Last song played as the Titanic sank
Oh I've just get an huge spoiler
Ohhh you have no idea what we have in store. Mind blowing! haha
+Titanic Honor And Glory So far I've had to rebuild my mind various times and every time you blow it again, Thank you mind blowers
I am extremely curious as to how you found this out; I for one still believe the last song was Nearer My God to Thee, based on the following evidence-
1) Personal testimony from close friends of Wallace Hartley said that he had mentioned that if he were on a sinking ship, that would be a song he would have played
2) Songe D'Automne was not in the White Star Line songbook for the musicians
3) The only person who recalled hearing Autumn was junior Wireless operator Harold Bride; many more passengers recalled Nearer my God to Thee. Furthermore, it seems the only time he ever brought this up was in an interview with the New York Times.
4) One passenger, Archibald Gracie, denied hearing NMGTT in his memoir, but that doesn't necessarily prove it was Songe DÁutomne.
All this being said, at the same time as a man of history, I am willing to keep an open mind, and if you have found more evidence that points to this song, I am curious as to what it is.
frankydman One thing I like to add to this is that even that this song was not on the White Star Line songbook they could have played very well since if for example somebody during an tea evening asked for an song that was not in that book and they knew how to play theres no reason why they wouldn't so they could play any one of the 300 songs that there were on the book plus any other that they knew from other companies or songs that they learned on any other place. Second thing is that this guys have access to exclusive sources that may not habe been trown to the public so maybe they found an testemony or prove that it was Songe D'Automne. And by the way it could be Nearer my God to thee and THEN Song D'Automne because in my eyes if you say what song is the last you're not specifically saying that the other was not played. But if Nearer my God to thee appears it will be the British version not the American one
Titanic Honor And Glory sent me here
Cool!
@@heavypiano same :)
The newer video from H&G brought me here again.
absolutely brilliant ! Titanic: Honor and Glory brought me here!
Spotify please !!
I can't concentrate at work without listening to this song.

Here from Titanic Honor and Glory- awesome work on the piano!
Thanks Arkadios! I'm happy to have you here.
Titanic: Honor and Glory brought me here! Beautiful!
I'm really happy you liked my rendition. Thank you.
What a beautiful masterpiece! :)
brilliant interpretation, excellent work
Thank you, Miguel.
As a musician myself, this is quite humbling. Thanks for sending me over to this page H&G team!!
Watching this with the help of Titanic Honor and Glory. It rather hauntingly beautiful with the Titanic footage. It so real and sad so see the iconic ship slowly sink into the darkness of the waters. Amazing work! I love how you and the Titanic team is able to create these feelings. Just amazing work of art.
Thank you for listening! I'm glad you enjoyed my playing.
Absolutely bewitching. Took my breath away. A heartfelt THANK YOU for making this pleasure available!!!
Gorgeous playing, hautingly so knowing the past of this beautiful song.
Thanks Jessica, I'm glad you enjoyed my version.
Breathtaking! Awesome work!
Thank you
4 years after this video came out and I am only halfway done on my journey to learning this arrangement by ear. So far I have the melody and basic versions of the chords down, except for the loud middle section, and I have added some of the smaller melodic details in to my playing. Hopefully it won't take me more than 6 years to get this one piece down, but I have a feeling it'll be longer.
Wish me luck!
Tom, that is awesome! And wow... it's already been four years! Time flies.
I would love to see your finished piece! I'm sure many others would love to play this wonderful rendition as much as I would. Best of luck,
Luis
Man this is incredible, I can't get enough!
Thanks nebbit1. :)
I really lose myself in this. Brings me to tears.
if you have the music sheets, i would totally buy it!!!! This is so good, been hearing this since 2015, and still hoping someone would make some music sheet out of this 🤗
I wish I had the sheets. I've had good luck hiring transcription services though-have you ever looked into that for something like this?
Daaaamn man, me too!!
@@heavypiano do you have this song available on iTunes, Apple Music?
@@babarrett1 I'm afraid I do not.
@@heavypiano Spotify pleasse :)
Beautiful rendition.

