      === Hi Jimmie;
      well, prompted by you and quite a few others, I’ll be putting out an audio version of the books. Recording now, and due out in about a month. Actually, helps because these events are so complicated (as real life is!), that I’m sure it’s not only easier to follow if I tell it myself, but more entertaining. I think a first for true-crime books to have the writer himself do the reading

    I have both of David’s books, and I love to listen to him speak. I lived in Thailand for 16 years and so many of the places he talks about are places I know well, and he has very rare and detailed insights into the way things are in Thailand that you never really hear anywhere else.

    • @FigaroHey

      Let's just forget that he is personally responsible for the destruction of thousands of lives and unknown numbers of girls hooked on drugs as part of false prostitution, not to mention babies born addicted to drugs, families shattered and human potential destroyed while he earned millions. We get outraged by men in Hollywood who sexually exploit women and make a hero of drug sellers. Where are the brains and where is the humanity of people watching this?

      True, and so the compression of the packed material should match the surrounds; for example, if wood, then press Coke to 1.3cm³ per gram. That aside, modern airport scanners, such as Analogic’s ConneCT Checkpoint baggage X-ray machine can highlight the edges. The solution? Check-in baggage, which is checked almost exclusively for explosives.
      Anyway, once you find yourself in front of an IONSCAN 500DT machine, you know you’re in trouble anyway!

    Ask David to talk more about the Australian criminal experiences that he had. I haven't heard about many such cases. Also see if he can talk about how most of his smuggling went down. There's a huge problem with human smuggling to Australia and they obviously aren't being brought to the water isolated continent by official avenues. Does he know what's likely going on? Are these humans that are being trafficked going through similar experiences to the central and south americans who cross the harsh deserts in the Sourthern United States to get into the USA? Or are they more likely being smuggled into ports and paid off port agents are letting cargo containers with them in through? His insight would be interesting and useful for people who want to see this sort of thing stopped. There's a lot of foreigners brought into countries because they have no connections for help and then the females, are forced into prostitution.

    • @LegalTyranny
      @LegalTyranny 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Samir Al-hafzi Said Mohammad Abou So how do you think they're getting them in? Are they going through cargo routes and corrupt officials are letting them through on ships or in cargo containers? Or are there people like the mexican "coyotes" who maybe sail them to some remote part of the austrailian coastline, let them off and then they have to go through the wastelands to get to the cities? Austrailia has much more natural barriers then the United States which is why this is interesting. If I had to bet I'd say both ways are possibly being used and the cargo routes with corrupt officials are probably the most common just because if they die going the harder route then the pimps and slavers lose money on the sex slaves they bought. It's fucked up for sure.

    • @LegalTyranny
      @LegalTyranny 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Samir Al-hafzi Said Mohammad Abou I thought the customs process was much more rigorous. It sounds worse than Mexico's customs. It would be a laugh if it weren't tragic for those getting trafficked.

    Mate this is the best podcast you have ever done.
    Lots of other channels recycle the same people but nobody has had this guy on.
    He is a different class/level altogether.
    I read his book years ago was very interesting and keeps me on the straight and narrow when travelling to asia no way I want to spend 1 hour in there prisons.
    Question for him is if he had his life over again looking at all his years spent in prison would he change thing and live a straight life? Does he have regrets? Was it all worth it really?
    Question for both of you is if your comfortable in life have a few properties paid off and a liviable income should you risk it all in the pursuit to better yourself (chase money). For instance im thinking of taking the money out on a 10 year fixed mortgage at 2.7% and pound cost averaging into an index fund am I being an idiot when I could just live a nice life abroad in a cheap country?
    Looking at the last bit soon I reckon we would be in negative interest rates anyway

      But, interviewing regular folk is done to death on here whereas there aren't many channels like this and done to the standard Shaun achieves. These people are deleted by society but, they have a story to tell and no real means (for most of them) to get it out there and in a graceful way.
      These people have a lot to offer society still and we waste them completely. Just because they have done wrong in their past does not make them bad.
      Good people doing bad things, often with the best of intentions or to rise above a system that wants to keep them down.
      I would love to talk to Shaun about my life and the characters you meet along the way.
