This is a purpose built pistol primarily for hunting. Several states require at least a 6” barrel to hunt game animals with. Before you had to buy the gun and then buy a 6” replacement barrel to meet the requirements. This is ready to go out of the box.
In fact, Glock called the Glock 40 the "Hunter" when they introduced it
I think the six inch is also a hunting set-up. 10mm can be used for taking meat if handgun hunting is your thing.

I have the g34 3rd Gen, and I absolutely love it. Yes, it is nearly impossible to hide printing when concealing it, but what a fun gun to play around with at the range. I was considering buying the g40 to somewhat match the g34
I have a couple of G34s and a couple of the G40s and even though among the 9mm Glocks, the G34 stands out for its size (slide longer than the G17 etc), the G40 is significantly larger/thicker than the G34. The G40 also has a full 6.03" barrel.
I think I chose well with the 43x. It's proprietary enough to share magazine commonality with very few.
This was my first gun.I get all kinds of strange looks at the range I may have a mental issue because it's my 1st gun...I love it , never ever going to give it up! this firearm can knock down anything in north america bar none..I use 40S&W for the range only because of price but,overall I love this beast..
The sticker is actually on the bottom of the case. Also the 10mm cartridge is smaller in Diameter than the .45 thus the 10mm has a larger capacity. Except for what it is, which is what it is? That statement applies to anything including the Chauchat. My Gen 4 did come with the four plates that really shouldn't be used anyway but the sights were not adjustable. It seems there are a variety of configurations. I do not need to reset trigger to reassemble mine are you sure yours has to be reset? The slide is actually only an ounce or so heavier than the G20 slide it's just long and narrow. That's why it can use the same recoil spring set-up as the G20.

Great bear/mL gun, I have one! Changed to an Alpha Wolf barrel, McNally trigger assembly, and Ameriglo suppressor height sights are a must. Top notch field gun with those mods!
Love my g20L with a 6in barrel, its discontinued so ill be buying one of these and safe queening my g20L

I just picked up a Glock 20 Gen 5 and can't wait to shoot it. Can I/should I shoot .40 out of the 10mm? There are a lot of reviews saying you can and about as many saying not to. 🤷🏻♂️??
Yes but clean the chamber when you go back to 10mm after 40s&w
The difference is in mms and it will build up gun powder residue making it not fully chamber a 10mm cartridge.
Ref: over a decade with a 10mm glock, been running 40sw for range ammo for most of that.
Now i run 10mm but that cause its the same price as 40 in my area

This looked like a 17L in the thumbnail. The 40 has a 6 inch barrel? I was thinking that it was like the 41 and more 34 length. Now I definitely want to get one. Why? Because it’s a 16 shot 10mm with a 6 inch barrel. It’s huge, yet oddly practical (especially in bear country). Or, what you need when you’re going to back Frank Castle against Kingpin.
17L and the 24 have a squared front slide I think.

IT IS NOT A COMPETITION PISTOL BECAUSE THE ACCURACY LACKS AFTER 25 YARDS. THE BARREL IS NOT RIFLED. HOWEVER, WITH A KKM PRECISION BARREL, IT IS A COMPETICIAN PISTOL. THE KKM HAS A BUTTON RIFLED BARREL AND IS PRECISION MACHINED. SHOOTS WAY OUT WITH GREAT ACCURACY. I KEEP BOTH BARRELS AS THE GLOCK IS MADE TO EAT ANY LOAD, THE KKM IS EXCELLENT BUT MIGHT NOT EAT EVERYTHING. BEAR COUNTRY THE GLOCK BARREL, DEER HUNTING THE KKM PRECISION.

I just bought one of these and 4 MOS adapter plates came with the gun and 3 mags. I bought it as a bear and hunting gun for camping/hiking.
I think I am going to buy a 10mm conversion barrel for my G41 to save money from buying a new G40 ... 😊
Literally every glock I own are mos gen 4 and they all came with plates, back straps, and 3 mags. Including my glock 40 mos so idk what your taking about saying gen 4s don’t come with any of that.
Thats my backpacking pistol. This is a very common carry gun in Alaska for dangerous animal protection. My channel got popular(ish) because of this gun

I got mine on 07/06/2022 shot 100 rounds through it at the range few days ago and everything went good no issues at all. Before i consider upgrading anything other than sights i dm going to try and put a total of 1K rounds through it.
I EDC mine and i dont notice any printing unless i bend down to pick something up other than i am goid and love it
I have a glock 20 in 10mm. It's my hunting, camping, hiking companion. My favorite 10mm, is my springfield range officer elite. Absolutely love that gun.
The glock 40 mos is my first hand gun had it for less than a year now! It is a Beast but,I love it and never get rid of it...

Love my g40 mos I got a vortex venom on top with a Streamlight tlr-1hl underneath, rock underwood 135 grain for two legged predators and underwood 200 grain hardcast for four legged predators. It’s a fun gun to shoot.
My set up is identical. I also use the one sixty five grain 44 legged threats along with the two hundred grain hardcast.
Mine has metal sights and it came with optic plates . I have 5 ten MMs . Glock 40 Glock 20 sig X10 Springfield XDM Elite and the Smith 2.0
They have a the words worst trigger…I put a timney trigger in mine ( the trigger safety didn’t function). I sent it back in Glock put the factory trigger back in. Props to Glock for fast customer service.
The author of this video didn't do much homework. He says the G40 doesn't come with any base plates for optics, when in fact it comes from the factory with 4 different base plates. He had totally forgotten that he had bought a USED gun, not a new one.

Wait. So… could you buy a longer barrel from a Glock like the 40 and use it in like the Glock 29 that’s a 10mm? I mean if it went in… there would be a lot of barrel sticking out the G29… but… would it fire? 🤔

I am very fond of 10mm's I have a Glock 40 with a Bar-Sto barrel. I prefer the fully supported chammber and regular rifling. Mine came with a set of 4 MOS adaptor plates, I wonder why yours didn't my case was also slightly larger, so we seem to have gotten slightly different versions.
The Glock 40 DOES come with the optics mounting plates. I have 2 of them, purchased brand-new and both of them certainly had them in the box. You bought your G40 used, and the prior owner did not include them when he sold it.

The longer barrel does serve a purpose,it’s a hunting handgun,the longer barrel increases bullet velocity and accuracy..
I heard that Glock just discontinued 9mm & .40 calibers double stack in the gen 4 only.

Mine came with a complete kit for the MOS all adapters and longer screws & wrenches all you need is an optic & blue locktite..and 3 magazines came with it... I love this thing!