Kind greetings from Sweden,

Thanks NordicKeys. Hello from Austin!
Волшебная мелодия вальса Замечательное исполнениеСпасибо👍🎶🇧🇻
благодарю вас
I'm discovering this fabulous interpretation today. It's really amazing: far more interesting than the original piece in my opinion. Can you please tell me what were your main inspirations? I want to discover more of this type of music. Does this genre have a name to start with?
Thanks Samuel. I can't believe I uploaded this more than seven years ago. How time flies! I'm not sure about inspirations or style... I just started improvising over a lead sheet and left the camera running. I've listened to a lot of Bill Evans and Brad Mehldau, but my playing is much different than theirs. Thanks for your kind words.
@@heavypiano Thank you very much for your reply (I wasn't even expecting one to be honnest). I don't know those pianists and it's going to be a pleasure to explore their music. Thanks again. (It's that kind of discussion that makes me think that internet can really be amazing...)
As far as the genre is concerned it's a waltz. Read up on Archibald Joyce and other 19th and 20ieth Century waltz composers.
@@robertferguson851 Well... That's obviously not what I'm asking. Thank you for your comment though.
Wow you could serenade any girl (or guy) with this. Very beautiful!
I wish I could play this beautiful piece. I have got to learn it someday, maybe when I'm better at music theory and playing the piano.
It's a beautiful tune-I wish you the best in learning it.
heavypiano Thank you very much! Is there any music for this version of it or is it all purely improvisational around the original version? (If it is, amazing job!)
Tom Lawson
I'm just improvising over the lead sheet. You can find the tune in the Django Real Book.
By the way, would it be possible for you to put this on Spotify or Soundcloud or are you restricted from doing so.
I could probably throw it up onto Soundcloud. Should be there shortly.
Hey man, do you have an email address I can contact you at?
Sure. joshua@heavypiano.com
I sent you an email but it might not have gone through. I'll send again

Amazing performance. Is there a way that you could upload this to Spotify so that I may listen to it on my playlists?
I was drowning in goosebumps while listening to this. SO GOOD
maybe pun intended. I am a horrible person.
Thanks for listening. Cheers!
A music sheet of that would be really amazing! Also, what are the best resources to learn to improvise like that?
Is it really important what the very last song played by the eight Titanic musicians was? No. What’s important is that they played music to keep the passengers calm and avoid a panic during the evacuation. These men were as brave as any of the others among Titanic’s crew (although they were counted as passengers in 1912). As brave as the officers and sailors who chose to help lower the lifeboats instead of reserving a seat for themselves. As brave as those among the engineers and electricians who chose to stay below decks and keep the power for the lights and wireless going. As brave as the wireless operators remaining at their post sending the distress call until the Captain relieved them... “You have done your full duty, you can do no more. Abandon your cabin... look out for yourselves... That’s the way of it at this kind of time...” May the names of bandsmen Wallace Henry Hartley, John Law “Jock” Hume, Roger Marie Leon Bricoux, Georges Alexandre Krins, William Theodore Ronald Brailey, John Frederick Preston Clarke, Percy Cornelius Taylor and John Wesley Woodward be forever remembered for their bravery and self-sacrifice.
Beautiful! Is this a personal rendition or is there sheet music I can follow? Thanks! THG brought me here
certified antimatter bomb classic
+David Faipeur merci! J'improvisais
Is there any way you can upload this to spotify?
Awesome song! Titanic h+g ftw!
Appreciate your kind words. Cheers.
i will playe nearer my godto thee with my recorder on april 15,1912 around 1:30 A.M
It would be wonderful if your wrote the sheets for this. It would be great to play!
I really love it, any chance to purchase a mp3 Version?
Thanks, Barryzockt. Send me an email at joshua@heavypiano.com and I will get you the MP3.
heavypiano may I drop you an email to obtain this masterpiece too? I love it!
super! question. what's your take about taking a shot at web-based collaborations using Bandhub =) I some times record electric guitar. You and I may double up to give it a try! This'll be terrific!
That'd be fun. Let me know what tune you'd be interested in.
can you write out sheet music for this? i would love to learn it.
Let me look into it, I think several people would find that helpful.
okay thank you
Can you create sheet music for your rendition of this piece.
I don't have time now but would love to some day. I'd have to go back and figure out how I played it as I just improvised over the lead sheet for this recording.
heavypiano Thanks, :)
Can you notify me upon completion, i am anticipating them patiently.
yeh i also would buy the sheets, this is such a wondeful piece
+heavypiano Still hoping that one day you will complete them. It would be my dream come true (and many others', I assure you!). This improvised version is magnificent.
pov: flinging the titanic and smashing it to the border wall in floating sandbox
Hey heavypiano, is there anywhere where I can learn this song on piano and in this variation of it?
Hi Joseph, the only version I know is the Django Fake Book lead sheet, which is what I'm playing off of. I would start there-hope that helps!
OK thanks, do you know where I could get it from?
www.djangofakebook.com/
This is amazing, is there a piano score for this or something? :D
+Geoff Easter I'm improvising off of the lead sheet from the Django Real Book.
..wait if u don't have time for writing sheets, would u allow us to ask other youtubers to create sheets for this piece? :S
If someone wants to I don't mind. That's nice of you to ask. I'd love to see the sheet music myself, ha!
heavypiano wow thank u so much
Is there sheet music?
Or can you just tell me the chord changes
There's a decent lead sheet with chord changes in the Django Fake Book.
@@heavypiano thanks
