I just wish the producers would've made the Wicked movie with these two right after they left the Broadway Musical - that's the Wicked movie that I'd go & see !
HAHA great interview! Very cute!! I always love to watch the interaction between Kristn and Idina. And it was funny at the end when Kristin was like "OUCH" and then later "naughty naughty" LOL. Great interview. Wish these two were still playing in NYC together so I could see them *dreams* maybe one day they'll both be back.
I don't think that guy was trying to be mean, and I don't think he's as arrogant as he seems. It's obvious he and Kristin know each other from somewhere and so they're pretty candid. He made a couple of jokes at her expense, and it doesn't look like she exactly minded. I could be wrong, but honestly, people, stop acting like you've got it all figured!
I noticed that too! From what I've heard at her live shows, I'm pretty certain that Idina is one of those shy people who get nervous when they have to be themselves on camera or in front of a crowd. I know she gets really nervous before interviews and concerts.
I now have a SERIOUS grudge against that dude! He seems like he hates them (especially Idina). Who could hate those two? They are the BEST there is! Screw him. Ugh. Love ya Dee and Krissi.
In the beginning I noticed how shy Idina was then towards the middle she really started stealing Kristin's thunder!!!!!! hahaha. I love that video! and yes ... those people do look alike. hahaha.
There is a lot of luv on this page for chenzel but not to defend the guy who is a little bit full of himself, but he actually made the interview more entertaining and it's great to see the girls' reactions and their great display of class and calm under pressure. I watched all the other interviews of them on youtube and they were all quite vanilla and boring. This one is great fun and after watching it a dozen times, I truly believe everyone is just having fun and joking around here.
Idina: "We met through a mutual friend.." I'd LOVE to know who's this mutual friend so I can ask him or her if Idina and Kristin are now on good terms.
he is just plain obnoxious at the end....gosh!! luckily kristen has a high enough self esteem to think he was joking! i feel so bad for her!!! my gosh!!
Lol, they spell Kristin's last name wrong at the beginning - (they spelled it as Chenweth)... Plus, they mispronounced Idina's name... A little more research before doing the interview, maybe?
8:04 That was a good question, and REALLY interviewer guy?! REALLY!, 8:18 GIVE ME A BREAK!, eye-deena REALLY FOR THE THIRD TIME! And, because this guy wasn't enough of an airhead already, 3:22 What should be listed in the credits: Idina and Kristin playing two very tolerant people who were in there rights to just leave/punch this guy, and a terrible interviewer with no visible training whatsoever.
Uhm, wow. Can't pronounce Idina, can't spell Chenoweth, and keeps digging at Kristen and trying to create a rivalry that isn't there. Really? This really happened?
maybe that's why for the 2004 Drama Desk Awards they mocked all the rumors about them fighting and such and put on fake bandages and slings etc on! it's a hilarious video!!!
Kristin Chenweth? Grrr. EYEDINA? Double Grr. People annoy me. But then again, i do like the "You steal the show, and everything else is in ruins.." =P "Naughty, naughty" Cute.
Ih-dee-nuh basically... it's kind of hard to explain. If that doesn't help, a good way to find out is hearing someone on like... another video to be sure. Find a video where Taye mentions her or she's actually saying it. Just my advice/help.
That guy is such a butthead!!! He's stirring big style and trying very hard to make them feel awkward but they won't budge! They love eachother! Idina seems really quiet and reserved here... love Kristin for sticking up for her though :)
holy crap...!! that guy was the biggest douche i had EVER seen!! poor idina and kristin :( this is what they mean when they talk about that stereotype for talkshow hosts. he was trying to make them angry, and trying to get them to show a rivalry, or some kind of mistake. he was insulting both of them, especially kristin!! they are both great for putting up with that...wow. LOVE them. thnx 4 posting this!!
Hm...I would guess she'd be more herself at interviews. When she's playing a role she's not herself. She's her character. But it's hard to say. She has such energy on stage that it's hard to imagine her as quiet.
I noticed that too...from her roles, im thinkin rent, she seems so hyper! But she is very quiet and sweet in interviews.... makes me wonder what the REAL idina menzel is like? hyper or quiet?
OMG - the guy is asking really probing and inappropriate questions. Like when he told Kristin something about her getting all the reviews in her other shows and how everything else was kind of ruined. That's totally wrong.
I just think they were very uncomfortable. This interview was so quiet, so frank... there was no life. So, they just kind of went with the flow, and tried to act... you know, like they were into it.
