- Kanoon Ki Pathshala:- THE PROHIBITION OF CHILD MARRIAGE ACT, 2006: The primary object of the Act is to prohibit solemnization of child marriage. This Act is armed with enabling provisions to prohibit child marriages and provide relief to victims and enhance punishment for those who abet, promote or solemnise such marriages. As per the act, the age of marriage for boys is 21, and for girls, it is 18, and any marriage of people below this age will be considered as a child marriage which is illegal, an offence and is punishable under the law.

PREVENTION OF CHILD MARRIAGE
Childhood is a period of joy, happiness and growth. Its a period of learning new things and shaping the mindset of the children but unfortunately they are being trapped in the net of child marriage . Child marriage is a curse that ruins the childhood of children , its a sign of force , poverty , myths , abuse etc to a child because this hit the mindset of the children very hard .
As per the global data of child marriage in the world , India stands second in the matters of most number of child marriage in the world which is unfortunate for a democratic country . India counts number of child marriages in a year thats why it always come up with some way to get rid of this stigma. India had framed a law in 1928 ie prevention of child marriage act which made child marriage of illegal if the married girl is less than 15 years of age and boy less than 18 years of age. Well the law amended in 1978 and extended the minimum age of girl child to 18 and 21 years for boys . Well 18 years is the actual age at which a person persue basic education and thus the new amendment has put widen the smiles of many. Apart this , india also made a post of child marriage prevention officers to take action against child marriage and spread awareness of against it.
Unfortunately, india is still struggling to get rid of this and thus it is sure that of we really want to remove the stigma of child marriage in india than we have to do something more than that .
First providing basic education to children on compulsory basis and for this India need to strictly improve its education system .
Second to eliminate poverty because this is the main reason of child marriage as well as girls child deaths as well.
Third is awareness among people regarding the minus points of child marriage and how it badly effect the physical and mental growth of a child especially women .
Forth is a strict action aginst those who involved in this especially the parents who are indulge in .
Fifth , we must have a kind of law that don't discriminate poor from rich because its the condition that drags them to get their child to marry especially girl child and the reason why the Bihar govt is trying to make education free for girl child and scholarship of Rs 25000 if passed class 12th and Rs 50000 if taken graduation degree. This is a way by which the govt of buhar wants to stop child marriage of girl child but the actual need of the hour is to improve education and rather than mere focussing on degree there should be focus on education because this is the game changer.
