LOL! I love that your first big purchase was a stand mixer. I remember I told myself that I'd get a designer bag when I got my first big major promotion. Once I got there I felt silly and instead bought a Blendtec blender. Best decision ever!!! haha
I told my self no big purchases until I’m debt free, and it’s keeping me motivated because I really really want an Oculus Quest. Tomorrow I’ll be paying off my car and the rest of my debt should be gone next July. Thanks for being a huge motivation, congratulations again on being debt free.
“I’m in a mood, I just got my lashes refilled so I’m feeling good, and I feel like I deserve it” This is how I got myself in to debt in the first place!
Katelynn DaSilva right?! A bag that will be out of style in the next season anyway. I know we all value things differently, but $2000 for a handbag is just frivolous.
Quest to FIRE Like you said, we all value different things. If you can easily afford something you love, it’s totally fair game. Frugality is worth it because you spend money on what you really want!
I’ve made $36,000 with $3,000 investment, because I had good guidance with @Carlos_1uptrades on IG. with his teachings and trading skills, I’ve had nothing but continued success indeed it’s beyond eye opening
Girl, I had the same mentality. I told myself my first purchase after becoming debt free was a handbag (Chanel or YSL). While I was working on paying off my debt I developed or was in process of trying to live a minimalistic lifestyle. So! I sold ALL my 18 handbags (except for 2 which I felt I use often). And I returned all the stuff I got as wedding gifts that I didn’t use bc it’s was pretty and fancy, but I didn’t use them at all and it took up estate space (another thing I learned in becoming minimalistic). I RETURNED MY MIXER STAND. :( I wanted to keep it so bad, but I only used it to make mash potatoes lol. I’m glad I did bc it took up counter space and I barely used it. So what did I buy for my first debt free present to myself? A Nespresso coffee maker kit with milk foam maker 🤓🙈😝. Btw you have 90 days to return the mixer at BBB 😉
Omg this is so cute, remember when Aja bought herself a cake to celebrate paying off her loan?? Now she BAKED her own cake to celebrate paying off everything
Just wanted to say Aja, that considering how much you make and that youre DEBT FREE, you totally couldve bought the mixer and a super expensive purse. Your ability to still make controlled purchases shows youre a TRUE WINNER with money! Congrats! You totally deserve this
I think it might take me a couple years to be comfortable paying for a designer purse. To me, just seems kinda silly to spend all that money on a purse.
I love my kitchen aid stand mixer! Since I don’t bake a lot, I try to find other ways to use it. My fav at the moment is for shredding chicken. Put chicken breast in the crockpot on high for 4 hours or low for 7-8 hours until it’s tender. Then put in your mixer and mix on low until it’s shredded (less than a minute). It shreds it pretty fine so if you’re wanting larger chunks you may stick with shredding with forks. It’s saved me so much time!!
Low key I have never related so hard to someone on youtube. I love that you chose something that you've always wanted instead of going the route of a hand bag. Mixers like this are super useful and totally worth the investment. So excited for you and can't wait to watch your cooking videos!
Congratulations on the Kitchen Aid purchase! I have loved mine over the years & now have the deluxe hand mixer and 5 and 3.5 & stand mixers. One of the best things about your purchase is that you have wanted it so long before pulling the trigger, you will totally appreciate it much more! I have been meaning to make Ina's chocolate cake for so long, I'm gonna make it this weekend for sure.
I wanted one for so long also, and bought one a year and a half ago, mine is a bit bigger than yours, but I absolutely love it. Enjoy your freedom, you literally inspired me and I only have two to go. Thank you
OMG I've wanted a stand mixer FOREVER, I remember when I was registering for our wedding I was praying someone would get me the mixer. It's such a status symbol lol. Enjoy your mixer and rolling pin! You deserve it.
I've had that same mixer for 30 years! It's still going strong, and I love it! Be sure to read the instructions when you get it. I think you're supposed to calibrate the thing where you attach the whisk or dough hook to be sure it's in the right position in relation to the bowl. Yes, you NEED a mixer!
