  • Bangalore (officially known as Bengaluru) is the capital of Karnataka state. It has a population of over ten million, making it a megacity. It is the third most populous city and fifth most populous urban agglomeration in India. It is located in southern India on the Deccan Plateau with elevation of over 900m (3,000ft) above sea level, the highest of India's major cities.
Bangalore is sometimes referred to as the "IT capital of India" (or "Silicon Valley of India") because of its role as the nation's leading Information Technology (IT) exporter. Indian technological organisations ISRO, Infosys and Wipro are headquartered in the city. A demographically diverse city, Bangalore is the second fastest-growing major metropolis in India.
It is home to many educational and research institutions in India, such as Indian Institute of Science(IISc) and Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) (IIMB). Numerous state-owned aerospace and defence organisations, such as Hindustan Aeronautics and National Aerospace Laboratories are located in the city. The city also houses the Kannada film industry.

Hundreds of lakes have been drained and converted to plots. This has not only resulted in constant flooding after rains, but has taken away the beauty of the city.Bangalore could have been made to look like Salsburg in Austria, but instead the corrupt politicians and babus decided to make money for themselves at the cost of the city's natural beauty!.

Constant vigil is the need of the hour to preserve what is left of old Bangalore!!!. On a positive note, the new Church Street that was redone by the previous Congress Government of Karnataka under the TENDERSURE PROJECT, looks very much like a foreign country!. Check out some of the redone TENDERSURE roads and the cycling lanes where it was possible. I hope the new Church Street will be the template for the rest of the country including all the towns and the Main Street of the bigger villages....a minimum standard for roads in the future!. For those not familiar with the details of the new Church Street, it has all the utilities like electricity, tv cables, phone lines, storm water pipes, water pipes, sewer pipes etc underground .....on both sides of the road to prevent the constant digging up of the roads!. The up and coming Terminal 2 of the Bangalore Airport is another thing to be proud of!. Designed with the old Bangalore in mind, with its gardens and Bougainvilleas and roses in mind, Terminal 2 looks very much like part of the old Bangalore, ...a reminder of the old cosmopolitan city with its English speaking and friendly citizens and its salubrious climate!.

The thing which is beautiful in Bangalore is the deciduous trees spread out in entire city as bangalore is situated in Deccan plateau. Being a bangalorean, I agree road infrastructure is bad. Hope to see its improvement in the future. Bangalore is far better than mumbai, Delhi, kolkata. Mumbai is filled with slums. Kolkata is filled with old buildings and tram. Delhi with complete pollution where you can't breathe fresh air. Bangalore is very less polluted and you can easily breathe fresh air. Bangalore is far better than those overrated cities.

A city without a master plan
    Such narrow roads, unplanned growth.
This could have been done so differently.
Indian cities need to grow taller, not fatter.
Taller buildings, more open spaces, wider roads, better public transport.
20th century ideas of urbanisation need to be dumped.

Being a Bangalorean, I agree Chandigarh is better because it's completely green and completely clean. No potholes at all in Chandigarh roads. In Bangalore, the city is green, it has modern infrastructure like high rise buildings but roads are ugly. Completely narrow roads filled with potholes. On the other hand, city is dirty. People dump garbage on the roads. That's why Bangalore looks bad. Once if roads get improved and city becomes as clean as Chandigarh, it looks the best. Hoping infrastructure improvement in the city for future.

That's because chandigarh is very small city with less population. Chandigarh is not a metropolitan city like Bangalore, every big metropolitans have problems...
