This is my freshly minted metric-driven English rendition of the Tagalog classic popular folk song, “Leron Leron Sinta.” Take it for a test drive and please let me know how it rides.

Let's go my dear coquette,
Climb the papaya tree;
Take the wicker basket,
Go pick some fruit for me.
When you approach the top,
It sways most viciously;
Please just prevent mishap,
Cling tight most cautiously.

Love me my dear maiden,
Your most courageous knight;
Never I’d feign abstain
From any vicious fight;
With seven Scimitars,
Nine loaded guns, and Kris,
Fight my own bogus wars,
Vanquish fried noodles dish!

Wake up my precious lass,
Greet our day with your smile;
Grace us with your pizzazz,
Linger one longer while;
Grant us you entertain,
Our shadow of your dream;
Sing us your sweet refrain,
Our lost soul you’ll redeem!

*My own original locution for the title of the popular classic Tagalog folk song, “Leron Leron Sinta.” For context basis, the vernacular lyrics were audio-gleaned from the attached video clip. The third and last Octrain (double quatrain) is an original Asumen variation of the lyrics.
