Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is my favorite Wii game. I also liked it better than BioShock, another atmospheric first-person adventure/shooter released in the same year. It was great to get a deeper look at how Samus’ world operates, and escorting the Demolition Troopers to their destination late in the game was one of the highlights for me. We need a high-definition Metroid game on the Wii U soon!
I'm from the future and I'm sorry to say not only did we not get one but we got a remake if the first one. Metroid Prime 4 won't be out for another couple years as well. So that's a decade for a follow-up. Sorry fam 😢
I loved this game... I Still remember blasting through in a 'crisp' 480p with Dolby 2 Surround sound on for an entire summer... It was addicting to the point that I beat it in 20 hours in a few days
I thought this game handled the mandatory item collecting pretty well. You don't need all of them and the hints actually help you this time. What I don't like is that you could accidentally use fuel cells on finding a missile upgrade lol. I prefer Prime 1 because of it's setting but this game is definitely a close in second.
Prime 3 is the best in the series, but I like Prime 1 better because it's the first prime game I played. Prime 2 wasn't as good. Not much variety in the environments, which is a huge negative for me because environments are important to me in games. Not a bad game though.
Festive Foxy im sorry but i disagree, prime 2 was my favorite, The story was amazing, and i love light vs dark, and metroid prime 1 i felt didnt have good eenvironments i love all the eenvironmentsin metroid prime 2 but its just my opinion.
Groovy Tuber Prime 2 has grown on me a little since I left that comment (I was stuck on that stupid spider guardian when I wrote that so I was frustrated with the game) They're all so good its hard to decide.
***** While the environments weren't as varied in 2, I feel that Prime 1's gets a little too much credit at times. Example, a lot of people described seeing Phendrana Drifts as breathtaking when they first saw it. I however saw generic ice world number 78 after just leaving generic lava world number 85. I think Prime 3 had the best looking environments, but it's a shame that it's not as exploration heavy as the other Prime games.
considering how well the shooting control setup worked in prime 3, Its insane to think that the plethora of wii shooters that followed in its footsteps dismally failed to offer tight shooting.
There are some games coming out now that will drastically help keep the Wii U alive, right now what's preventing me from selling mine is what ever the main Zelda and Mario game is going to be, Smash Bros, Sonic Boom (maybe), and the thought of what the next Metroid game will be... please be another Prime. Hell it could be a redone version of this like what was done with Halo Anniversary and with the option to not use motion controls and you can guarantee that I would get that, and every other fan

I liked echoes a LOT, my only issue being the dark world in it. Dark world was drab, difficult and you just wanted to run through it as fast as possible. The overworld environments (especially fortress) were the best in the series (except skytown in prime 3). Corruption was pretty awesome, except it felt... I dunno. It didn't feel very Metroid-ish. The other two primes and even all the 2D games made it feel like you were coming the the planet long after the action happened and were mostly tryin
MrMetroid1998 Other M was great but the controls felt so unfamiliar and takes too much time to get used to. They should've at least given players an option of using the nunchuck. In addition, it was too story-driven and Samus's personality was completely not what players expected. But I don't think you can compare the two as they offered different types of experiences, yet I still think the Prime Trilogy were the best Metroid Games.
metroid other m's story was what held that game down and the overuse of annoying cutscenes. gameplay wasn't that bad but it wasn't that good either. personally i hated other m for a lot of other reasons and so do many other metroid fans.
Jennifer Hale should of voice acted Samus, she did voice act Commander Shepard (Female) and did do the grunts of Samus Aran in the Prime games. Yes, when Samus gets hurt, it's Jennifer Hale grunting. TO those of you who didn't know that, you learned something new.
Other M and Prime 3 were both shits. 0 challenge. I finished every single metroid game and I can say that it was a boring one. It was more a halo game than a metroid one.
Metroid Prime was my favorite game of all time from 2002 until 2015 ( when Bloodborne was released). Unlike the reviewers here, I never liked the Wiimote controls and am eagerly waiting to get the trilogy on the Switch so I can finally enjoy MP3.
