I'm not sure the configurations you mean, but i'll explain it to you a bit. So the Configurations of trucks are basically the number of wheels alongside with the number of wheels that are powered. Example: 4x2. 4 means 4 wheels, and 2 means there are 2 wheels connected to the engine. In 6x2 or higher, configurations are varies in order to improve traction or turning. Example: 6x2/4. 6 means 6 wheels, 2 means 2 wheels connected to the engine, and 4 means there are 4 wheels that are steerable. The "/" indicates that the second steerable axle is placed infront of the powered axle. The "*" indicated that the second steerable axle is placed behind the powered axle. But this configuration is not available yet in ToE3. Midlifts and Taglifts are basically the wheels that are not powered are raised in order to improve fuel economy.
I use 6x4 chassis in my Scania R 2004, I can carry anything I want up to 40 Ton cargo. And fuel economy is great.