Fleur I just started using rakuten last month and can't believe I've been buying things online my whole adult life without it!! Already got $50 from referrals and $30 back from purchases!
You go girl!!!!!!!!! I had that same goal to get my Kitchen Aid mixer and now I’m sooo happy everytine I want to make bread or whipped cream 💛 enjoy it!
Yeay!!! I'm glad you got yourself the stand mixer. I think it'll bring more joy in the long run compared to the handbag. Good on you for gifting that to yourself now that you're debt free 💖
I just stumbled onto this video and your channel. The look of pure joy on your face when you opened the mixer makes the journey so worth it. I don't know you, but I'm proud of you!! I just paid my last/student loan off in September. It's been so liberating! Sky is the limit from here
I have a picture of my husband hugging his KitchenAid the same way you did when he got one for his birthday 😂 I feel like that's the universal response LOL
It’s absolutely endearing that you chose the mixer over a luxury bag. I keep saying I’m buying myself a Cuban link chain when I get debt free.. watch I just set a savings goal instead🤦🏾♀️😂
I’m really so happy for you!! You getting a stand mixer is absolute gold!! I’ve always wanted one as well ever since I was a little girl! I would love to see you make baking videos of you following recipes and see how they turn out!
1.) Ina and Jeffrey are GOALS 2.) THE FIRST THING I BOUGHT WHEN I BECAME DEBT FREE WAS A KITCHENAID STAND MIXER!!! It’s too big for my kitchen but I adore it.
Omg! I love it! That is a purchase I've always wanted to make but haven't been able to bring myself to spend the money! So happy for you and you definitely deserve it! I'm still working on my debt so I'll get there soon enough! ❤
Oh my god, I got so excited when you said stand mixer! I've always wanted one and I still can't afford to get it, especially with my car note and my student loans that I'll have to start chipping away at soon. I'm dreaming of the day where that'll be me, but right now I'm living through you ♥
THIS IS NUMBER ONE ON MY LIST WHEN I AM DEBT FREE!!! That’s hilarious. I also love the Great British Baking Show!!! Also, a Vitamix, and a Dyson rechargeable vacuum.
Excuse me as I get distracted by your adorable pup propping his little head on the cushion. Okay, back to the video...Good for you Aja! You deserve this happy moment and you'll benefit from it with many tasty treats you'll make with that KitchenAid! I'm so sure you'll get your moneys worth with this magical kitchen gadget!
Such a great choice! Any kitchen appliance is worth it when you love to bake and cook! For me, when I become debt free I would book a trip overseas and travel! That’s the one thing that I love to do!
oh my goodness, just the way your face lit up when you opened the door and the box! you could hear the joy in your voice, congratulations!!!!! and thats damn right, you deserved it :)
OMG me too! I've been dreaming of a stand mixer from KitchenAid for at least the past 10 years. I love baking and have used a hand mixer because the KitchenAid stand mixer is so expensive. Last year in October, I saw a huge sale for these mixers and finally bought my first one!! Honestly, it feels extremely rewarding and makes baking so much easier. I used to make apple pies (crust and filling) from scratch. Using a hand mixer, it was like a workout. With the stand mixer, it makes things a lot easier. Hope you enjoy your first stand mixer as much as I do! P.S. You're really awesome and inspiring!
Wow, you remind me of me when I was paying my new car off in 1 1/2 yrs. I questioned every purchase that was not a "need". Once I paid if off that way of thinking never went away. Congrats on your purchase, it is well deserved!
T Simpson That thinking went away when she purchased her mixer. Is a mixer really a need? She did without one for two years. If you can do without for a number of days let alone years, it is not a need.
Congrats girl!!! I've negotiated at stores to give me the discounts I would have gotten off the rebates on rakuten. All you have to do is ask! I even told my now husband when he purchased my engagement ring, he had better used a coupon and negotiated the price😂. Working on our debt free journey paying off my student loans! So far paid off two cars!
I love that your values have changed and you now want a stand mixer. I am debt free, and still haven't purchased my stand mixer yet. I love the kitchen aid stand mixer as well.
