From what I understand, awakening a Zoan fruit usually results in the “personality” of the fruit taking over the body, think monster point and the guards of impel down. Lucci and Luffy are similar enough to the “personality” of their fruits that instead of a total takeover, the fruits just become more in tune with their users.
At first I thought lucci could have given luffy at least a bit of struggle but now I realized he can’t even draw a bit of zoros blood. King vs lucci would be awesome.

i expected as much...they didnt add anything new from the fight in the manga, aside from the special effects ofc.. the previous episode can be easily add some chereography fights because it mostly focus on vegapunk sharing the secrets of devil fruits, and the fights only happens in the sideline, but in this episode it focuses on escaping the lab so the fight is more vivid
That's the big problem with shounen manga / anime. Every new arc has to be more blatant and intense than the previous one. This is particularly noticeable in series that have been going on for ages. Now that Haki is slowly being exhausted, everyone has to get the awakening in order to improve. The introduction of Haki was the big change back then. One Piece used to stand for a great adventure. Now it's the fights that stand out and are as explosive and colourful as Dragonball
