The Burmese Buddhist Temple (also known as Maha Sasana Ramsi; Chinese: 缅甸玉佛寺) is the oldest Theravada institution and the only Burmese Buddhist temple of its kind in Singapore.
The temple is located at 14 Tai Gin Rd, Singapore 327873. The temple is open daily from 11am to 6pm.
Due to Covid19 movement restriction, this video only shows the Level 1 and Compound area of the temple which consists of the following,
- Sitting Buddha (释迦牟尼佛) at the first floor in the Burmese Buddhist temple shows the Hand gestures (Mudra). It signifies the call upon the earth goddess to witness the ten perfections which the Buddha fulfilled during his Bodhisatta days in his previous lives on earth.
- The Page Boy (Thu-nge-daw) makes sure all is in good order for the arrival of the king and his entourage. Page boys were young sons of lesser princes and nobles who served as errand boys in the palace.
- Achala (不动明王) is know as Eternal Dhamma Protector. It possesses extremely powerful mantra. It serves as an assistant of Buddha to protect Buddhism. Hence it is also called an executioner.