Congratulations!!! It's beautiful!! I got my stand mixer as a gift from my most favorite person on the entire planet, the person who taught me how to bake at a young age, my Grammy... and it felt amazing, but I can imagine this felt even more amazing knowing that you purchased it on your own, DEBT FREEEEE!!! So awesome!! What a treat!! Enjoy it so much! There are a few attachments you can treat yourself too, in the future. Your possibilities are limitless! :)
I love that your first big debt free purchase is something that you can do. Of course you can use a purse, but it doesn't do anything like the kitchen aide does!! Nice work Aja!! 🎂
I'm sure when you feel the time is right, you will (and you should) still treat yourself to that designer bag but what an amazing first purchase this was. And you used it to make a celebratory cake! Gift that keeps on giving! So amazing! Congrats Aja! xo
This is so perfect! Congrats and many happy uses. Years ago I got mine and love it. I had a coupon, a discount, and a special offer. I got it for under a hundred and did a happy dance!
I’ve followed your journey and I’m so proud of you! We paid off our student loans last year and have a little left on our credit card and then we are done too! I love that this was your status purchase!!! Enjoy 🥰
Lauren Ashley Or Congrats to her! And yet it’s a bit stupid to buy stuff after all the loans are paid. Is she saving for investments or is she just off on buying things in a shopping spree?
Congratulations!!! A Kitchenaid Stand Mixer is totally kitchen goals! It totally makes sense that you'd buy something useful yet also a "big ticket" item!!
Ahh I am so happy for you! Baking is one of my true joys in life, mainly because of the treats that result from it, and having appliances like stand mixers make the whole process far less tiring, and of course, quicker!

Wow. I'm so proud of you. I'm just about to begin my debt free journey today. It's a very daunting task in these beginning stages but I'm determined. A little over $10,000 left on my car, $16,911 left on student loans, and around $5,000 worth of medical & misc debts. It's still in a manageable phase, so I'm determined to put any and all extra income towards knocking it down. Your journey has been very inspirational.
So happy for you! You had the biggest smile. You were so excited for and to use the mixer, that was the best purchase for the moment. Handbag later. As long as you can handle it buy what you would like - everyone uses fun money differently. #handbagenthusiast #moneyconscious
Love your decision! Next purchase needs to be the Kitchenaid flex edge beater attachment. It scrapes the sides of the bowl while it blends! They also have a spiralizer attachment with multiple blades. Happy Baking/Cooking, Aja!
@@AjaDang Yes...an attachment for every need. Lol The flex edge beater is so handy and saves time. Omg!!! Why are we the same. 1. Ina is the GOAT and 2. My bf bought me a stand mixer for my bday and it was such a magical moment. It's beautiful and kitchen items make my heart so happy!!! Lol!!!
Great purchase!! My Kitchenaid mixer is one of my favorite things I own. Hubs bought it for me for Christmas the year our daughter was born (5 years ago) so she and I could bake together like my mom and I always did. Today we made a Thanksgiving cheesecake together. It's been part of sooo many great memories!
Omg I couldn't stop smiling at this!! Congrats on your first big purchase! Always wanted one too!! BTW, not sure if it's still on but saw that these were on sale on rollback for 199 on Walmart's website! Loving these debt free videos - make me so happy to see you and this whole journey :))
I love how you rock the mixer like a baby. Congrats, I’m new to your channel binge watching now. Your an inspiration to people indebt and not sure where to start. Thank you for the shares.
Omg I love this! My mama and I used to watch Ina together and now she always talks about making dinner for Jeffrey just like Ina. 🤣 she loved Sandra Lee as well “cause she always does a cocktail. “ thanks for always being so inspiring!
we have also purchased a kitchen aid stand mixer about 1,5 years ago and I gotta say that it was a great purchase :) I personally do really enjoy baking and since we got this I do it way more cause it makes the process so much easier :) I love this thing :D so I´d say that this is an excellent purchase :)
Yes, girl!! I love my mixer. I remember I was walking through Target and saw it on clearance for $150ish. At the time I had never spent so much money on myself so I walked through Target trying to convince myself I didn't need it and that I would come back later if I changed my mind. My mom was with me like "If you want it, buy it. It won't be here later." Was such a good choice.
this is so DANG random, Aja. 😂 long time viewer here, and i had no idea you loved to bake enough to make a fancy $700 mixer, but i love that you chose it over a designer bag. *I,* on the other hand, would've bought a YSL, lol.
