One of my favorite groups from my youth and one of my top 5 songs. Although written by John & Michelle Phillips, it was actually recorded first by Barry McGuire. The Mamas & Popas (John & Michelle Phillips, Mama's Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty) made it a hit. Interesting note John & Michelle wrote many songs but one of them, Creeque Alley, mentions Barry McGuire along with many other artists that were part of the folk music scene.
Wow Beth, you knocked it out of the park with your answer. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Mamas and the Papas had not formed when they originally wrote the song and were part of another group but I didn't remember the Barry McGuire part. Good answer. Have a great weekend 🤓
Mamas and papas :) I missed this video coming out. I love the format, I’m constantly thinking about being out in the backcountry so it really resonates.
Thanks Del. I was hoping to get some feedback on this type of format without asking. I won't do this all the time but I thought it would be fun once in a while and get everyone involved with the comments. ✌
Well I don't know how I missed this video. Nice little production and great soundtrack. Always enjoyed the mamas and the papas. Good memories. Take it easy buddy.
One of my favorite songs written by John and MIchelle Phillips. California's natural wonders are still intact as God's work is long lasting but that idea of California as a dream place to live has been destroyed by political idealogy. Californians with an ounce of sense are moving in droves.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly right. We were able to visit Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Seqouia National Park a few years back. They are such iconic places and made for great memories.
They were a talented group. 60s and 70s probably the most free time in America. Also might be the height of modern music. I can't hardly stand music from the last 20 years
Thank you. That was a great visit with family plus Michelle and I spent a day with Greg Allelo and Kelsy from the old tv show called Motion that used to be on the old Livewell network
Hey Tony, great job on the video. John Phillips and his lovely wife Michelle wrote the song in 1963 in NYC during the winter. However the song didn't hit AM radio til late 1965. Loved that song... Right about now I'm dreamin of spring in New England. Bring it on!! Have a glorious weekend, Steve
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly right Steve. I think we got to experience some if the best music though the 60s and 70s. I hope you get some nice weather soon. I've been getting quite a few day rides but I sure need a trip 🤓
I was 10 when John Phillips and Michelle Phillips released this still classic song from that era. Some nice California Dreaming there Tony, cheers Alan
well over here in California it is a bit warmer but still monday monday hahahaha... //seems like the long winter is finally ending it has been back and forth with the cold a lot for us this year/// nice ride in TX and some neat scenes from yosemite thanks for sharing
Man Tony you knocked this video out of the Park my friend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Michelle & John Phillips wrote it and was sang by Mamas & Papas. I loved this song as a teenager. What teenagers don’t live for music. And of course as every generation probably says “ was the best period in time ever”. Well, will be interesting to see how this generation sees todays period in time 🤷🏼♀️ So great to see ya putting out a video again Tony, You ALWAYS make me smile 😊🤟🏻
Tony, this was awesome! All the way from the music and history to the ride on the beautiful back roads. Keep putting them out there!!! Ride That Tasty Wave
such a good vibe from this vid, thanks for sharing
Thank you eskalon. The whole world could use some good vibes right now. ✌

So basically, California dreaming is really California nightmaring. Ha ha. Love the song.
It would have been if you were in the band. Lol

Mama & the Papas? If I lived in Calf, they wouldn't be dreams, more like nightmares. lol
Mamas and the Papas were the group that sang the song but.......who were the songwriters? 😉 Thanks for playing along

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly right Alan. I think we had some of the best music during the time we were growing up. Thanks for playing along my friend✌

Hi potatothorn. Nice one on the Monday Monday. Hahaha.
Our winter has been crazy. Almost 80 one day then 20 the next. Come on spring ✌
Hey Tony, Fun video. Them white bass are runnning, where’s your pole?
That sounds like fun. A stealth overnight and sand bass would be great ✌

Nice, but I only do Texas dreaming!
We have a lot to dream about but I have to admit, Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Park are pretty iconic places to visit ✌

Thanks Jay ✌

gracias sergio Aprecio que estés mirando. Cuida de mi amigo
@@BluecollarBackcountry you are welcome, cuidate tu tambien. Exitos
The Mommas and The Papas sang it. I remember my dad playing this on a record player when I was young.
Your right Dusty, the Mamas and the Papas did sing it but.....who were the songwriters 🤓
Y'all don't even have a winter down there if you have green grass in early march. I'm envious.
Yeah, our winters are generally pretty mild but these summers.......Ugh!
Outstsanding Video! You got me looking for a Fat bike. lol
I think everyone should have a bike. Lol. It sure has opened up a whole new avenue of adventures for me.
cool shots of Yosemite in there Tony and a nice stroll/pedal down memory lane :)
Thank you Amos. That was a great trip with a lot of memories.
Great song, great video Tony!
