Still playing MWR in 2024 on PS5 now. Sick of MW3 and for the time until BO6 release, me and my friends play MWR again S&D and have lots of fun! I totally agree that there was NO need to add extra sh!t to MWR. The game was good as it was. No need for extra guns and sh!t that were not in the OG. But even besides things like that, MWR is still better than any new cod.
I found my old infinite warfare disk yesterday, I had completely forgotten that it had modern warfare on it, I popped it in my series X and was surprised when I saw 2 downloads, canceled the infinite warfare download and downloaded Modern Warfare and the 90gb update that came with it, and I love it.

It’s ridiculous they are not remastering all the old games smh… I will not return to the franchise until they do. We need MW3, BO2, and MW2 which I never got the chance to play. Even BO1 remaster would be nice but it’s not on the level of BO2 online wise.
Love this game! Didn’t play the original back in the day because I was so hooked to Halo 3 but bought MWR when it released and it instantly became one of my favorite FPS games. Can’t believe it’s already been 8 years 😬

The mods on PC CoD 4 make it the best in a lot of ways. AI for when players are low, gungame servers, servers with more killstreaks than the vanilla 3, even an entire STAR WARS mod that's so professional I could've sworn it was ripped from a real game, but no it's all fan made. You are right though a lot of servers tend to have way higher player counts than are advisable. This can be fun in a crazy chaos kind of way, feel like a real war, but on the other hand it can also be way too chaotic with many spawn deaths and random kills/deaths from every corner. It has its advantages and disadvantages. But there are still a lot of normal servers too. Plus on PC you get to chat with other players by typing. Not to mention a server browser and custom FOV.
I just recently returned to playing Cod4 MW remastered on my Xbox SX, here's my honest opinion playing multiplayer in 2024, besides TDM the rest of the other game modes like Domination, Headquarters etc are very lackluster as far as available servers are concerned as those games modes have 0/0 lobbies during search criteria which makes it impossible to earn Depot tokens in-game. Objective game modes earns you more Depot tokens to spend in the Depot than TDM.
I know I’m the odd man out with this opinion but I LOVE that they added more guns, I wish this would have got support longer. The maps being sold again was fucking nasty…. They should have been on the game when it released
Adding weapons was needed for this game, and alot of people asked for it to make the game more active. If it pissed you off then womp womp, it makes the game more fun as you can work towards something
What I love is the fact that you can play with bots, because now that the game is pretty dead on console, I can still enjoy the game by playing with the bots.
by far my favourite cod ever released just because it wasnt spomgey there was no skill based mm or very little and also they added new weapons that were perfectly balanced and could easily be earned without getting the wallet out. its a shame to see how bad cod is now but it will not change due to the vast amount of kids playing warzone. atleast people still play this gem unfortunatley the game mode is limited to tdm pretty much would love to see dom occasionally

Since they didn’t bring back the most ultimate NoobTube for MW3… The XM25… I refuse to purchase this game and constantly live in a state of subtle depression….that gun help me get ranked to #2 for defends in Domination, I was grinding at one point and had also made the top 10 for Domination….Xbox360, But, the XM25 doesn’t cap flags… it defends them… I can hit all three flags from one standing point on terminal… believe me… anything WAS possible with the XM25… I still keep the elite menu screen shot, that kept track of my secondary kills, as my Google profile pic for over decade!!! And those bastards didn’t bring back my Baby for the 2023 release… 😩🥺😭
There is not a lot people left and most of them are campers but yeah if you play tdm, domination, search and destroy or hardcore tdm you will find a lobby but prepare yourself to face the same people over and over again.

Yes you can play with PS4 as the PS5 version is just the PS4 version through backwards compatibility. And the player counts are still high. You can find matches easy every day of the week, pretty much any time of day.

MWR on PC also has a huge issue with cheaters, not having an anti-cheat really helped with that.

No, not for MWR. They automatically put you in regular non DLC lobbies if DLC lobbies can't be found.
