Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has announced plans to draft a resolution in response to the US House of Representatives' recent resolution on Pakistani elections. Speaking during a National Assembly session chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Dar addressed the concerns raised by the US resolution, which called for impartial investigations into allegations of irregularities and interference in Pakistan's general elections held on 8 February.
Dar stated, "The Foreign Office has responded effectively to the US House resolution, and we will bring forward our own resolution. The draft is ready, and we have taken notice of the US resolution and will surely respond." The US House resolution, passed with a significant majority, called for a neutral investigation into the reported irregularities and interference in Pakistan's elections.
Additionally, Dar extended an invitation to the opposition for cooperation on a constitutional amendment to grant voting rights to overseas Pakistanis. He emphasized his readiness to discuss the issue, stating, "I am ready to discuss giving voting rights to overseas Pakistanis." This move highlights the government's commitment to addressing key electoral concerns and ensuring the inclusion of overseas Pakistanis in the electoral process.