WHO was that guy? I think if I were Idina and Kristen I would be very mad about some of the comments he made. It was like he wanted to start a catfight on air. How disrespectful! They are both wonderful actress who shouldn't have to be subject to ridicule especially by that man! GO Chezel!
i'm not yet 2 minutes into it and I already HATE this guy. Where did he get those airs of I-know-more-of-Broadway-and-the-musical-that-you're-the-stars-of-than-you-do?
that guy's wierd.... member when he said " I'm not a highly respected journalist for the new york times for nothin.." hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm toot your own horn much? I think he's jealous and perhaps secretly wears a pretty little tiara and lipsincs in the mirror wishing he could be a good witch......or maybe thats me... haha
lol these interviewers are... just... ick. i cant even find a word :) theyre like telling them about the show- theyre in it, idiots, you ask the questions, remember? :) lol but kristen and idina are great as always
Yeah. He fails to grasp that although Elphie IS the Wicked Witch of the West in Gregory MacGuire's pro-LGBTQ+ strongly political revisionist history of L. Frank Baum's fantasy world reimagined by the timeless 1939 MGM film, Idina Menzel both simultaneously is & yet isn't her character roles. The same applies to Kristin Chenoweth concerning strawberry blond G[a]linda the Good as well, particularly when Kristin directly points out how she saw, even as a child, how plastic & superficial Glinda (portrayed by dame actress Billie Burke) kind of appears within the context of the MGM film. Indeed, a combination of aspects taken from both the public domain source material by original franchise author L. Frank Baum (his original book _The Wonderful Wizard of OZ_ truncated into the far simpler title of _The Wizard of OZ_ & having much of its plot greatly condensed in most retellings, which only benefits the story more by focusing more strongly on the character interactions) & the MGM film (though timeless, this 1939 musical romp is relatively short in comparison to modern-day blockbusters, clocking in at just over a hour & a half) certainly provided the founding framework for things to come when Gregory McGuire first wrote _Wicked: The Life & Times of The Wicked Witch of the West_ in 1995 well before it became the 2003-ongoing runaway hit Broadway musical it has since become, right down to having its own movie adaptation presumably in development from Universal Studios, much like _The Wizard of OZ_ story in itself, from which _Wicked_ very much is a deliberate upside-down subversion of, since _Wicked_ tells the narrative of L. Frank Baum's fairytale from the perspective of its villain reworked into a "beautifully tragic" misunderstood protagonist named Elphaba (or shortened to Elphie) whilst retaining much of its predominate influences patterned after the MGM film. Indeed, the movie in itself had spun-off into various interpretations in its own right (which were unrelated to _Wicked_ aside from similar visual aesthetics), from the 1970's radio recording of _The Wizard of OZ_ starring Judy Garland reprising her role as Dorothy Gale, the 1990 cartoon animated by DiC Entertainment that originally aired on ABC, Disney Record's "Story & Song" adaptation of the story put onto an LP vinyl record album/the Read-Along storybook with audio cassette re-release/an unofficially unauthorized audio CD created from downloading the mp3 file of the audio ripped straight from an uploaded TH-cam video of either preceding retelling which actually featured Disney Records cast member soundalikes of the MGM cast due to the working relationship between Disney & MGM at that time (It was this partnership that led to the creation of the Disney-MGM [nowadays Disney's Hollywood] Studios theme park as part of Walt Disney World in Florida; Although this 3rd theme park was clearly made to try & counteract the existence of neighboring Orlando competition Universal Studios [which is owned by NBC-Universal, whose executives actually own the film rights to a potential _Wicked_ movie, come to think of it], as conclusively proven when former Paramount employee & then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner basically rehashed the Studio Tram Tour attraction & pilfered the whole "working film studio" concept directly from Universal Studios to serve as the initial premise behind the development of Disney-MGM Studios too, it wasn't long before the arduous "studio system" of movie production fairly quickly became rather sadly antiquated due to home video releases of most-recognized films choosing to include the quintessential "behind-the-scenes" development of the accompanying film onto the corresponding VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray for said film as a "Bonus Feature" years prior to the advent of the post-analog Digital Age] that had been symbolized for years by either the Earful Tower [the white water tower with oversized built-in Mickey ears sporting the Disney-MGM Studios name branding across its side where the name of a local town/city would usually be, with the Earful Tower mostly finding its most renowned use in promotional advertising on TV during the commercially-free premium years of The Disney Channel ahead of the exponential boom of nationwide cable television] or, much more specifically, the standout icon of the theme park that is the Gramine Chinese Theater mock facade, in which sat The Great Movie Ride [as per its name, the ride-thru calls back to the Golden Age of Hollywood, which explains why it appropriately ends with two choice scenes from _The Wizard of OZ_ MGM film lovingly recreated in audio-animatronic form; ~a droning voice similar to various theme park instructional spiels echoes out of an unseen hidden speaker~ This just in, folks, The Great Movie Ride is now entering the conjoined realm of Defunctland/Yesterworld, since it has now gotten replaced by Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway once the Disney deal with MGM obviously expired, given the fact that Disney's longtime rival Warner Brothers bought out the MGM catalog of classic films & cartoons as part of it eventually becoming the corporate conglomerate Time-Warner Inc. & eventually splintering off into the Warner Media division of major telephone company AT&T once Apple's signature phone service bought out the entirety of Time-Warner Inc. itself for 8 million dollars a few years ago]).
