Did they make the game much better since launch? Should I buy it now? Can you play at all against the AI even if its bad? Last I heard the AI would just sit there and run down the clock doing nothing. Did commentary get improved?

Having played it myself I'd say I prefer the UI from 2 but it's still (mostly) the same. There are some changes due to adapting a different edition of blood bowl proper (like how anyone can attempt a jump but Leap makes it somewhat useful) but I am having fun.