My favorite use for a stand mixer is homemade pasta! You can get attachments that make rolling out and cutting the dough super easy. It's a really satisfying process.

Hubs bought it for me for Christmas the year our daughter was born (5 years ago) so she and I could bake together like my mom and I always did. Today we made a Thanksgiving cheesecake together. It's been part of sooo many great memories!
So freaking proud of you. This is such an accomplishment. I already said it but congratulations. Being debt free is amazing. ♥️
Your precious dog in the background ❤️
I love your Financial Freedom related videos!!! And THANK YOU for the Rakuten link!!!
we have also purchased a kitchen aid stand mixer about 1,5 years ago and I gotta say that it was a great purchase :) I personally do really enjoy baking and since we got this I do it way more cause it makes the process so much easier :) I love this thing :D so I´d say that this is an excellent purchase :)
So proud of you! Also, I really think repaying loans make people more aware of what they're spending their hard earned money on!
Carissa Wong Seems to me that thinking has not fully changed.
Your dog was perfectly still and focused on your talking for about 3 minutes and 50 seconds! 😊
this is so DANG random, Aja. 😂 long time viewer here, and i had no idea you loved to bake enough to make a fancy $700 mixer, but i love that you chose it over a designer bag. *I,* on the other hand, would've bought a YSL, lol.
Love that you bought that as your first purchase lol! I hope you continue with budgeting videos they’ve been really helpful for me!
been watching your journey for a while....what a crazy exhale. congrats!
You deserve it and more!!! I’ve been following your journey for a while and I’m super excited for you!
You genuinely look so happy, it makes me smile!!!!!
Omg!!! You and I are the same age so our college years were the same and I always watched the cooking shows! Love you Aja.
*ROCKING THE MIXER LIKE A BABY* haha! LOVE IT ---CONGRATS GIRL...YOU DO DESERVE IT
My mom’s had the same kitchen aid mixer for I swear my entire life (26 years). They are more expensive but they last. Have fun with all your baking!
I’m so happy for you. Can’t wait till I make my first debt free purchase. This is the motivation I need. Vitamix here I come😊
My favorite use for a stand mixer is homemade pasta! You can get attachments that make rolling out and cutting the dough super easy. It's a really satisfying process.
Lyndsey Olsen I think I’ll definitely have to get that!
So happy for you, Aja. YOU DESERVE IT ❤
I have been following your whole journey and I cannot be more happy for you right now!!!! Congrats, I bet that cake tasted so good!
This turned into a mini baking vlog and I'm here for it!!! Ugh I've been wanting one too! $46,403.20 more to go! Let's gooooo
Love this SO MUCH!! You’re debt free, but you KNOW the value of a dollar. You’re still not paying full price, and stacking the savings!!! Lololol at the fraud alert from chase!🤣😂🤣💀
Nice to hear this perspective! Enjoy your spending, you've earned it
Congratulations on your first big purchase! So satisfying to see it was something that would actually upgrade the quality of your life and make it easier. So something I would do as well.
Change deserve it to earn it. Many people feel they deserve stuff and it causes problems. But all the work you did you earned it.
Best purchase purchase ever. I LOVE my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Can't wait to see the things you make. Congrats. Have a great day!
Haha loved this! Man it's so funny how this debt free journey changes your perspective on purchases... I totally felt the BBB purchase but I'm glad you got it bc you deserve it!!!
You are amazing! I'm on the journey of paying off my student loans too and I always told myself that I would buy a designer bag after it also, but that goal might change hahaha
Congrats!! I’ll be debt free in March 2020. I haven’t thought about what my 1st purchase will be yet.