Thank you, TH-cam algorithm, for giving me this video 13 years late.
I think Idina gets so shy and nervous on talk show xD
She actually is really shy in real life.
yeah. she's like "what did you just say?!" especially the slight raise of the eyebrows LOL
I just wish the producers would've made the Wicked movie with these two right after they left the Broadway Musical - that's the Wicked movie that I'd go & see !
I love how Idina* never corrects them. The guy is so rude.
what a bloody mean reporter. jeeze. they handle it though. they seem to be such good friends.
Eyedina Menzel lol😂😭
'that is why I'm a highly respected columnist for the New York Post' who says that? seriously?
healthywholemealbread Ik he's so annoying
Right? That means nothing besides he's a nobody with a diva complex
HAHA great interview! Very cute!! I always love to watch the interaction between Kristn and Idina. And it was funny at the end when Kristin was like "OUCH" and then later "naughty naughty" LOL. Great interview. Wish these two were still playing in NYC together so I could see them *dreams* maybe one day they'll both be back.
i love how he's sitting there talking and Both of the girls are looking at hime like, "Dude, you are stupid as hell."
Even the little things like turning to Idina "..and you?"
Pah! Props to them for keeping their cool.
that guy is so rude and annoying!
i love 05:30 when Idina kinda leans in to Kristin, like 'hug me!' haha i love them both
''that's why i'm a highly respected columnist for the new york post'' alright then...no thank-you for idina's compliment.
Dorothy Loudon! I'm so sad she's gone. One of the most underappreciated Broadway actors to ever grace the stage.
That was harsh. Poor Chenzel!!!! as Kristin said...OUCH!!!
I would sooooooooo love to have seen them in Wicked! They rock =D
I don't think that guy was trying to be mean, and I don't think he's as arrogant as he seems. It's obvious he and Kristin know each other from somewhere and so they're pretty candid. He made a couple of jokes at her expense, and it doesn't look like she exactly minded. I could be wrong, but honestly, people, stop acting like you've got it all figured!
lord help me happy birthday wicked
shows how old this show is 13 years
I noticed that too!
From what I've heard at her live shows, I'm pretty certain that Idina is one of those shy people who get nervous when they have to be themselves on camera or in front of a crowd. I know she gets really nervous before interviews and concerts.
they both deserve one they are amazing actors and singers. Idina definitely deserved it, but so did kristen it must've been sooo hard to choose
I now have a SERIOUS grudge against that dude! He seems like he hates them (especially Idina). Who could hate those two? They are the BEST there is! Screw him. Ugh. Love ya Dee and Krissi.
woooow!.. idina didn't even talk until 3.20
In the beginning I noticed how shy Idina was then towards the middle she really started stealing Kristin's thunder!!!!!! hahaha. I love that video! and yes ... those people do look alike. hahaha.

omg tha douch made it so00o0 awkward!! and they are actually friends and amazing stars!! why compare them?????
i agree! thanks for giving me a different view on that.
"They don't really write great roles for women on Broadway these days" How could he even say that?
omg i LOVE them...
are you talking about the absolute very beginning or a little after that?
it is throughout the show when she is talking and they show her name.
Idina: "We met through a mutual friend.." I'd LOVE to know who's this mutual friend so I can ask him or her if Idina and Kristin are now on good terms.
Idina's Cackle was spot on though...
Funny thing is Idina won that Tony. He was loud, wrond and rude for no reason LOL
Anyone else notice it says Kristin CHENWETH at the beginning when it shows her name.
he is just plain obnoxious at the end....gosh!! luckily kristen has a high enough self esteem to think he was joking! i feel so bad for her!!! my gosh!!
Elphaba isn't BAD she's just misunderstood that's all
meanwhile this theater critic, i forget his name SLAMMED wicked when he critiqued it. what a hypocrite. i hate theater critics.
I love idina. I love kristin. I DISPISE that pervert/jerk dude.
I agree with all the comments below. You rock idina!
Y Idina so quiet? I love her voice!
Lol, they spell Kristin's last name wrong at the beginning - (they spelled it as Chenweth)... Plus, they mispronounced Idina's name... A little more research before doing the interview, maybe?
i think they may when the popularity dies down.
because would some people rather buy the dvd for 30 dollars, or a theatre ticket for 150?
