَدٌ وَّ لَمۡ یَمۡسَسۡنِیۡ بَشَرٌ ؕ قَالَ کَذٰلِکِ اللّٰہُ یَخۡلُقُ مَا یَشَآءُ ؕ اِذَا قَضٰۤی اَمۡرًا فَاِنَّمَا یَقُوۡلُ لَہٗ کُنۡ فَیَکُوۡنُ ﴿۴۷﴾
Maryam (Mary) submitted: ‘O my Lord, how shall I have a son when no man has ever touched me?’ He said: ‘Just as Allah creates what He pleases.’ When He decides (to do) some work, He just gives it the command ‘Be,’ and it becomes.

[3:48] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"وَ یُعَلِّمُہُ الۡکِتٰبَ وَ الۡحِکۡمَۃَ وَ التَّوۡرٰىۃَ وَ الۡاِنۡجِیۡلَ ﴿ۚ۴۸﴾
And Allah will teach him the Book and the wisdom, the Torah and the Injil ([the Gospel] everything).

[3:49] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"وَ رَسُوۡلًا اِلٰی بَنِیۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِیۡلَ ۬ۙ اَنِّیۡ قَدۡ جِئۡتُکُمۡ بِاٰیَۃٍ مِّنۡ رَّبِّکُمۡ ۙ اَنِّیۡۤ اَخۡلُقُ لَکُمۡ مِّنَ الطِّیۡنِ کَہَیۡـَٔۃِ الطَّیۡرِ فَاَنۡفُخُ فِیۡہِ فَیَکُوۡنُ طَیۡرًۢا بِاِذۡنِ اللّٰہِ ۚ وَ اُبۡرِیُٔ الۡاَکۡمَہَ وَ الۡاَبۡرَصَ وَ اُحۡیِ الۡمَوۡتٰی بِاِذۡنِ اللّٰہِ ۚ وَ اُنَبِّئُکُمۡ بِمَا تَاۡکُلُوۡنَ وَ مَا تَدَّخِرُوۡنَ ۙ فِیۡ بُیُوۡتِکُمۡ ؕ اِنَّ فِیۡ ذٰلِکَ لَاٰیَۃً لَّکُمۡ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ مُّؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ﴿ۚ۴۹﴾
And he will be a Messenger to the Children of Israel, (saying to them:) ‘I have undoubtedly brought to you a sign from your Lord: I design for you from clay (a figure) like the shape of a bird; then I breathe into it; and at once it becomes a flying bird by Allah’s command. And I restore health to the born blind, and the lepers, and raise the dead to life by the command of Allah. And I inform you of (all) what you have eaten, and what you have hoarded in your houses. Truly, there is a sign in it for you if you believe.
Glorious Quran
[3:50] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"وَ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَیۡنَ یَدَیَّ مِنَ التَّوۡرٰىۃِ وَ لِاُحِلَّ لَکُمۡ بَعۡضَ الَّذِیۡ حُرِّمَ عَلَیۡکُمۡ وَ جِئۡتُکُمۡ بِاٰیَۃٍ مِّنۡ رَّبِّکُمۡ ۟ فَاتَّقُوا اللّٰہَ وَ اَطِیۡعُوۡنِ ﴿۵۰﴾
And I validate the (Book) Torah sent down before me, and that is because I may declare certain things lawful for you which were forbidden to you as unlawful. And I have come to you from your Lord with a sign. So, fear Allah and obey me.
Glorious Quran
[3:51] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"اِنَّ اللّٰہَ رَبِّیۡ وَ رَبُّکُمۡ فَاعۡبُدُوۡہُ ؕ ہٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُّسۡتَقِیۡمٌ ﴿۵۱﴾
Verily, Allah is my Lord and your Lord too. So worship Him alone. This is the straight path.’

[3:52] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"فَلَمَّاۤ اَحَسَّ عِیۡسٰی مِنۡہُمُ الۡکُفۡرَ قَالَ مَنۡ اَنۡصَارِیۡۤ اِلَی اللّٰہِ ؕ قَالَ الۡحَوَارِیُّوۡنَ نَحۡنُ اَنۡصَارُ اللّٰہِ ۚ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰہِ ۚ وَ اشۡہَدۡ بِاَنَّا مُسۡلِمُوۡنَ ﴿۵۲﴾
Later, when ‘Isa (Jesus) sensed their disbelief, he said: ‘Who are my helpers in the way of Allah?’ His sincere companions submitted: ‘We are the helpers of (the Din [Religion] of) Allah. We have believed in Allah and bear witness that we are surely Muslims.

and as for fasting..that is nations before Allah given them rules, right now Muslim only fast in ramadan.. u can also fast every week or so doesn't matter for good deeds but most people don't but Ramadan fasting is must unless ur unhealthy and got medical issues whatsoever

I've just realised something so important in this video that most people will miss during this recitation there was constant Crowing of a rooster in the background. This is amazing because we have a narration about the crowing of the rooster. Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying. When you listen to the crowing of the cock, ask Allah for His favour as it sees Angels and when you listen to the braying of the donkey, seek refuge in Allah from the Satan for it sees Satan. -- Sahih Muslim 2729. "یَوۡمَئِذٍ یَّوَدُّ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا وَ عَصَوُا الرَّسُوۡلَ لَوۡ تُسَوّٰی بِہِمُ الۡاَرۡضُ ؕ وَ لَا یَکۡتُمُوۡنَ اللّٰہَ حَدِیۡثًا ﴿٪۴۲﴾
On that Day those who disbelieved and disobeyed the Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) will wish that (after burying them) the earth over them were levelled. And they will not be able to hide anything from Allah.

You can find the answer in another surah : when her mother was pregnant she made an oath to give her child to God (as a servent or like a munk or something like that) but she was a girl and she said the boy is not like a girl . So she was the first woman (Mary)to isolate her self in a mihrab and pray , and she was before that raised by Zakaria pbuh
For the fasting thing : in the ancient time they used to fast on talking instead of food

The reason Mary (AS) didn't speak because in an older Israelite tradition that was given to the prophets when they fasted they didn't speak to anyone. When they responded to someone with gestures it was understood that they are fasting and will not speak to anyone.

Thise fasts they were mentioned here it was fast of silence. Not the fast of abstinence from food and drink. There are many kinds of fasts. It is not only in middle east but also in other cultures historically . like in india... since ancient times they used to practice fasting of silence on some days in which you dont speak to anyone and just stay quiet.
