    This is the very beginning of computers! (From weaving cards to the Internet.)
    I loved James Burke's program "Connections" - saw it on PBS and it should be
    run again.

      I just bought the series on DVD for like $25 on eBay. Epic show; i remember seeing it more than 20 years ago and I've raved about it ever since. Nice double-header with the original COSMOS.

    I like how humans apparently hate weaving so much that we basically continuously made the process more and more automated over the course of tens of thousands of years until looms finally became fully programmable in the 1700s.
    We sorta slowly and accidentally made a computer, just so we didn't have to weave anymore.
