    Another reason...I don't have any money and my phone is all I have and it's not a great phone just an OPPO RENO 4Z which isn't great for detail. I don't even have enough money to live off and just want to know how to make money from my photos. I do nature photography but because I don't have transport or enough money to travel to different places I'm mostly limited to the area I live in.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, your phone is a great way to start. It has 48mp camera, so that is more than enough. You can always shoot at home. Yourself, working from home, watching tv, gardening,... I do this all the time :) Of course, with a phone it is better to shoot outdoors, because image quality will be much better. Shoot your family, friends and just upload. You can also upload your nature photos, but there is so much really good photos already online, that it is very hard to compete with those.

    Thanks for the useful info! Is it better to make horisontal pictures? Or vertical also acceptable? They are less "popular"?

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both! I shoot almost everything horizontal, but yeah, some people also need vertical images. But if you have enough megapixels and you leave some space around your subject, horizontal images can be cropped into vertical images :) But yeah, I think best thing is to shoot both.

    Hi Luka,
    I watched this video, thank you for content. I have a question about stock photography. I am experiencing the troubles you mentioned in your video. I cannot be very comfortable when taking photographs because the environment is disturbed by the camera with lenses from time to time. The machine I have is pretty good actually canon eos r but it feels difficult to transport and shoot. My only goal is to take stock photos, but I want to buy an iphone 12 pro max because it is comfortable and portable. Your opinion is very valuable to me. Because you are doing this job full time. my question is i think iphone 12 pro max would be enough for stock photography. It is advantageous as it can be carried around and ready to shoot at any time, but I wonder your opinion or suggestion about its technical competence. Thanks.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi! Well, it really depends what you are shooting. But I would say NO to using iphone as your main camera for stock photography.
      Except if you are shooting with deep depth of field all the time and only at daytime.
      Let me give you few reasons:
      - Despite the fact that iphone has great cameras, images are still only 12MP big.
      - everything is sharp because of the small sensor (although the sensor on iphone 12 pro max is bigger), so you can't blur the background. Portrait mode on iphone is still not so good as on your eos r. I know that I rarely shoot higher than f2.8, because I love those blurry backgrounds. Specially if you are shooting a person in the city - if you are shooting with iphone, everything will be sharp, so you will also need model releases for all the recognizable people in the back. But if you shoot with your mirrorless camera, you can shoot at f1.8 for example, and the background will be blurred and people in back not recognizable. Also eos r is much much better in low light.
      So, yes, iphone can be great for places where you can't take your big camera, but I would not recommend to use it as your main camera.

    I'm a student who travels from time to time and I use my smartphones like the Huawei mate 10 pro and currently the Galaxy S22 to take casual photos of nature and buildings. The images in my opinion look good and many friends and family members think the same. What platforms would be good for selling these photos? I can't edit images but I have a steady hand and want to use this skill to have some extra side hustle cash.

    Hi Luka, thank you for this helpful video! Is there a way to take iPhone photos in 300dpi, rather than the default 72dpi? I thought stock sites required all photos to be a minimum of 300dpi but can't find a way to take iPhone photos in this resolution.

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually it doesn't matter! 300 or 72dpi. Pixel number is still the same! That only matters if you want to print an image. If you want an image for a magazine, then you need 300 dpi, if you want to print a jumbo poster, then you need 72dpi. And you can set that in photoshop for exapmle. But for stock, no need to worry, resolution is still the same :)

    • @LukaAzman
      @LukaAzman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am glad you like it :) Well, that is really a tough question. Firstly because I am not really into entry level camera, secondly, I don't know your budgert, and thirdly, I think there is no bad cameras these days, especially for landscape photography, where you don't need crazy fast autofocus or similar. But I would go with something with 24MP or more, and focus more on lens then a camera. And of course in these times, I would go with mirrorless camera.

      Well, if you don't have anything else, then do it, of course, you can also produce great images with iphone.
