    I'm still in the middle of the video but I had to pause and say thanks! This is one of the most relevant IL-2 videos I have ever watched (believe me, I'm following a huge list of IL-2 channels). I'm really enjoying your style. Very nice work, cheers from Brazil!

    A video for the fundamentals today. If you are more experienced player you may want to skip BUT if you want to help out, feel free to watch and leave any tips below that I may have forgotten. I wanted to make this video because so many new players seem lost lately due to Finnish server being on Moscow. This subject has been covered a lot but I wanted to spend some time explaining the objectives and what they looked like so it was abundantly clear of what your destinations should look like. I would recommend watching the other videos I linked in the description to round out the entire subject. Requiem in particular goes over how the radio beacons work, I did not want to cover the same thing that they covered as their videos were more than adequate, I just wanted to tailor one for Finnish server.

    One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that the maps were definitely made for an air sim and not for tanks. I have noticed that smaller tree patches may not be visible on the map and may throw you off as a tanker. Using roads, rivers, towns and BIG forests are the best land marks to use.

    Nicely done! Love your videos as always. A little tip for newer players that i would add is to find friends to fly with. It's a lot easier to navigate if more than 1 person is looking for landmarks, and can even guide the new person to understand where the are at "look at this forest shape to the north, we are in xxxx"

      Thanks - Finding people to play with is the most important tip and thing to try to learn. Instead of trying to tackle the steep learning curve on your own, you can do it with people who have already done the climb. It's the single best tip that trumps all the others.

    For long distances with the heading tool (>70km say), you'll most likely need to make corrections even if you are perfectly on course the entire time. The reason is that the wind will blow your airplane off course. The real omega-brain move would be to take wind speed and direction into consideration when computing your actual heading, although I don't think there's a tool out there that does that.

      I am alpha brain and sadly not omega brain. This is why I try to put visual checkpoints along the way (Like the airport example i used) to validate the path as you keep going. Thx for making this note.

      I like to use this website for wind calculations… magnetic correction not included in the game so can ignore.
      Especially on high altitude long range bomb runs it helps arrive accurate on target.
      By that way I like to mix flight simulator with combat 😅

    Well done! I didn't realize the load out variations for the different air fields.

      It is SUPER important. If you are doing factory defense and you only see a20s then you know they came from a rear airfield. So then you can adjust your patrol to intercept them from their rear airfield and the factory you are protecting.

    Outstanding video! I’m a noob and have been flying off dead reckoning and visual clues this whole time. Luckily I haven’t been doing to bad but this helped a lot, thanks!

    Great video! I have a question; is the flight mapping tool still operational? When I go to the main site for FVP I see the current situation, but a lot of the links shown at 10:29 are not there. I dont see the little airplane icon to start the planning process. Have tried different browsers and settings but its just not an option for me. Anyone else get this?

      I changed the links in the description. The site used in the video is now defunct but someone made a new one it can be found here: www.il2flightplanner.com/

    Very good video. I'm new and have been practicing navigation. After the mission is over is there a tool to show me where I actually flew (like tac view on the map)?

    • @Enigma89
      @Enigma89  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use tacview for il2 so not sure. I think it would only save your position and not everyone else's. Someone made a hack that was reliant on tacview so several servers turned it off. Plz consider subscribing and checking out the other videos ✌

      Yes, there is. When you click "Finish Mission" and "Accept", the very next screen has a button called "Events Log". That opens a map with your actual track shown as a bright green line, with dots every 20 seconds or so. Hover the cursor over the dots for precise time and altitude. There are also little icons showing where people crashed and targets were destroyed. Super useful for self-debriefing!
      (EDIT: It usually can't keep up with all the manoeuvres in a fast turning engagement!)

    Also, interesting note about the flag pole! I thought you had to touch it with your tank to raise the flag! Good to know that you don't.

    Literally just started flying in IL2. Was extremely overwhelmed by the multi-player. The biggest thing I kept running into was the lack of ability to communicate positions with team. There's no in game voip, no team map markers, no labels of any sort. How do you play in a team setting when the game offers little tools to do so?

    • @LordThranduil234
      @LordThranduil234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's really too bad that there's no In-game voip, I think it could add a lot to the multiplayer experience. There is a discord server for Finnish but I haven't really encountered anyone in there yet.

    • @jimallison117
      @jimallison117 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a few options to communicate (search IL-2 forum for details):
      - SRS for IL-2 (not SRS for DCS)
      - Discord
      - TeamSpeak
      - In-game chat (press Cntl+Enter to message your team, not Enter, which messages everyone)

    • @Enigma89
      @Enigma89  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would recommend to find a group to play with. You can use the Finnish discord for that, most groups play in small and organized groups and in their private discords.

    How is it for newbies on this server? And can you make a video about making an coop server?

    • @Enigma89
      @Enigma89  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I do not play coop at all so I do not know how to do that. I would ask the il2 forums. This server is noob friendly. I have several videos that break down all the mechanics so as you get questions look for the videos here and you should be able to learn.
