Bain of my sodding existence is that crossing. Between random acts of vandalism, lorries wiping out the height restrictor barrier and the threats of violence I often get when attending them, I’d be more than happy to see it closed permanently. But as it’s one of only two ways into North Motherwell, that will likely never happen. Also, the way it is set up with the road lights makes it very tricky to trace faults on due to it being non-standard.
I remember walking past that crossing every day from school and a lot of high school kids would always jump over the gates it made me so mad and I even remember walking up the crossing to see the damage the b&n lorry had done that crossing is my childhood crossing
There's no need for them, since it's within a signalled junction which stops the traffic before the barriers close. It could do with pedestrian signals though, which are mandatory for pedestrians, rather than just alarms, which are only a warning.
@@southcalder: Would there be a reason why you couldn't have the wig-wags in addition to the standard traffic lights? I think there's a crossing* with that type of set up (where the normal traffic lights are also linked with the crossing so that they turn red a few seconds before the wig-wags start flashing.) The traffic lights are like the signals for this one!
Great Video. Some people out there have a Death wish running over the crossing when the alarms sounding.

Quite an interesting crossing!
Excellent video.
3:50 RED LIGHT HELLO
What's the point in having Lights there? No cars can cross the crossing anyway
The traffic signals are for the junction just beyond the crossing.
When I got to that crossing back in April, I was shocked to see no wigwags.

naughty kid jump lights
Guy runs a red light. 😂
This crossing should do with proper wigwags
Can’t have wig wags because of the T-junction immediately on the Up side.