8:04 That was a good question, and REALLY interviewer guy?! REALLY!, 8:18 GIVE ME A BREAK!, eye-deena REALLY FOR THE THIRD TIME! And, because this guy wasn't enough of an airhead already, 3:22
What should be listed in the credits: Idina and Kristin playing two very tolerant people who were in there rights to just leave/punch this guy, and a terrible interviewer with no visible training whatsoever.
for the 117th time, IT'S NOT PRONOUNCED EYE-DINA! I love you Didi, and I love you Kristi
god that guy was rude i wanted to like punch him in the face!! he kept trying to get them to say bad things about eachother and AHH!!
Oh my GOSH I was thinking the SAME thing!!! Come ON!!!
the comment below this is wrong
it's not eyedina or edina
it's idina
no the don.t they spelled it Chenweth and it is Chenoweth
Uhm, wow. Can't pronounce Idina, can't spell Chenoweth, and keeps digging at Kristen and trying to create a rivalry that isn't there. Really? This really happened?
Oh my heck i was too! that is hillarious
anyone notice at 3 35 how idina seems kind of offended by the what the guy says?
OMFG. KRISTIN CHENWETH??? LOLLL.
I just H-A-T-E this guy! He's unbelievably arogant!! OMG!! Poor Kristin... "and after she wins the Tony would that change anything...?" OMG!!!!

Kristin Chenweth?
Grrr.
EYEDINA?
Double Grr.
People annoy me.
But then again, i do like the
"You steal the show, and everything else is in ruins.."
=P
"Naughty, naughty"
Cute.
oh no he didnt just pronounce her name wrong
Please let the woman ask the questions....
Ih-dee-nuh basically... it's kind of hard to explain.
If that doesn't help, a good way to find out is hearing someone on like... another video to be sure. Find a video where Taye mentions her or she's actually saying it. Just my advice/help.

but they're amazing :)
chenweth???? what the hell is that?? this man needs early retirement...ugh..where on earth did he graduate from!?!?!
holy crap...!! that guy was the biggest douche i had EVER seen!! poor idina and kristin :( this is what they mean when they talk about that stereotype for talkshow hosts. he was trying to make them angry, and trying to get them to show a rivalry, or some kind of mistake. he was insulting both of them, especially kristin!! they are both great for putting up with that...wow. LOVE them. thnx 4 posting this!!
That would piss me off if some random person who doesn't even know the show mispronounced my name
6:23 do you think Kristin meant what I saw? 'cause he totally deserved it!
Kristin and Idina handled that well..
considering what a jerk that guy is!
At about 1:45 I think Idina is actually trying to say something.
But he won't shut his mouth.
Lol
hahaha do you just go around and look for idina movies on here to write that? honestly....
They spelled Kristin's last name wrong.
OK, let me just preface by saying that I absolutely LOVE Kristin and Idina, b/c otherwise I'll get tons of hate-replies and probably will anyway.
That guy was completely full of himself.
Hm...I would guess she'd be more herself at interviews. When she's playing a role she's not herself. She's her character. But it's hard to say. She has such energy on stage that it's hard to imagine her as quiet.

I hate the guy but Kristin and Idina handeled it very well thats why there the best love them they rock
Definetly, he's looking for the dirt.
I just think they were very uncomfortable. This interview was so quiet, so frank... there was no life. So, they just kind of went with the flow, and tried to act... you know, like they were into it.
Idina looks good in red. And Kristin; pink...nuff said. XD
Where did he get those airs of I-know-more-of-Broadway-and-the-musical-that-you're-the-stars-of-than-you-do?
seriously
Lol, you can tell they weren't too impressed with that guy..
Is it true that they are no longer friends because Idina won the Tony award???
CHENWETH! WTF!!!! he was so mean to her! though her shouting was more jokey. i'd be pissed!
that guys mean!
that guy's wierd.... member when he said " I'm not a highly respected journalist for the new york times for nothin.." hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm toot your own horn much? I think he's jealous and perhaps secretly wears a pretty little tiara and lipsincs in the mirror wishing he could be a good witch......or maybe thats me... haha

I feel like this guy tries to make Kristin seem arrogant! and she seriously isn't!! That is very inconsidrate!
all the way through the interview its like hes trying to get them to fight !!!

Hey, guy, can you spell E.G.O.?
oh i thought he meant the absolute very beginning
he is such a jerk!!
i love idina and kristin, they make such a good team
i think idina was quiet in the beginning because she was sick. you can hear her clear her throat throughout the interview. plus kristen like to talk.
look at the lady interviewer at 7:27. wtc?
Idina is so humble and sweet. Kristen just comes across as conceited.
omygod
not "eyedina"people
its "edina"
@fredishot4sure i see what u mean :) a little raise of her eyebrows as well
hahaha agreed
