  • 2012 - 2019 model Vauxhall Mokka X Review. In our latest Mokk-umentary chortle Howard Ritchie explores the all new Vauxhall/Opel Mokka X 1.6 CDTi, to find out if the critics are being fair.
Largely under-rated by the likes of WhatCar and Auto Express, we wondered how bad it can really be particularly when the price is taken into consideration. We even theorise whether Albert Einstein would drive this car...

Absolutely love your review! Thank you so much-I just bough this car today and started doubting after reading some reviews. But you’ve made me confident in my purchase again!

Love my Mokka Turbo. Never had an issue and had it 7 years now (was 2nd hand too). It's a great responsive drive.

We have one in the same colour but in auto petrol. In the town it’s a bit thirsty but on the motorway it gets 50mpg. We traded it a Lexus ct200 for the mokka, the Lexus was a nightmare to get in & out of, as you say the Mokka is simple and more comfortable.
Nice review apart from your wrong saying the car is a Vauxhall only in England, it’s also a Vauxhall in Scotland, Wales & North Ireland.

Ive had the Moka x 1.4.turbo elite for nearing 3 yrs.and ive had no problems since i had to change over from a diesel to a ptroll model.
My reason for changing was that im a low mileage driver, and it dosen't suit having a diesel; as it blocks up the system, therfore causing problems and a replacement turbo system.?
My only other complaint afout the car, ix that from day one, the mpg.is only 32 miles to the gallon, and never differs from that. Overall the car handles well and holds the road well also. Good little car.👍

Is your mokka x an auto or a manual?

Change the exhaust to a stainless exhaust with less back flow. After a journey put your hands on the centre of the wheels and check for heat. If there's heat then your brakes are binding, maybe even a sticking calliper. I also have 1.4 4x4 and average about 37mpg around town and 45/47 on long motorway or b road journeys.

Took out a Mokka x out for a test drive last week. Very nice. Good to look at, smart modern cabin and good driving position. I have opted for the Grandland x though. Just a bit bigger.

Enjoyed this review. I’m going to pick up my mokka X griffin this morning and I can’t wait!! It has lumber support which I’m very happy with.

Had mine from new (1.4T 4x4) for 10 years. Very comfortable to drive, love the heated steering wheel and easy proper buttons controlled infotainment. Yes, it has it's annoying bits but so does 100 grand Mercedes 😂
Spent less than £1000 on it and still looks like new. Planning to have it untill it runs out of spares 🤞

This is so not my type of car and I would never buy one. But whilst my fast BMW is in for fetttling, I've hired a car and it's one of these and I really like it.i do get to drive loads of this type of car fof work but only get to run them around the main roads and motorways, where they kind of leave me cold. This one though has just been around town for the last three days and it's perfect, especially in the current nasty weather. I particularly and surprisingly like the quality of the interior, j usually hate Vauxhall interiors. Telling a friend about his last night and I referred to it as a petrol heads dirty little secret . I shouldn't like it but I do :)

I have a mokka had it for 8 years when i bought it from heaven's it had 48000 miles its q 1.7tdi in orange. I still got this car and for all the years i had it .. lats week it failed its M.O.T on a front driver side spring ... now all sorted . 👍
Would i get another mokka yes would i get a diesel definitely
The only thing i would change i would get the 4x4 next time
    I don't care what critic's say
    I like the mokka.
My advise to enyone look drive if you don't like it ..don't get one simple 😊

Being 6.2" i must say I loooove this car. The narrow middle section between the front deats make this car a dreamcar to drive for people like me with long legs. We bought the 4x4 Mokka X 2017 Turbo modell. Yes there is road noise...but that is also the only thing i do not like about this car. It handles extremely well on the roads and blindzone view is easy. What I would change is that there is only one rear fog light and one fog-reflector on the other rear side. Reason being people blinks lights at me from behind thinking i got a broken tail light. I mean...whats up with the 1 light??? 🤔 It loves gasoline though. 1 tank is about 48 litres and will take you about 240km at normal driving before refil needed.

Vauxhall are smashing it with the styling and the value for money. My only worry is which corners have they cut. Last time i owned a vauxhall it had a Fiat gearbox which ate itself. A weak, Italian box in a car meant to soak up miles was an absurd design decision. I hope they have learnt the error of their ways.

The plastic trim panels which line the boot are so flimsy they constantly rattle. The access panels to the rear bulbs have tiny clips which WILL break (not might break, WILL break) when you remove the panel for bulb access, which means they rattle as well.

Desperate to get this colour in the Griffin. The flat colours are now being shunned for this 2-tone, 2-coat job, and the Griffin is basically bundled as a standard Mokka X but with sat nav and heated half-leathers. Now had 5 Mokkas and similar price alternatives just don't do it for me.
If they did this with heated rear seats and/or a USB power outlet by the rear view mirror for a dashcam, they'd trounce their competitors. No question.

I went into my local Starbucks (Errr... Other coffee shops are available!) and ordered a Vauxhall Mokka X for a laugh and... I ended up with a rather strange, yellowish looking cup of something that resembled a hotchpotch of coffee and tea mixed together. It wasn't very tasteful to be honest. A bit flat too. Totally forgettable. Though it was cheapish 🙁😞
However, the bloke behind the counter (His name was Howard. Rather spookie... Don't cha think?) was really good at his job and very funny too. Wore a red top!! He even said that if I went to a Starbucks in the USA or other countries, the Mokka would be called something... Completely different... 🤔

I hate these cute Ute women cash grab vehicles. Sad. They sell quite well which is even sadder. The lesson is lifted hatchbacks with a price premium, sell.