I’ve been playing the trilogy for the first time over the last few months and after I finished echoes I waited 1.5 months hoping the trilogy would be announced for switch. I didn’t want to have to use the motion/pointer controls. But I just couldn’t wait anymore so I just started playing prime 3.
The energy cell fetch quest isn't really that bad if you want to collect all the expansions, because they show up on the map if you get that satellite info from the observatory. You actually need to get some of that at some point in the game if I remember correctly. Going back there after getting the spider ball is something I've always done.
I actually found the controls very usefull, kinda annoyed me that aiming precisely and quick didnt really work with the gamecube controller. Still incredible trilogy tho!
coming back to all my old games during this 2020 quarantine. I feel like i've been consuming old culture again and getting another round of appreciation for it. Might be the only silver lining of this pandemic
Graphics improved a lot. Controls were perfect and more inmersive with the pointer. But it wasnt the same. Too much storytelling. I love the simplicity and no storytelling of the previous ones way more. Still great game.
Does ANYONE else feel like it was supposed to be bigger, and have more to do with the ship? You use the thruster lever thing, like twice? You only use the com-system once or twice (minus the secret messages from the developers, which are in Japanse). Especially noteworthy is the cockpit windshield's Hazard Blast shield thing and the Attack mode thing with the missile display and targeting reticle, none of which EVER had any functional use. I think they probably wanted to include some part where you actually fly the ship, and fire it's weapons, but they couldn't get it to work in the end and didn't take it out for some reason. And we'll nevet get a "refinished" version.
Im actually rebuying a wii since Im going to college and I have my pc and I havent played this series and other m, xenoblade, the last story, pandoras tower, radiant dawn or skyward sword so Im trading in my xbox one because there is nothing and I dont feel like paying 50 for online play when I get it free and my graphics will last until summer of next year which is when I will have to upgrade before I go to college.
+Bowserguy62 If you don't have some of the games: Get a Wii U. It's backwards compatible and the Metroid trilogy/ Other M/ Xenoblade and some other sweet games are on the eshop for a good price (which you can't say about the asking prices on amazon or ebay).
the wii u is a waste of everybody's time with subpar games. I remember I used to hate on the original wii, but looking back at it, it actually had quite a few great games on it like this unlike the wii u.
That comment is just not true. Wii U has some fantastic games. Only problem is that there are way too few of them to actually defend the system itself.
The Metroid series doesn't really connect, but the Prime trilogy does. I would get the trilogy pack and start from Echoes (Prime 2). Echoes tells you more about what is going on in Corruption than Prime 1 does because it tells you about Dark Samus and how Samus got to where she is in Corruption. But don't get me wrong, Prime 1, 2, and 3 are ALL very great games.
You need to play Prime 1 and Prime 2. If you think this game is intimidating, you have obviously not branched off into the first two games. Truly genius puzzles and immersion.
I liked these kinds of IGN video reviews worlds more than the newer ones. It's sounds like they're running off a script, while this one it's just honest, unscripted points of views regarding the game, and it's less showy and more personal. That's just some nostalgia. Still, the Prime trilogy is one of my favorite trilogies in all of gaming. Period.
I actually did. But that's not what really freaked me out, the Phazon Metroids did. Heck I'm playing Other M(had to restart due to broken Wii), and I couldn't advance cuz I was to scared of Nightmare to even TRY to fight him T_T
Please bring us the Metroid Prime Trilogy collection to Switch! It will probably be 2-3 years before Metroid Prime 4 comes out, and I'm not going to buy a Gamecube or Wii just to play the first 3 again!
Idk what it costs now but I saw it a while ago at Wal-Mart for $40 bucks (you gotta keep in mind that it comes with all 3 and is in a special hardcase). Just do some research and see what you can find.
I preordered this game 3 months before its release, whe I got it I wwas astonished!!! Then I got the trilogy, so i sold my old trilogy. Metroid Is my fav game series, and i would love that retro studios would come back to the metroid series development.
