Full transparency, I thought about scrapping this video because of how chaotic it was, and because I wasn't able to complete it in the depth that I wanted to due to all of the interruptions but, in the end, I thought you'd get a kick out of Archie's nonsense and I did touch upon some of the bigger ones I wanted to. I hope you enjoyed!
First, Archibald was a true asset to this video! I am 50 and new to watching BookTube and I appreciate you mentioning the older viewers. And although I don't think I could create a channel, I have small dreams of doing so. Great video!
Your cat is adorable! I feel like he added some humor to the video. Also about the book hauls and reading those books oftentimes we do want to read those books. We just don’t always get to them in a timely manner because of life or other things. I have a ridiculous amount of books I’ve hauled that I haven’t read yet but I truly do want to read them all. Just haven’t gotten there yet. Self care is also very important and I don’t think having to force yourself to read just for Booktube is fair to yourself in the long run.
But when does the cycle stop? Someone buys a large amount of books they genuinely want to read but they don't get to them right away. They continue to buy more and more books that they want to read and also don't get to right away until they are left with a massive amount of books they couldn't possibly finish for years and that's if they did nothing but read their physical TBR, which will also never happen and at that point, it just becomes wasteful. So at some point, the buying habit has to change or the reading habit has to meet the buying habit in order for it to be worth it. Just my opinion.
You’ve made a lot of excellent points! I never really thought book tube was for young people but maybe that’s because I didn’t start consuming the content til the last few years. I’m slowly trying to move from strictly authortube and lifestyle videos to include more reading content. I don’t feel like TH-cam is a fulltime job. You make it what you want it to be.
I've wanted to make a Booktube channel, but I have struggled with not feeling very articulate with my thoughts about what I read. As well as consistently, because some times I may be energized to do it and then other times, not so much. Also, I struggle with things in regards to editing. I know nothing about editing, and don't know where to start with that.
So, I feel like approaching Booktube can be the same as say, approaching the gym. You can't rely purely on motivation to do it. Motivation ebbs and flows. There has to be other reasons you persist, even on the days you don't want to. And yeah, editing was, and still is, my biggest hurdle. It took me ages to be able to edit the way I do and even then it is still basic. Right now, lighting is my nemesis more than anything. there is always something to learn!!
How dare you accuse Archibald of messing up your video?! He added to your video and it would have stunk without him (JK, of course). You know I watch just for the chaos. Great ideas on myths. I saw a tweet I think you'd like about audiobooks: Humans have too long of a rich oral storytelling tradition for audiobooks not to count as reading.
That is an excellent, excellent point!! I am going to steal that one. Also...sending Archie to you for Christmas. You can babysit for a few years until he is calm and just sleeps all day. Lol!!
@@jguidry94 Honestly, if I didn't think he would be absolutely terrified I would take him for an outing. He is the scarediest baby that ever was. When we went to Texas for the Renn Faire, my friend was housesitting and watching the furminals and he stayed under the bed the whole time. Lol
As a smaller booktuber do you get a lot of hate comments? That is one thing holding me back from trying booktube out for myself. I cannot handle negative comments well lol
I honestly can't think of any true hate comment I have received. The only negative comments I have gotten are primarily related to how quickly I talk. For the most part, everyone has been extremely kind and supportive.
@@RescuesandReads yay! It was my first by him and I wasn’t expecting much because it was out of my comfort zone, but I really loved it. I hope you do too! Happy Holidays. Loving Bookmas!

Your fur baby was cracking me up! I have one so I get it! He’s precious! You’ve made some good points in this video.
Thank you!!
❤🐈❤Archie!! What a cutie!! Totally added to the fun of the video!!
Great video! Archie is an added bonus. Fur babies forever.
Good points! Archie's appearance was a delight. 😺 My cats totally approve of his interference.
I am glad your cats approve!

Well said. I love when pets make cameo appearances.
🐈 Stole the Show 😀
As he usually does.
Bravo 👏 great vid. And great advice as well, thank you.

👋hey! Archie 🐈. Lol!
I love the sweet orange fur baby that made himself at home on your lap! He is welcome anytime.
If I allowed him in the room at all times....videos would never get filmed. 🤣
Your filming assistant is so cute!
Cute, yes. Actually helpful? No.
I love the Archie cameo. He is the best. You could do a video of just his antics, and it would be great.
That's basically all my vlogs are. Lol!

@RescuesandReads I would LOVE an Archibald visit for Christmas! The house is too quiet. I am about ready for some chaos.

@@RescuesandReads Aww. Poor baby. He was abandoned and some scary person was trying to kidnap him.
NEVER apologize for pet cameos.
Cameo?! He essentially had a starring role. Little chaos demon..
@RescuesandReads and he did AMAZING! LOL
