Animation titans Paul Tibbitt ("The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water") and Pam Brady ("South Park") team up for an incredible coming-of-age story starring Lana Condor ("To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before") as Ruby - a teenage girl embarrassed of her sea monster family who covertly live alongside humans. Everything is threatened when a mermaid arrives to their seaside town attempting to reignite a feud between the marine creatures.

Ruby, her mom and grandma destroy the Trident of Oceanus in order to stop Nerissa and thus changing her back into her normal Chelsea form permanently. Ruby considers this a far better fate than having Grandmamah outright vaporize her as she can't transform back into a monster without the Trident's power, leaving her stuck in her Chelsea form forever and with her reputation ruined.
It's absurd, however, that they spoiled everything in the trailer. I didn't expect something like this from 'Dreamworks'.