Right off the bat the reviewers say that they think Metroid Prime 3 is the best of the Prime games, and the definitive version. I could not disagree more. It's not a bad game, but there's no way in hell that 3 is better than 1 or 2.
this game was amazing. my favorite next to the first. the second one was really good but this was much better. wish ign reviews were more like this rather then their 3min ones they have now.
its fine i didnt have a problem with your comment and im definitely not pulling your leg, i love the metriod series and have played most of them but this issue is made me avoid playing Metriod 3 after i bought it months ago and every time i play this issue makes it hard to enjoy the game i have tried playing with it switch around but im playing poorly cause of it so far cause of it so thats why i just wanted to see anyone's opinion on this but anyway thanks for your input on it
i am of course a metriod prime fan and ive played the previous two and just started this one but im struggling with the controls cause im left handed, is there any advise on what i can do to adjust better? especially if you are left handed and played this too
Left handed or not should make no difference. Much like if you drive a car, you wouldn't say you struggle with the controls because the gear stick is on the wrong side would you? Only applies to things like Guitar/Snooker/etc.etc. where you need to have a primary hand. Obviously this is just my opinion.
i presonally thought this game was the best musically. MP1 was the best overall i think because it had that exploration, non linear feel that corruption didnt have enough of. echoes was the weakest not because it was bad, but because the other 2 were just better. ironically i think samus was the most badass in echoes just because of the situation. overall, i think all 3 should be rated together, especially if you look at it through trilogy. IMO, trilogy is the best wii game to date.
Man i really miss how much detail and effort ign used to put into there video reviews, they used to be so pasionate and informative about each review but now all you see are 5 min (MAX) video reviews telling you shit you already know D:
I absolutely love how he says "Crisp 480 p", just sounds funny these days
no it doesnt....
@S7at Blakk 480p did look really crisp and sharp on a CRT tv
@S7at Blakk to be fair basically no games actually played at native 1080p those days. A lot of 360 and PS3 games outputted at sub 720p resolutions.
Even back then, it was probably silly to say considering PS3 and Xbox were at 720p
hahaahahhah

Right off the bat the reviewers say that they think Metroid Prime 3 is the best of the Prime games, and the definitive version. I could not disagree more. It's not a bad game, but there's no way in hell that 3 is better than 1 or 2.
Still better than every cod games (except 1,2,3)
some of the planets in MP3 really creep me out
you should get the triligy for about 50 bucks, and play the first 2 on your wii.
My favorite childhood game
I was hoping for a new Metroid game for the Wii U in E3 2014. sad to say, no Metroid again. :-( , nintendo needs another Metroid game.
this game was amazing. my favorite next to the first. the second one was really good but this was much better. wish ign reviews were more like this rather then their 3min ones they have now.
its fine i didnt have a problem with your comment and im definitely not pulling your leg, i love the metriod series and have played most of them but this issue is made me avoid playing Metriod 3 after i bought it months ago and every time i play this issue makes it hard to enjoy the game i have tried playing with it switch around but im playing poorly cause of it so far cause of it so thats why i just wanted to see anyone's opinion on this but anyway thanks for your input on it
This is IGN's 29th favorite modern video game
Got this today and I love it. Bit intimidating, but great.
i am of course a metriod prime fan and ive played the previous two and just started this one but im struggling with the controls cause im left handed, is there any advise on what i can do to adjust better? especially if you are left handed and played this too
The only game that really makes me debate digging up my Wii from the crawlspace
You just gotta love how the reviewer acts as if this is his first Metroid game.
Left handed or not should make no difference. Much like if you drive a car, you wouldn't say you struggle with the controls because the gear stick is on the wrong side would you? Only applies to things like Guitar/Snooker/etc.etc. where you need to have a primary hand. Obviously this is just my opinion.
I find 2 to be the best of the series. Otherwise, great review.
Ice missiles and plasma beam... have you played it?
that's the idea of 99% of good RPGs. if you like linear games, then i would like to recommend the racing genre to you sir
i presonally thought this game was the best musically.
