Korean Heritage - Shamans

Laurel Kendall who researched Korean shamans for the last 40 years explores the history of shamans and their adaptation to the societal/economic changes recent years. Her most recent book, Mediums and Magical Things explores religious images within and beyond Korea.
She received her AB degree from UC Berkeley, and MA and Ph.D from Columbia University. She is Curator of Asian Ethnographic Collections at the American Museum of Natural History and also teaches at Columbia University.

Interesting! I would have thought a shaman would have come from a person who was considered lucky, able, wise, fortunate...not the opposite.😮(kinda gives me hope!)
